Obviously the answer is Beware the Batman. Just kidding, no one ever cared about Beware the Batman. I give the show props for trying to bring to life more underrated villains but yeh..the show was dead on arrival. I actually loved "The Batman" since it took a veeeery different approach to the characters I liked The Batman, they should had never changed the first season theme tho It took chances. Ethan becoming Clayface was really well done. Joker design I can take or leave but the voice and manic persona I liked. Same thing with Killer Croc as I liked what they did with him

It's hard for every episode of ANY show to be all hit unless it's a miniseries, so I'm not going to hold BTAS having a few duds against it. It was an excellent, groundbreaking show in a lot of ways. I don't think Batman is as popular today without it. Hell, I think the superhero genre as a whole would be in a very different place if it wasn't what it was. I thought TNBA was really good, too, though some of the new character designs like Catwoman's felt like distinct downgrades. Poison Ivy having grey skin was also really weird to me.
Tho they did get some of the designs right for JL like when they just combined the two designs for Joker You're missing out on a lot of good superhero shows without BTAS. JL was what they took from BTAS and STAS and basically perfected it

Never really watched Static Shock (and ignoring stuff like Gotham City Girls and Zeta Project in saying this), I think Justice League's actually probably my least favorite of the DCAU shows. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination but I've really just never personally connected with it the way I do with BtAS, StAS, and some of the better episodes of Beyond.
I'd probably put money on Zeta Project being the actual worst show though. Never watched it but both episodes of it in Beyond are crap.

Justice League is a decent series but I feel like that first season of Unlimited is solid gold and something that's not really seen in cartoons at the time. The way the story and characters all built to a head in that one season was crazy. The Not-Suicide Squad episode? Oooooh damn.
Now I'm gonna go watch this shit again. Damn it. lol.

It's really not, even putting the Batman aspect completely aside. What they did with art direction, music, and voice acting was groundbreaking for the time. It's really a landmark of the medium, same way Beast Wars was for CGI.

The Cadmus arc is f***ing insane for Season 2 I'd recommend this if you want to watch a retrospective. He actually has a retrospective for the whole DCAU from BTAS to Batman Beyond

Justice League was good, but JLU was fantastic.
And yeah, Zeta Project was pretty bad. But then outside of Zeta being in a couple of episodes of Batman Beyond, it was its own thing instead of being part of DC. I don't even think it had a comic base and was never brought into comic continuity like Terry and his cast were.

It's the definitive version of the Batman mythos for me.

For its time, I would say definitely not.
Both the series and MOTP left a lasting impression on kid me and to be honest I’m hesitant to go back and watch it lest it mirror my reaction to recently trying to watch Spider-Man & X-Men. Man those don’t hold up. Probably partly me getting old, but still.

No, but we also need to recognize that it's a product of its time, and to allow for more and different interpretations of the characters and stories that Batman: The Animated Series at one time presented. It's probably my favourite version of Batman, but I don't think future generations should be shackled to the interpretations of the characters as performed by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.
It's not overrated at all, it's that opinion about the show from a certain generation has calcified. And that's never good for creativity.

I wouldn't say it's overrated, but I personally prefer the Batman movies and Arkham games over it.

I'd say no. It more or less redefined the Batman mythos, reinvented much of the rogues gallery in ways that still resonate today, and created one of the franchise's most beloved characters in Harley Quinn. I think it does deserve a lot of the hype it's earned. If we're going down that route then the correct answer of underrated is Brave and the Bold Obviously the answer is Beware the Batman. Just kidding, no one ever cared about Beware the Batman. I loved Beware the Batman.

If someone says B:TAS was flawless, that'd be ridiculous. There are some weak episodes, or missed opportunities, but when it was good, it was really good, and when it was great, it was some of the very best stuff associated with the franchise, period.

X-men and Spider-man are both nonsensical as f*** and terrible quality these days compared to Batman TAS. I'm kinda shocked by your opinion. (I still can't get over that Spider-man only ever punched one guy the entire series).

(I still can't get over that Spider-man only ever punched one guy the entire series). Yeah, the fox mandates on Spider-man are insane. You can tell someone really didn't want this cartoon on their network and were trying to kneecap it. can't use the word "Sinister", Spider-man can't disturb any pigeons on the roof, Spider-man can't punch anyone... etc. teh first one wouldn't perhaps be so bad if you know his big villain group wasn't called The Sinister Six... I still really like both Spider-man and X-men. But Batman is by far the better series and holds up unbelievably well. I do also like that Batman is shown to have compassion even for his villains in that... like the Man-bat episode where he basically hides Man Bat from the police while the anti-bat serum took effect... it also made like the backstory for Mr. Freeze that everyone knows... before then he was kind've just one of any number of cold based supervillains. But they gave him a motivation and characterization that made sense and elevated him to the point where he is one of Batman's more recognizable villains.

I didn't mind Ivy's greenish-grey skin too much... I thought it kinda fit her whole being more plant than a human thing... Catwoman's was strange becuase it's sorta like they decided well after the fact to make the outfit more like Batman Returns' made her skin white while in the catwoman suit... but then had the normal skin color as Selena... also they made her look more like her comic counterpart of having short brown hair... I really hated Joker's update... getting rid of his lips and eyes was an odd choice... as did Hatter's more ratlike appearance... and Riddler they made look like a generic henchman. that said Scarecrow got a major upgrade in design though.
