It's very good, gave birth to or enhanced some great characters and the voice acting is top notch. Of course there are some dud episodes (that one with the kid, the penguina and batman in his room).

It has a couple bad episodes, as any show with that much material would. They said it's every bit as good as people remember it (hell the whole DCAU is).
Xmen OTOH has aged horribly.

It's easily the best distillation of the character that has ever been, merging the darker takes with more light hearted fair.
Which isn't to say there aren't later versions that are great:Brave&the Bold was a blast.

I'm just putting this out there; when I read Batman comics by and large I read them with the voices They had in BTAS (I mean, who doesn't?). When I read X-men I read everyone with their Wolverine and the X-men voices; the VA on he original X-men just sounds too damn goofy for the most part.

I find the show is still watchable and more mature than any of the crap that passes for Marvel cartoons now. And it's certifiably better than most Spider-Man comics from 2008-2018 too

Which, considering it was ultimately a Saturday cartoon in the early 90s was absolutely fine. But if you're like me and you prefer your Logan a bit more thoughtful and world-weary, Steve Blum is just so damn good that it's not even a fair contest.

I will say Scott,Jean and the rest performances are so over the top with cheese it's crazy. I do have a soft spot for Rogue though.

Now I know why I was such a contrarian about Batman: TAS to begin with, it was because it's fans kept taking unnecessary shots at other superhero cartoons over the years just to look 'cool'.

I mean, the initial post said that X-Men and Spider-Man are better, of course people would offer their own opinions on that facet of it.

I enjoyed both X-men and Spider-man from the 90s.
I genuinely think the 90s x-men got all the villains down spot on from Magneto and Apocalypse to even the oddball almost one off villains like Mojo or D'Ken. It's just the hero team that is a bit vulnerable. Wolverine is probably at his lowest power level in this show, there is a sub section of episodes where we follow a walking Xavier and powerless Magneto wander about the savageland. Whilst some staple x-men members barely make an appearance such as Iceman.
Having said that this show made Gambit so it gets all my props for that and Mr Sinister has never been more panto villain that in this show which is great. Plus it is the only show to have actually done the Dark Phoenix storyline fully and well.
Spider-man is let down by the censorship of the time (no punching, no bullets, plasma) but still has some great stuff going on, even a section involving Dr Strange and Dormammu?! Athough I thought Dr Octopus was treated a bit poorly (more henchman that villainous mastermind.)

X-men and Spider-man 90s cartoons got me into those characters for damn sure and I still enjoy a lot of the stuff they did. (Spider-man moreso)
But Batman is a whole other level in production. You can see the money on the screen.
I wish Spectacular Spider-Man got a chance to grow. That show had a damn chance to be special.

X-Men TAS made me a fan of Gambit("Gambit does not make TV Dinners!") and Cable and Spidey despite everything had heart and a spectacular Kingpin.
And second on Spectacular unfortunately getting the shaft, as did Avengers EMH.

The art style on Spectacular is something I never much cared for. It wasn't horrible or anything, but just quirky enough not to connect with me.

It's hard for every episode of ANY show to be all hit unless it's a miniseries, so I'm not going to hold BTAS having a few duds against it. It was an excellent, groundbreaking show in a lot of ways. I don't think Batman is as popular today without it. Hell, I think the superhero genre as a whole would be in a very different place if it wasn't what it was. I thought TNBA was really good, too, though some of the new character designs like Catwoman's felt like distinct downgrades. Poison Ivy having grey skin was also really weird to me.
I didn't mind Ivy's greenish-grey skin too much... I thought it kinda fit her whole being more plant than a human thing... Catwoman's was strange becuase it's sorta like they decided well after the fact to make the outfit more like Batman Returns' made her skin white while in the catwoman suit... but then had the normal skin color as Selena... also they made her look more like her comic counterpart of having short brown hair... I really hated Joker's update... getting rid of his lips and eyes was an odd choice... as did Hatter's more ratlike appearance... and Riddler they made look like a generic henchman. that said Scarecrow got a major upgrade in design though. I forgot how bad Joker's design in TNBA was. But yeah, I actually didn't mind Selina's redesign all that much since it's more comic-accurate. I think BTAS Selina was only a blonde because that was Michelle Pfieffer's hair color in Batman Returns. But the Catwoman TNBA design looked way more sinister than the character ever was, between the shift in skin color and the creepy smile and eyes.

Granted, my favorite Spider-Man cartoon is Amazing Friends and it's VERY much a product of its time.

I rewatched some X-Men and Spidey 90's and yeah, they're very much products of their time. Though Magneto's goofy face in one of the earlier episodes of X-Men made for a meme among my friends. And the super cheesy fire effects when they were hyping up Phoenix/Dark Phoenix. Though the X-Men cartoon did both the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix arcs way better than either movie, sadly.

I've never really dug Batman and BTAS was too samy for me to get into. I wish BTAS wasn't used as the benchmark for what animation can do.
