He's had gimmick change after gimmick change. Has he really though? He was briefly Nicky in the Spirit Squad, and ever since he's been the same old Dolph Ziggler. Same look (minus that one bad haircut he immediately grew back out), same personality, same moves, etc. I mean I guess he flips from heel to face, but he doesn't really change his character.

It’s weird that’s he’s a grizzled vet now. Seems like he had that AJ Styles in TNA syndrome of always being “on the rise”

In a sense, he never evolved past young guy being able to stand on his own His best stuff was when he had Vickie and AJ and he was still the young hot upstart with massive potential. Yet, the only thing that has changed has been his gear As I said before he needs a whole gimmick change.

That is the biggest insult in the world haha. I think one difference with Randy is that he has a better gimmick to begin with. The cold blooded serial killer will always have legs and can be transferable to any opponent. Like he can be sticking screwdrivers in Jeff's ear one minute and setting fire to a barn the next. Dolph's gimmick is a bitter, whiny guy which gets stale pretty quickly. I'm gonna whine at this guy and say I should be champ! (Then lose). Now I'm gonna whine at THIS guy and say I should be champ! (Then lose.) Repeat x50. After his first whiney failure they should have switched him up somehow. Yea, but it is not like Dolph can't switch it up. Hell, he could went JBL route with cutting his hair and being more business since he has been doing Fox News for years. It is still the i'm better then you gimmick but now he's out with short hair, dye it back brown and come out in suits. Seth was able to use people turning against him and turn it into the Monday night messiah gimmick which obviously works since people were calling him crossfit Jesus He does comedy so he could use that more in his character like how Miz went more Hollywood route as he started acting more. It is definitely that, WWE controls most of your visual aspects,I remember people being in trouble for changing their hair and getting tattoos. To say Ziggler cant stand on his own is a lie tho,he has many times in the past. Funny I now remembered when Ziggler did change his hair for TV and people hated it he looked like buff Bourne

People hated it because he looked generic I said he hasn't evolved past the guy to be able to stand on his own, not that he never could. He never could consistently His best look was always the short blond hair with the trunks That was the guy on the rise with a ton of potential. He got serious, had the look and just needed more seasoning. Problem is he basically stayed this same guy but is no longer a young upstart and people better then him came through the system

There is no "gotcha" I don't know what your point is. 10 years and that's the biggest change he's made because the office allowed it and never again. I don't buy it Besides that, it is one look. Still the same gimmick essentially

I think it's fascinating that he's been in the WWE for a long ass time, had tons of matches and yet he's still treated like some young up-and-comer about half the time.
It's like the WWE hit the pause button on his life in the early 2010's and forgot to hit play again

You hear Arn Anderson tell it, Dolph knows his value and it rubbed higher ups the wrong way. Then they dumped ice all over him.

They can make anybody a star if they want to. Kofi did it. Mark Henry went on a tear towards the end of his career. Makes me think of guys like Morrison who flounder for years. They can strap the rocket to anybody they want really. This isn't UFC where decisions are out of their hands. With their video packages, editing team and marketing machine...anybody can get over. Stay over? I dunno. But get over? absolutely. They could make a video package of the biggest jobber on the roster. Add the right song, create the narrative that they want, and you'll get them over.

He’s X-Pac with more staying power. I'd say he's Billy Gunn, just with a bit more Singles ability.

I keep thinking back to Survivor Series 2014 and how what followed could have, _should_ have put him on the path to the main event, stepping in where Bryan couldn't at the time. As the "saviour" of WWE against the Authority, he could have ridden that wave all the way to a Rumble win, a Wrestlemania title shot, a whole lot of "what ifs" that might have changed the course of the company. At this point, though, I don't think it's in the cards for him. His role is to give back. It’s probably because he was never the original plan to get the pin...he was the back up. God forbid he came out of that looking like a superstar but Vince doesn't know how to call an audible. Look how long it took them to pull the trigger on Bryan after he got over on his own. They had their Batista and the Authority vs Rock/Ronda plans and not Dolph, Bryan or Sting we’re gonna derail that.

He’s X-Pac with more staying power. I don't disagree, but this is probably more of a compliment than you mean it to be.

Dolph needed to to get out of WWE years ago. Go out, bet on himself, and prove that he was worth more than what they gave him. Then maybe he could have come back with some sort of fire in him. Instead he just hung around, whining about the same shit. He's been stuck on this angst phase for the better part of 5 years now. It's old.

Dolph would’ve benefitted so much if AEW was a thing 5 years ago, now I feel he’s damaged goods as far as North American wrestling goes unless he takes a looong hiatus.

Dolph ziggler has all the talent in the world and is a merging of curt hennig and Shawn Michaels in terms of in ring. He makes it look too easy at times.
I think when dolph cashed in MITB after mania on Del rio(even allowing for the post mania crowd) and got a monster pop, they had something but injury happened and that derailed him but if WWE were serious they'd have kept his push going. It's always stop start with him which doesn't help him, or the fans perception of him. As arn Anderson has said "there's a difference between fans seeing you and caring about you" and yes dolph has around for years but I'm sure I'm not alone in this, I need a reason to care about a wrestler.
Him teasing leaving and then not probably hasn't helped. Either shit or get off the pot.
