Not me, but the mother of a podcast host
“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”
Real lyrics “the girl with kaleidoscope eyes” What she heard “the girl with colitis goes by”
I know only singalong using her version.

When I first heard “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)” the first few times I thought the chorus line:
“So don’t debate”
was:
“So Don’t Drink Paint”

There is a song on the first Static X album and the lyrics sound like "Tuna fish jello, drop the banana fish".
I know that can't possibly be what he's saying, but I sing those words anyway lol.

A couple of ones from Stranger In Moscow
"I copped a feel" instead of "How does it feel?"
And "When you're alone in the golden sigh" instead of "When you're alone and you're cold inside"

Misfits-Bullet
"Like a corn feeder lasso and the only way to get it is to suck and ..."
I am pretty sure the first 5 words are totally wrong.

Not a lyric but for the longest time, I thought Alice in Chains was Alison Chains, like the lead singer was named Alison Chains.

I used to think R.E.M's The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite had the lyrics "call me Chet Baker" instead of “Call me when you try to wake her” Chet Baker was a Jazz musician, who they did end up referencing in a later song She Just Wants To Be For me, it was "Call me a Jamaican" Also, one I never thought was real for obvious reasons, but I can't resist singing "Mu-mu-mu- MIKE SHINODA!"

Thought Batista's "I Walk Alone" theme was "I wore cologne." Thought it was an odd thing to sing.

Bjork- Hyperballad The actual lyric: "I go through all this, Before you wake up So I can feel happier, To be safe up here with you"
Up until yesterday I had been singing "...to be, safe again with you"
Another lyric I JUST learned this year, Queen "Somebody to Love":
"Ooh, each morning I get up I die a little"

Jimi Hendrix. Purple Haze. “ ‘Scuse me while I kiss this guy” Doesn't help that there's the few lives performances where he actually says this and points to a dude in the front row

I always thought the Big Boi line towards the end of International Players Anthem was "ask Paul McCartney; the lawyers gettin' sloppy" but it's "lawyers couldn't stop me".

In "Come Out and Play" by the Offspring, the start of the chorus goes
"Hey! Man, you talkin' back to me? Take him out!"
I thought for the longest time "take him out!" was "drink your milk!" I thought this well into my adult years.

I used to think R.E.M's The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite had the lyrics "call me Chet Baker" instead of “Call me when you try to wake her” Chet Baker was a Jazz musician, who they did end up referencing in a later song She Just Wants To Be God, I spent years trying to work out what those lyrics were. I didn't even mishear, I just couldn't decipher them.
Any Europeans of a certain age probably spent a good chunk of their childhoods like me, hearing "Freed From Desire" by Gala and wondering what a trombolise was.
