It still baffles me how this company isn't bleeding money with how often they seem to just spite their audience and talent than for no other reason than to appease the ego of an out-of-touch old man. It’s because the show is no longer the draw. The draw is to watch and complain about how people are being used. CM Punk said fans were like an abused wife or husband and there’s never been a truer statement.

every time a wcw/big company/indy talent went to wwf/wwe, the inevitable repackage reasoning has always been the same "you're not a star until vince makes you a star" that's always been his mindset and it's become more and more destructive to wwe as time has gone on, get over without vince's guiding hand and you suffer because of it and russev is another example of it as was bad news barrett.
must be frustrating as hell for those who can see it happening repeatedly but are powerless to do anything about it as vince is going to be in control until the day he drops.

It still baffles me how this company isn't bleeding money with how often they seem to just spite their audience and talent than for no other reason than to appease the ego of an out-of-touch old man. WWE keeps failing upward in a favorable media landscape. Ratings are going down and we know it isn't solely an expression of TV ratings going down because attendance and merch are all sinking too, but USA needs anything at all to help their numbers and Fox just sold off huge chunks of itself and wanted tentpole programming. The company's only value right now is as a glorified content farm, and how much its actual fanbase matters means increasingly less and less by the second. This isn't about the fans and hasn't been for a very long time. Everything they're doing now is wringing the value they can out of what the company's name still means, and as its ratings sink lower it puts the company on a course it's not going to be able to pull itself back from in a post-Vince world. They're doing irreparable damage and there may not be any way to come back from it, as the weight of years of Vince doing shit like exactly what Rusev describes becomes too much for them to shake off.

This should surprise me... it totally doesn’t... but when you think about who Vince is as a global business owner, in a normal and rational world this should be very hard to believe. Just try to imagine any other prominent business owner willingly leaving that money on the table to spite... I don’t even know who.
The state of your company, man!

That’s why Cena was the man all those years: they didn’t print enough t-shirts.

You f***ing kidding me?! Like, what was the excuse for the calendars selling out, “fans don’t usually buy WWE calendars as much so this was a novelty”? Christ... Manufacturer - We want to print more calendars. Vince - Fans are just f***ing with you. They are mocking the Gregorian calendar.

I always had this odd feeling that Vince legitimately didn't like Rusev because he's a large foreigner who married a hot American blonde.

Its what everyone with any common sense has said about Vince
He will make any excuses to push his favorites and depush who is over but he doesnt like
Charlotte/Reigns will get 1000 Pushes,Merchandises and Media Appearence until fans learn to like them and even convince themselves they were always actually that good.
Rusev,Ryder?Though shit ,there is always an asterisk. You are never truly over

Don't discount the effect of Rusev having the personality of a goofy, friendly, uncompetitive hipster. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince is existentially threatened by the idea that men like that could succeed.

Vince is blatantly just gaslighting the people who make him money and undercutting their confidence and career prospects so they remain meek and don't challenge his perception of what the show should be, even when it would be more advantageous to divest from that vision and put on something that would make him more money. "You aren't really over, they're f***ing with you" is on a level of abhorrent in its implication that we've not actually seen from the stories of mind games Vince in recent years.

CM Punk said fans were like an abused wife or husband and there’s never been a truer statement. Punk is spot on with this, and I think it's even more true with the talent that isn't in Vince's good graces. Hearing the stuff said by them post-WWE career, whether they're in another company or out of wrestling altogether, sounds like Classic Abuser Rationale 101 on Vince's/WWE's part. The gaslighting, the empty promises that go nowhere, the implied or overt threats, and the Stockholm Syndrome-esque rationale from unhappy fans and talents alike that keeps them coming back despite knowing better.

Before my kids fell out of love with wrestling, my oldest made a crayon drawing of the Bulgarian flag that had Happy Rusev Day written on it that he taped to his bedroom door. That was really the last vestige of caring he had about the product. That's all I have to add here really. It wasn't mockery. Vince killed your son's love of wrestling. That bastard.

Vince is a cancer to the company. There's simply no nicer way to say it. The WWF had terminal cancer. And it was Vince. So he injected it with a lethal dose of poison. And that poison.....was Vince.

WWE has been a disaster for over a decade. They have occasional hits but it’s a majority misses
