My two thoughts are Taker and Zelina Vega. 2020 has been defined by this pandemic and part of that involves the issues facing talent regarding their independent contractor status. With Zelina being fired for her stance, she stands out immediately. But Taker also stands out because he put on a classic match that was different than any we saw all year because of COVID. He also retired amidst the pandemic in a way that none of us expected. He also has just dominated the headlines because of his documentary and overall stature in the industry. I'm going to go with Zelina but it's close for me.

To me this year is all about their increasingly scuzzy behaviour as a company. So from the list I suppose Vega and Dream represent that best... in two very different ways.
Really though it's Vince but then you could say that most years. Mybe someone like Road Dogg, the new exec that started the twitch crap etc.

By Time criteria and the way they do it, it would be "The Independent Contractor"
(Or Slapjack)

There's Roman whose bowing out thanks to the pandemic threw a wrench into Mania, and 4 months after. And then he came back rejuvenated.
There's also Rudy Gobert, who despite not being a wrestler had the biggest impact on wrestling and all of sports. His joking self tested positive and got everything shut down.

By Time criteria and the way they do it, it would be "The Independent Contractor" (Or Slapjack) If that was an option, I would’ve chosen it. “Zelina Vega” wasn’t enough for me. Undertaker and Reigns were such clear votes. Taker has dominated the airwaves all year long. We got to see Mark Calaway behind the curtain like never before. And then Reigns coming back and showing that Vince never needed to jam him down our throats, he really IS The Man and he can do it simply by being himself. Just HOF work.

for on screen stuff Drew pretty easily.
From January to now his world title run has been the A story of the company.

Zelina Vega (or "The Independent Contractor", as someone suggested above) deserves WWE Person of the Year, if only for the potential for major change.
That being said, I'm surprised Edge doesn't have more votes. His comeback may be among the greatest in wrestling history.

That being said, I'm surprised Edge doesn't have more votes. His comeback may be among the greatest in wrestling history. Edge was just bad timing. It was over shadowed by two huge events. His Rumble return was on the day Kobe Bryant died. His Wrestlemania match was in the PC with no fans. Two crazy events, plus his injury. Edge's comeback is sort of forgotten by many in this crazy year we live in.

Vega.
Comebacks and retirements are a dime a dozen in this industry, but someone who stands up to push real change in what is still seen, in many eyes, as a "black-eye" in the entertainment business, is a HUGE step in the right direction.
To hell with Vince and his narrative, Vega has momentum to finally steer this business into something that isn't a scuzzy mess.
Then again, who knows, maybe the scuzziness is part of the charm?
Wait, what was the question?
Oh, yes. Vega.

Glad Drew is winning this. He's been the lead since the Rumble.

We can talk about how Vince is finally going to get his comeuppance here all we want... but right now Zelina's firing hasn't done anything yet.
and if it DOES it won't likely until next year.

Never ever thought I'd have voted for him but I've gone for Roman. Mostly because of how much more enjoyable he is to me to watch this year and change my feelings about seeing him on the tv from ''ugh'' to ''hmmm'' to ''ok what's going to happen now?''.
Any other year I probably would've just voted Alexa for her character change this year as I personally feel she's really nailed it.

Quite honestly, every single year until he's in the ground, the award should go to Vince McMahon by default. When it comes to WWE, he is always the person who most affected the news, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year in the biggest wrestling company in the world.
Every single major wrestling news story in 2020 was filtered through the lens of how it either affected Vince McMahon or how Vince McMahon affected it. The delay in moving WrestleMania out of Raymond James Stadium and into an empty arena? That was viewed as Vince McMahon holding out for the almighty dollar over people's wellbeing. Wrestling being deemed an essential business in Florida and being able to continue on during the shutdown? That was viewed as Vince McMahon greasing palms with some government higher-ups. The outbreaks at the Performance Center? That was viewed as Vince McMahon (and his underlings) not taking the virus seriously enough. The Velveteen Dream situation? While more at the feet of Triple H, people still placed blame at Vince McMahon, because he calls the shots above all else. The controversy over wrestlers making money outside of the company via streaming services? That was viewed as Vince McMahon screwing over his talent. Lars Sullivan returning to the ring and getting prominent screen time? People argued Vince McMahon is giving second chances to a bigot. Zelina Vega being let go from the company and then Tweeting that she supports unions? That was viewed as the opening salvo of a direct battle with Vince McMahon.
Until he's no longer affiliated with WWE, Vince McMahon is the de facto WWE Person of the Year and there's no way to even argue it.

Add the XFL collapse and it's Vince's year.

Drew vs Zelina. Who will win?
Notice the five people at the bottom of the list each had a big year for different reasons.
Seth: Good professional year in general Sonya: Victim of a crime Velveteen: Accused of a crime Undertaker: Veteran retiring Vega: Union stuff

I went with Zelina, because her release called attention to WWE's shady policies on a level they are not prepared for. Roman Reigns, who refused to work WrestleMania due to the pandemic and not only was not punished for it, he was given what many consider the best run of his career thus far. I was tempted to vote someone like Riddle, Lars or Dream, for similar reasons as Zelina, but ultimately went with "other", so that I could pick Slapjack. Because really.
