A lot of the Rock's 20o0-2002 stuff has aged like milk A lot of Rock's stuff in general has aged like milk. Which is more than can be said about the stuff he came up with during his most recent comebacks. It's like he went out of his way too see just how little effort he could put into a response and have it still trend on Twitter. The Rock 1997(post heel turn) through 1999 was amazing with insults and promos. In 2000 he was starting to get a little goofy, but he was still cool. But honestly everything post 2003 heel run has been a miss for me. I mentioned this in a different thread, but in the build-up to their first match, Cena was cutting some of his best promos of his career imo. Meanwhile Rock was rambling about Kung Pow Chicken, Fruity Pebbles and "lady parts." And like it got people to chant, and trended on Twitter. But as a fan, it made me completely want to root for Cena. But hey, maybe that was the goal all along.

Whether or not the material is any good or not is irrelevant, because of Rock's silver tongue.

I think a big part of me finding his 2012 promos lame is also because by then I was a pretty jaded fan. Also regarding personal tastes, I like when there's a vibe of serious heat between wrestlers. I did like when Rock got pissed off and got in Cena's face and was being very serious. I won't deny that he got those sayings and phrases over, even if I wasn't a fan of them, because Rock does have that special ability to get almost any goofy thing over.

Not that The Rock was a bad worker, but he's living proof that you can be a top guy long as you got the gift of gab and know how to be at least fair to midland in the ring.

I’ll just go ahead and give my go-to response to this thread: “just because both our names end in ‘ER’ doesn’t mean I won’t send you to the ER!” ~Zack RydER to Jack SwaggER Good lord, I cringed out of my skin just reading that.

"You had sex with an unbelievably attractive woman! ZOOM!" Well, Woods was engaged or certainly involved with the woman who is now his wife at the time that was recorded so he very much got busted for stepping out on her.

I recall briefly during the attitude era Triple H tried making "The Crock" an insult to The Rock. Made DX look f***ing playpen. I remember when DX would dress up as the Nation or Corporation, he'd refer to himself as "The Crock" like Road Dogg was "B-Lo" and X-Pac was "Mizzark Henry". I don't remember him using it in a promo though. A funny thing about lame insults is it's all about the delivery. Like people have pointed out about The Rock, his insults were pretty lame, but his delivery of them was spectacular. New Day have a lot of those too. Jerk Business was mentioned and Kofi even talked about that on the New Day podcast that he knew it was lame, but the way he and Woods reacted to it made it work. They had a funny one with Orton years back when Big E said Seth not only had Orton's number, but he had it on speed dial. That is not only lame, it makes no real sense, but they acted like it was a huge burn and even Orton reacted like he saw them key his car.

My go to answer is always Y2Cheap, for somehow not working on any level. Why would you accuse Jericho of being cheap? That doesn't have anything to do with his character. And "cheap" in no way rhymes with "J". Hell, even if he had called Jericho "Y2Cheat" after saying that he sucks for cheating in matches would (while still being really lame) at least make some kind of sense!
"JBL is poopy" at least has a clear meaning behind it. Cena doesn't like him, and JBL would be offended by it. The only appropriate reaction to being called Y2Cheap should've been Jericho just looking confused.

Kane calling Seth Rollins "Justin Bieber"
Seth calling Jericho "Sparkle crotch"
God... You can tell Vince wrote both of these and thought they were absolutely hilarious.

Not really an insult but a weird Hogan one.
I asked the big Hulkamaniac in the sky, why, why, why, does JJ Dillon lie?

I wonder if Rock knew how bad his insults were, but he was like, "I bet I can go out there and get them to chant anything."
