#390 - Spider-Man: No Way Home
*IMAX Theater
I'm not going to spoil anything here but I loved everything about this movie. It made me laugh, it made me cry multiple times, and it somehow stuck the seemingly impossible landing of fitting in so many characters from so many movies and making it all work. They gave me every moment I could've wanted. [*****]

*AppleTV+
I think this worked really well as a sci-fi movie that isn't too over the top in concept, focusing more on the emotional and character driven drama than the technology at hand. Mahershala Ali is his usual phenomenal self, while I again enjoyed Awkwafina in a supporting role. I wasn't blown away by anything but the performances though. [***½]

133. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) 134. Knight Rider 2000 (1991) 135. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)Easily the most packed I've seen a movie theater since the pandemic started. It was an opening Friday matinee 11AM showing and the theater was practically full. I can't imagine what the evening showings are gonna look like. Trying to avoid spoilers (figured I'd save them for the dedicated thread), so I'm not sure what else to say. Really fun movie. I kinda wish it was longer (something I very rarely say for any movie nowadays), but there was so much great character interaction going on that you could've easily gotten another insanely entertaining hour into this movie of just certain character riffing off each other.

214. Spider-Man: No Way Home - Saw this in theaters. Man, the theater was packed for this one. It was as packed as when I went to see Shang-Chi back in September. I am going to avoid spoilers, but all I can say is that this concept worked as its like the live-action version of "Into the Spider-Verse," or maybe that is this movie actually is. There was a lot of great action and special effects, chemistry and character interaction, and also some emotional moments that will hit the feels.
The only thing that I will say that is the closest to a spoiler is that one day I may have to binge on all Spider-Man movies, whether it's the 2000s Spider-Man movies (from Sam Raimi), the Amazing Spider-Man movies, and the MCU Spider-Man movies. Hell, I may have to throw in "Into the Spider-Verse" as well.

134. Knight Rider 2000 (1991) 135. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) 136. The Christmas Toy (1986)So I'm up to day four of my Twelve Days of Muppet-mas Marathon and, unlike the previous three days where my selections were listed as "specials", Wikipedia says this is a "film", so I'm throwing it up here. Just a very sweet TV movie from my childhood that makes me sad to watch.

#392 - Spider-Man: No Way Home
*Theater
Loved it just as much the second time but the crowd sucked and they didn’t pop for any of the cool moments. [*****]
#393 - Before Midnight
*Showtime
It's certainly not as fun or breezy as the first two charming installments but this one is still just as great. It doesn't shy away from the harsh reality of how your dream romance can end up becoming something angry and less desirable after years. Again, it's driven by the fantastic work of Hawke and Delpy. [*****½]
#394 - Just Friends
*Netflix
The entire concept of the "friend zone" certainly doesn't hold up today but I can't help but love this movie. Reynolds and Smart have strong chemistry, while Marquette and Hagerty are hilarious. I love watching this during the holidays. [****]

135. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) 136. The Christmas Toy (1986) 137. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)Up to Day 6 of the Twelve Days of Muppet-mas and another "film" as opposed to a "special". Just a really good adaptation with some great songs.

#395 - Atlantis: The Lost Empire
*Disney+
Been waiting a long time to finally see this one. I thought it delivered. I liked how it's different than typical Disney animated films without music and aspects like that. It's a really fun adventure with likable characters that I thoroughly enjoyed. [****]
#396 - Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

5 stars for Lucy Liu. -2 stars for Justin Theroux's Irish accent. -1/2 star for not enough Lucy Liu. [**½]
#397 - Charlie's Angels (2019)
*Starz
People were way too harsh on this. Is it great? No. Is it a harmless good time? Absolutely. I love Kristen Stewart and just had fun watching this. Plus, there's a Hailee Steinfeld cameo, so it's a win. [***]

#398 - Sing
*Blu-Ray
Watched this for the second time ever and had a good time again. It's pretty generic in a handful of ways but there are enjoyable characters, a few fun musical numbers, and a solid story at the center. [***½]
#399 - The Craft
*Starz
I really like this movie but honestly, I wish it was gayer. [****]

#400 - The Purge: Anaerchy
*Blu-Ray
I still say this is the best entry in the franchise. It gave us more of the wild nature of the night, included a few interesting characters (though some were very unlikable), and was pretty intense. [***½]

#401 - The Matrix Resurrections
*HBOMax
I thought this got off to a really interesting start with a sick opening scene. It hits a lull as they set things in motion and the plot drags at a few points before picking up for a frantic finish. I do think part of the ending seems abrupt and like there's more story to tell. It's not as satisfying as it should be. Still, there's a ton of cool action sequences and it's great to see these actors shine back in these roles. [***½]

149. 8 Bit Christmas
A boy in 1988 wants a Nintendo Entertainment System and will go to extreme lengths to get one. Wacky hijinks ensue. The ending is a bit weak, but overall the movie is good.

215. Santa's Slay - Watched this on Peacock. I had heard that this movie had received cult status over the years, and with good reason, too. I laughed so hard when I watched this. This movie did not take itself seriously and was presented as a horror-comedy. Plus, this movie didn't try to hide the fact that Santa Claus was played by Bill Goldberg, who did a bunch of things that he was known for (not to mention wore a bit of his own merchandise in one sequence), who made the role so damn fun to watch. All of that charisma and hammy acting, you almost wanted to root for Santa instead of the other characters.

150. The Thing
Over winter break, Hunter has to watch a movie and write a review of it for his English class. This is the movie he chose and I am always up for a classic eighties movie. Kurt Russell in his prime. Great claustrophobic atmosphere. Amazing special effects for its time. My favorite John Carpenter movie.

I knew a lot about this from pop culture but had never seen it in full. What an experience. This movie has everything. Great performances, heartbreaking scenes, a captivating narrative, Morgan Freeman, and an ending that actually feels satisfying. It lived up to the hype. [*****]

216. Jack Frost (1997) - Watched this on Peacock. FYI, this is the horror-comedy version of Jack Frost, not the Michael Keaton film of the same name. I have to say that this film is entertaining for what it's aiming to do. Being that this horror-comedy, it's almost like a parody of slasher films that happens to be set around Christmas. Hell, some of the film's score were renditions of traditional Christmas songs, which worked in some scenes. It's not really a scary film per se, as slasher movies in general are more about the killings than trying to scare its audience. Plus, the guy who played the titular character, whether it was on-screen or voice-acting, seemed like he had fun playing the role. It's a fun film that doesn't take itself seriously.
