Shouts-out to the handful of skeptics in the original thread who said this would be completely forgotten about in six months.

Right, who could forget the whole storyline technically ending in a Triple H v Kevin Nash ladder match? (CM Punk isn't even the biggest "unperson" involved in the whole thing, that would probably be Alberto Del Rio now with all his criminal troubles)

Whether it's Jericho's debut promo or CM Punk's Pipebomb. 20 Years. 10 Years. What they said isn't a lie and it honestly gets more and more true as the years go on.
On the flipside, Colt Cabana is doing great these days!

It's been 10 years and I am still insanely curious about that personal Vince McMahon story and how it correlated to the Anti-Bullying campaign because I can't remember him ever telling it.

It was a cool moment when it happened but i feel like the impact got dulled as the years went on because a lot of the shock factor relied on how "inside" it felt:
Oh my god he mentioned Paul Heyman - Heyman returns to the company Oh my god he mentioned Brock Lesnar - he returns too He mentioned ROH and Colt - they worked with them on documentaries He mentioned backstage people like Johnny Ace - now he's a character Punk seems legit pissed - oh wait he's still on the Australia tour
For me it just doesn't stand the test of time. That also has to do with how the storyline went and where Punk ended up. I know i may be alone in thinking that though.

On the flip side I think Punk was amazing at creating a legit shoot feel while rarely* breaking kayfabe and that's why the angle worked and is still talked about a decade later. * Except that awful line with hhh using their real names.

Guess who is the featured article on Wikipedia today. Stephanie McMahon? WWE took the wrong lesson from the Pipebomb. What made it great, was that Punk was railing against the WWE machine. His target wasn't Cena, he even mentioned that he liked Cena, he just hates the idea that Cena is better than him. His target was Vince and the machine. WWE forgot that, and had these "pipebombs" where somebody buried their opponent.

I went to a houseshow that Saturday and it was great. Punk tried shit talking Vince again, the mic cut and then he had an awesome match with Rey Mysterio. Now excuse me while I cry because I hate time.

I know people loved this storyline but to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of it.
Not only was it written poorly but I just don't like to see the whole "worked shoot" thing in my wrestling.
I like being able to switch off. I don't like being constantly reminded that it's all fake and "they keep booking me to lose bro!"
Its cheap, it's lazy and I'm tired of it.
Give me Kane vs Taker storytelling any day over this stuff.

I liked when they had AJ Lee pretend to do one a year or two later

And I like Kane and Taker stuff but some of those whacky storyline choices for them was odd

A great moment, no doubt. Helped catapult the guy to his premier work and leave the business. Changed the company too. At the time, it really rejuvenated my interest in wrestling that’d been waning since ‘06//‘07.
