I swear every year I get excited for the Rumble because of nostalgia, then I spend the whole time being irritated by all of the annoying tropes: - Tossing someone over the ropes and immediately walking off, assuming you've eliminated them. - Leaning over the top rope to taunt someone you've eliminated and being eliminated yourself. - Rolling out of the ring and being allowed to go back in whenever. - The two feet rule. If you're laying on your f***ing back, you should be out of the match. The back thing did at least give us Austin Theory thinking "oh I'm not eliminated, so I can just kip up onto my feet and get back in"

I drives me wild whenever a strong wrestler would press his opponent over his head but instead of tossing the guy over the ropes like a smart man he just drops the guy back on the mat. Or as I like to call it "The Davey Boy Smith." "The Lex Luger" or "The Crush" also works. I remember that used to annoy me so much when I was a kid in the mid 90's. Davey Boy was probably the worst of the three though. He could've ended Flair's night in 92 before it even got started as he had him dead to rights with no one else in the ring but nope he for whatever reason he decided that slamming to the mat was a better idea. Now that I think about I do remember Crush finally trying to toss Shawn press slam style in 95 but Shawn raked him in the eyes and then when he was stunned by the ropes, Davey Boy clotheslined him out. So I guess that could maybe be why they wouldn't try the elimination as it would leave you vulnerable for someone else to eliminate you while you were by the ropes. If you just slam them in the middle of the ring you're not putting yourself at risk and are also doing damage to the opponent. I'm probably giving them too much credit and they were just being meatheads but if you think about it I think it makes sense.

My favorite Rumble trope is when a big name gets eliminated by someone didn't expect. Heath Slater eliminating Sheamus in 2018 was great. Drew McIntyre eliminating Brock Lesnar was the best because I seriously thought that Brock was either gonna win that Rumble or Cain Velasquez was going to show up and throw him out. Drew taking him out was a great surprise. Least favorite Rumble trope: someone getting taken out of the match and then coming back several minutes later. It sucks because some guy gets to be the Iron Man despite spending most of the time out of the match. That time out of the match shouldn't count. Also, people rolling out of the ring to take a breather and come back is just lame and little bit cheating. Can't they just have the person lay down on the mat holding onto the bottom rope, like Road Dogg in 2000? People just laying outside of the ring without being eliminated makes it hard to keep track of who's in the match. That was really bad in the 2018 Women's Rumble. Corbin taking out Strowman in 2017 I think is my favorite version of this trope. It totally caught me off guard and on top of that it was also a really cool looking spot. Corbin came at him like a bat out of a hell with the clothesline and Strowman sold it really well too as he really launched himself over the top.
