Triple H crying and Oscar-baiting at the end of his match with Lesnar only for the crowd to gleefully chant "you tapped out!" at him.

"Brock Lesnar broke my arm." /HHH That could have worked, if they booked the match last Brock vs Cena earlier that year. Brock murdered Cena to the point where Chicago, freaking Chicago, started cheering for Cena. Brock was booked as the uncaring unstoppable sick monster, and it got people to sympathize with Cena. It was Superman going against Doomsday and being completely overmatched, fans wondered "Wait, if Cena can't stop him, who can" easy story to tell. But when they did Triple H vs Brock, Trips got in way too much offense and stood toe to toe with him. In that case, fans are gonna cheer for the actual asskicker. Plus Triple H is just a terrible babyface in general. He's never vulnerable or likeable and he never garners any sympathy.

They were aiming for an ultra serious moment with the Stage Collapse spot but the "I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS PAUL!" from Vince had everybody laughing their asses off. It's like they can never just let something happen. Somebody always has to talk over the drama and 98% of the time it makes it forced garbage. Like the post Fandangomania show "HEY EVERYBODY LETS FANDANGO" was the definition of forced bullshit. Just let the crowd do their thing and roll with it.

What seems forced for one person might not seem that way for someone else. Cena had a lot of fans, despite the constant complaints from the internet.
For me, Shawn Michaels babyface turn seemed ridiculously forced. Here we had a dude pulling his tights down low enough to flash his pubes on one PPV and on the next he's hugging little girls in the ring, all the while Vince is just crowing about what an absolute treasure he is with schoolboy crush beaming from his face. I couldn't think of one thing to like about the guy, yet there are grown men in the audience reacting to him like 10 year old girls seeing the Backstreet Boys for the first time.

Cena proposing to Nikki at Wrestlemania will always win this for me. What an forced and stupid f***ing moment that was.

Not wrestling but HLA and Live Sex Celebration. You knew nothing was going to happen and it was just a cheap attempt to try and recreate the "edginess" of the Attitude Era. Both were stupid as hell and King acting like a horny teenager made it even worst. I'll see both and raise you KATIE VICK.

Jack Swagger being a big happy goofball heel until he wins the World Title and suddenly he's SRS Jericho, even though he just beat SRS Jericho for said title. I had some non fans over for that Mania and out of all the wrestlers they didnt already know Swagger was the only one to catch their attention. His Kurt Angle esque goofy jock character worked. Then he won the title and lost all of that.

Orton and Cena having a Rock/Austin-esque staredown in the Royal Rumble match to absolutely zero reaction. This so much. They did that spot 2 times, and tried at least one other, no one gave a damn. I'm not a hater of either men or anything, but that's one of the few times that I went "you know what? Good!"

I've been defending Hager for YEARS and I felt insane when people thought he was bland at the time or whatever. You are absolutely right that his schtick worked, and he could've been way bigger than he's ended up being. Always gonna be mad about that one.

Then he won the title and lost all of that. I was an extremely casual viewer at that time and Swagger was one guy who really stood out for me. I can't think of anyone who I've lost interest in faster. Then the Real American gimmick made him an instant channel changer.

I'll throw in another one, this time more obscure:
Anyone remember when they tried to bill Cena vs HHH at Night of Champions 2008 as a "moment in time"?
Did anyone even remember that match within a few months? They made it sound like it was Hogan/Rock.

In my opinion? I know I'm not going to win anyone's popularity contest with this one, but I think pretty much everything after King of the Ring 2001. There were some moments, but nothing felt organic anymore. Hell, I would argue to say it started happening the very next night on Raw after Wrestlemania X7.

Orton and Cena having a Rock/Austin-esque staredown in the Royal Rumble match to absolutely zero reaction. Twice! They did that shit twice in the same match, neither time getting a reaction.

So, when someone who's even more of a badass, kicks his ass, that type of character isn't gonna garner any sympathy.

The Randy Orton vs. John Cena title unification.
I mean it was arguably the two biggest full-timers in their prime legitimately crowning the first undisputed top champion in years. Yet, it just seemed so dull.

Hmmmm......I mean, naturally I would agree with you, but I did think Trips was pretty vulnerable in his feud with Benoit in September/October 2000 that had Trips being the face. I would also argue that he was pretty likeable when he was stacked up in his feud with Kurt Angle around the same time. While dated AF now, I laughed heartily at The Game making fun of Angle about him crying at the 1996 Olympics. I would consider the beginning of Triple H's face turn after Summerslam 2000. It's a shame they ruined that build with that stupid Austin storyline reveal.

Lex Luger's babyface run. The Narcissist is suddenly a huge patriot set on taking down the dastardly Yokozuna.
It was Hulk Hogan minus the charisma and ten times more "America, f*** yeah"
Not to mention he won their Summerslam match VIA COUNTDOWN and was celebrating like he vanquished the 500 pounder despite NOT WINNING THE f***ing CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! I mean, Luger shouldn't have been in that spot to begin with, but if he had to be put there, have him pin him to make it less forced then it was already. Not to mention it made him look like a f***ing idiot in the process.
