Oh, I'd say Cody setting himself on fire is a brand-new qualifier. That wouldn't even be in the top 5 of forced Cody moments. Losing one match on TV and out of nowhere cutting a teary promo implying he was retiring then leaving his boots in the ring. Leaving a ladder match early so he could return at the end with the big dramatic babyface comeback spot only to be booed out the arena. That period when he was coming to the ring for random TV matches with an entourage of 20 people. That race/US V UK promo plus main event style press conference/weigh in segments wasted on the terrible Ogogo feud. And of course: I remember that image. It came off as trying real hard to pander to the smarks. Another one that hasn't been mentioned was the Eddiesploition storyline where they kept pointing to the sky to remind us where Eddie is. Not to mention Eddie "playing tricks" on Rey by having him draw #2 in the Rumble and trying to play it off as cute. Oh, and lets not forget Randy Orton saying "Eddie is in hell."

I should've been more specific...I was more referring to 2006 & onwards. Oh, yeah. Well in that case, yes, I absolutely agree with you on that. Wasn't that around the time he was feuding with Umaga? I caught some random episode in passing where Trips magically produced a sledgehammer and hit Umaga with it and won, even though Umaga was dominating the entire match. I had already stopped watching WWE for years at that point, but yeah, that always struck me as weird. Then the stories about Triple H not wanting to look weak on promotional material and video games. Sorry for the confusion. I wholeheartedly apologize. That's cool...no need to apologize.

I just remember one Rumble where Cena and Orton are having a staredown and people are having none of it because they never gave a shit about that rivalry before

I just remember one Rumble where Cena and Orton are having a staredown and people are having none of it because they never gave a shit about that rivalry before The sad thing is people did give a shit about it then they completely ran it into the ground. When Cena was the US champ on Smackdown and Orton was the IC champ on Raw they were clearly the future of the company and there was a buzz whenever they would tease anything between them (like the backstage segment at Summerslam 2004). Their first real big match (they had a quick match on the Eddie tribute show in 2005 but that was basically non-canon) at Summerslam 2007 did a massive buyrate, despite the rest of the card being really weak (it beat 2006 which was way more stacked with Hogan v Orton, DX v McMahons, Flair v Foley, Edge v Cena and Batista v Booker). Their feud got big reactions in 2007/08 and probably should have main evented Wrestlemania 24 to blow it off instead of the triple threat with HHH. Orton injures Cena, takes his title, Cena returns at the Rumble to earn his shot and regains the title at Wrestlemania. It writes itself but they had to shoehorn HHH into it. 2009 is where the real damage was done though. After that period when they had 4 straight PPV matches people were just done with ever seeing them wrestle again.

Every single time the WWE has ever tried to be funny, ever. They do not have a tendency to gracefully and naturally set up their punchlines. I will defend Eugene’s Musical Chairs to this day.

The single exception I would argue is when Triple H and Flair were seen in the background driving a forklift during a completely unrelated segment. This was from like 2005 or 06. Of course in this case, the exception goes to prove the rule.

Every single time the WWE has ever tried to be funny, ever. They do not have a tendency to gracefully and naturally set up their punchlines. I mean... fair. However, Carlito and Masters locking Kane in a room and Show trying to free him is one of the funniest things WWE has ever put on TV. "I'M COMING, KANE!!" *Kane walks up behind Show* "Need some help?" "...How'd you get out?!" "There was another door." "...Well they're not very smart, are they?!" Kills me every time.

I can't speak on anything they've done int he past 5 years or so, but that Bryan Danielson/Kane team up, them going to therapy and their dynamic in their actual matches was some pure comedy

That's the thing, the WWE can be funny but it is mostly by accident. They then run it into the ground. Titus falling flat on his face and sliding under the ring was funny and then they beat that horse to death, performed a séance, resurrected the horse, and beat it to death again.
Diesel's face turn. Diesel in his heel run was gold and then he became smiling, hand slapping, happy to be here type when he should have just been the ass kicker that he was. Kevin Nash is charismatic as all hell but was cut off at the knees being that type of face. There is a reason he is way up there on the list of worst WWE champions ever.

WWE's attempt at making Vladimir Kozlov a big deal fairly quick, with a months long undefeated streak, including a win over The Undertaker. It ended at one of those "fans vote on the match" PPVs, where the choices for champion HHH's PPV opponent were Kozlov, Jeff Hardy, or both Kozlov and Hardy together. Even with the commentators going full-bore about how great triple threat matches are and how they make it more likely that HHH will lose the championship, Jeff Hardy by himself had nearly 2/3 of the vote. No one wanted to watch Vladimir Kozlov.
Any time a wrestler is suddenly "deathly afraid" of something that never bothered them before to set up a match or feud. Andre the Giant and Bad News Brown both became "deathly afraid" of snakes so they could feud with Jake. Worse, Heidenreich revealed he was "deathly afraid" of caskets. Like, is caskets even a real phobia? Enclosed spaces, sure, but caskets specifically? I believe Mark Henry and Viscera were also "deathly afraid" of caskets, and Heidenreich was "deathly afraid" of ambulances.

I still think if they wanted to do it, they could have had they gone the Megapowers route. The two always had good chemistry when "forced" to team for angles in tag matches, so I'd have been down to see the two as a super team for a few months to a year.

Ryback's heel turn
The segment had him clothesline John Cena to the biggest cheer of the night then he held up the WWE Championship and played to the crowd who were chanting "Feed Me More". Anyone watching that would have interpreted it as him simply making a statement that he wanted the title.
Instead Michael Cole forcibly emphasised that he had turned heel just because it was Cena that he attacked. WWE could have easily made it face vs face and it would have worked. Instead they turned Ryback heel and he never recovered.
