Well at least they don't have any shows they need a lot of wrestlers for coming up like *checks notes* THE ROYAL RUMBLE?

Will this lead to the return of the Thunderdome? Probably not. Reduced capacity shows? Maybe. We'd have to get into a situation described here earlier where a variant comes along that is super dangerous and super transmissible but most signs point to variants weakening over time.

I'd like to see more legend surprises in the men's. I miss the legend surprises as they don't happen as often now that they fill most the extra spots with NXT wrestlers.

Yeah, we're not going back to a Thunderdome or Daily's Place situation unless Omicron becomes a lot more dangerous. At most, we'll see mask or proof of vaccine requirements or reduced capacity shows. Maybe some postponed dates if a big swath of a particular show's roster gets sick.

I do think we'll have to give companies some slack if matches get postponed or moved around. Booking will be harder if cases start spreading. After the past two years, I'm just thankful for wrestling being on live with fans every week. If that means things are a little weird for the next few months with the cards, that's perfectly fine.

Yeah, as much as I have been critical on people in WWE disappearing without much word and I’d like for them to be honest about it involving COVID (even if it’s a general statement about it), if people have to leave to isolate, I can’t complain. Every type of entertainment has had to do it during this period and WWE, and pro wrestling in general, shouldn’t be any different.

I do think WWE taking such a hardline, "Do not talk about it," stance on COVID is really f***ing scummy. No, people shouldn't be required to divulge if they've had it, but if they do want to share that information it should be none of WWE's business.

WWE's entire handling of the COVID process was an abysmal failure, going back to HHH's "Magic Fluid" at the PC line like two days before the huge outbreak of COVID would ravage it. Doesn't shock me they're still trying to ignore it outside of rare cases like McIntyre.

I'm sure there haven't been that many COVID cases this year guys. On an unrelated note, I hope we one day get to see footage from AJ/Omos' two week championship celebration in Nigeria.

I think revealing who has COVID and who doesn't to the general public should be up to individual talents. If the company wants to give a general "so and so is in health and safety protocol" because of contact tracing, fair enough. But outright positive tests or illness should only be revealed by the company to those who were exposed.
Though WWE's approach of a practical gag order is damn stupid.

This Toronto show could be trouble. Besides determining who will and won't get a seat at the show. I really think they should pull out of that show. If someone has to quarentine, there goes the WWE day 1 show.

I feel also the approach of doing like other leagues and going “(insert number of talent here) members of our roster are following our COVID restrictions and going into isolation and as a result, the show we have scheduled will be reshuffled to accommodate” because, like, your audience should at least know that it’s the reason rather than be vague about it. Like you said, how they hid it was worse because it made them think their audience have no awareness of anything which is made weirder when a lot of people globally were stuck in their houses (or in my case, my parents’ place) for months so yeah, we’re fully aware of what might happen to stuff we were used to doing week in and week out.

It's always possible the talent arent keen to reveal it due to what that might mean reaction wise from some areas.
If I was sick, the last thing I would want to read is a bunch of tweets telling me how selfish/dumb/gullible/attention seeking/faking or whatever other crazy shit people on Twitter might say if I revealed I was sick.
Better to just keep quiet and avoid it all together.

I hope WWE is able to get a lid on this before the Royal Rumble. Of all the PPVs to have on the horizon when Covid cases are going back up again, the Rumble is the worst one just because of how many different wrestlers are going to be interacting with each other. WWE could easily find itself with an even worse breakout after the show has finished.
Plus, if enough people are testing positive or need to isolate, are WWE even going to be able to find 30 men or women? There might be a lot of very green NXT talent making their Rumble debuts.

This holiday season really illustrated the new world we're in with this strain, at least in the US. We're still not likely to see capacity restrictions of any sort. The problem isn't going to be the ability to host shows. It's going to be able to put enough quality wrestlers in the ring to keep the show going at a certain level. Flights weren't being cancelled this weekend because of passengers getting COVID. It was the flight crew. So it's much more of a labor issue now than a legal issue in terms of actually holding a show. And this variant seems transmissible enough that it can really get to anyone regardless of the precautions you take. Contact tracing and masks still matter but it's all very marginal. Wrestlers will get it no matter what they do backstage or however many wrestlers they interact with in the ring. These guys are going through airports and restaurants and stores all across the country every week. It's inevitable in some ways that a lot of them will catch it. We can only hope that they're mind cases and there aren't too many super spreader events.

I just think every Sports org has just been I’ll Equipped to handle this.
