Jesus, both high as f and looks like they drugged the dog. Not that I'm surprised, just fascinating what "family TV" used to be! (And not that I don't like being high as f but I also love animals) Well... The absolute state of them both though. You wouldn't think that they were both only in their twenties here, would you?
Yeah was thinking after there's probably confirmed stories of them doing that kind of thing, I know there are "stories" but never really looked up details because, I don't really want to know.

During his initial push as The Blue Chipper, Rocky Maivia was met with hostile indifference from the audience. Many wanted him to buzz off(to put it nicely) and Mick Foley even suggested he get pink slipped. When he returned from injury, he eventually became one of the biggest stars the company ever produced and is now a Hollywood sensation.
I always say, he has become bigger than wrestling itself. I wouldn't doubt Mean Gene knew exactly what the Bulldogs were going to do to Matilda that night. It's a shame someone couldn't clean their clocks in defense of Matilda. It's also crazy and sadly ironic that Chris Benoit adopted his style as a wrestler, after Dynamite Kid. If Dynamite hadn't been paralyzed and had to rely on family, who knows what he would have been capable of?

I know it was a toxic drugged-out environment, but somebody there must've had a conscience. If that was me, I would've gladly busted him open the hardway AND called the police. Also, while Chris Benoit is a piece of shit for doing what he did and copy his style off another piece of shit, Dynamite Kid. Dynamite had no room to talk in regards to Benoit once he died. When he heard about his death, he said he was glad that he was dead. I don't mind anybody demonizing The Rabid Wolverine, but he idolized him. So basically what Benoit did was sacrifice his life, his family, and legacy all for some asshole to shit on his grave. If Benoit was influenced by some other wrestler, or even better, chose another career path, I doubt any of this would've happened.

It's too bad it went so far until Jacques was the one who took action and that wasn't even about Matilda. Nikolai would give her water and Jake at least once fed her, over fed her actually, hot dogs. The Jake/Davey story is an interesting one that led all the way up to a few years back with Harry Smith wanting to get revenge on Jake talking badly about Davey in shoots. Davey sure enough did deserve being spoken badly about, even if he's no longer around, and it's just really too bad his son got away with what he did to Jake. But the wrestling "business" is unlike any other, rarely repercussions for people's evil actions. I also think there was some sort of pre-destination with Benoit being influenced by such an evil guy like Dynamite. Oddly enough on kayfabe memories some guy posted all about his hate for Dynamite, while citing himself as some sort of journalist (not a very good one it looks like) and he went on to speak of Dynamite killing his wife and child. When someone said it was Benoit and not Dynamite all he could really say was that he had always heard it was Dynamite and he never followed Benoit enough to know anything about him. Nuts. But the thing is, it's almost like both guys could be interchangeable in their actions.

Darn that Alanis Morissette for confusing an entire generation about the difference between irony and coincidence.
Anyway, WWE marketing themselves as the company of youth and mocking their competition for having guys in their late 30's and early 40's in the main event picture becomes the company whose biggest stars and world champions are in their late 40's and early 50's.

Shawn Michaels implying that Bret Hart was having sex with Sunny during the infamous “Sunny Days” promo, when Shawn himself was actually the one having sex with Sunny.

I don't know if WWE still has it, but the Be A Star campaign annoys the hell out of me to no end.
First off, it's a WRESTLING(despite McMahon trying to disassociate himself from that word) promotion, an industry based on VIOLENCE. Okay, you can say that's not really them, they only play characters on TV, fair enough, but then that's also undermining the whole show when you promote it, thus disregarding suspension of belief.
And let's not even get into all the crap Vince McMahon has pulled off over the years as well as the locker room environment. I don't know if hazing is as bad as it was in the 80s and 90s, but i'm sure it's still a thing in the industry. I'm pretty sure what I just typed isn't even scratching the surface of how contradictory this whole anti-bullying campaign is, but considering who's doing it on it's very surface is enough to realize it's hypocritical nature.
Them partnering with GLAAD also seems unsettling given the toxic masculinity nature of the business and the fact that beginning with Gorgeous George, fans have been told to despite male wrestlers who act feminine.

Less than an hour after CM Punk said that funny line to Kevin Nash about "that clicking noise is the sound of people changing the channel every time you're on TV" (August 29 2011 Raw), Punk himself had a match which did horrific numbers and had people changing the channel, around a -700,000 swing compared to expectations.
WON:
Despite Punk mocking Nash's drawing ability, whenever Punk was in a segment with Nash it would actually draw well. But when Punk was in segments with other people during that time he was drawing terribly.

Meltzer was taking digs at his drawing ability on an almost weekly basis in 2011/12. He was usually okay if he was with a Cena/HHH/Vince but if he was the biggest name in a segment and expected to carry it it rarely worked. All taken from WO newsletters: After he turned heel and started working with Cena again his numbers finally improved.

I guess the Jake/Davey Boy heat stems from him or both him and Dynamite flicking lit cigarettes at Damien so it would piss the snake off and make him lash out at Jake and nearly strangle him when he was doing a promo with the snake around him. Oddly Jake never really talked bad about Dynamite despite him being an even bigger POS then Davey Boy. I think it was because he said that Davey Boy would instigate and Dynmaite was "the hammer" who would step in. I don't buy that as by the stories it seems like they were both major ass holes. As far as Jake feeding Matilda hot dogs that wasn't him being kind it was just a retaliation rib so the dog would get an upset stomach and start crapping all over the Bulldogs hotel room. So basically these poor animals were just basically pawns in some sick prank game these jerk asses were playing against each other.

Not discounting Davey Boy as a POS, because as a grown man, he should no better, but wasn't he more of a tag-a-long who copied whoever he was hanging out with at the time? I think I read that somewhere.

To continue with the thread, The Truth Commission was suppose to be a take off on Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a court-like restorative justice, body assembled in South Africa had only one South African - The Commandant. He was eventually replaced by The Jackyl because they needed someone to get physically involved in matches, when ironically enough, rarely had while in the WWF.
Gangrel, who was the leader of The Brood, was let go after two years enjoying little success(he never he held a single title during his time there), while his underlings - Edge and Christian went on to have long notable careers winning multiple championships, up to and including the top ones.

I think I read that somewhere. Davey Boy was definitely a big tag along. In comparison when he was with much more light hearted prankster Owen Hart in the 90's he was more just a harmless goof ball. They would do a lot of ribs but more harmless silly stuff like prank calls or going into the production truck and playing the wrong entrance songs. Going by what I've heard of him I don't think he was really the sharpest tool in the shed which I think would have a lot to do with him being a tag along and being easily influenced by others. I remember there was a story about him in Bret's book that I think sums him up pretty well. When he was really young and had just started in Stampede and had just started dating Diana Hart they were doing some sort of Charity Baseball game with a lot of the wrestlers participating. Davey Boy struck out badly in his first three at bats. Bruce Hart in a sarcastic attempt to cheer him up told Davey that it must be the bat. Davey Boy not wanting to strike out in front of Diana again started looking at all the bats before picking a different one. Next time up he hit a home run. While running around the bases he shouted to Bruce "You were right Bruce it was the bat! It was the fooking bat!".

The Boogeyman- originally was to be a scary heel character Becomes a funny face character Jim Cornette, champion of "f*** sports entertainment, wrasslin' is serious business" diatribes, killed his career by being outraged that his trainees were not treating the Boogeyman gimmick with sufficient respect.

Dustin Rhodes went from a no-nonsense Texan in WCW to a Hollywood pretty boy in WWF. Steve Austin went from a Hollywood pretty boy in WCW to a no-nonsense Texan in WWF. At the height of the Monday Night Wars, the New York promotion was built around a beer-swilling Texan, while the old down South promotion was all about a guy named Goldberg.
