Less than an hour after CM Punk said that funny line to Kevin Nash about "that clicking noise is the sound of people changing the channel every time you're on TV" (August 29 2011 Raw), Punk himself had a match which did horrific numbers and had people changing the channel, around a -700,000 swing compared to expectations. WON: Despite Punk mocking Nash's drawing ability, whenever Punk was in a segment with Nash it would actually draw well. But when Punk was in segments with other people during that time he was drawing terribly. Not irony, but during the post-Pipe Bomb mania on here when people were obsessively looking at quarterly ratings breakdowns every week desperate for proof that Punk and/or Bryan were creating a new boom period, I remember one like three week stretch where Santino Marella vs Heath Slater matches were consistently one of the highest-rated segments.

It's called World Wrestling Entertainment, but it almost never entertains me.

Davey Boy was definitely a big tag along. In comparison when he was with much more light hearted prankster Owen Hart in the 90's he was more just a harmless goof ball. They would do a lot of ribs but more harmless silly stuff like prank calls or going into the production truck and playing the wrong entrance songs. Going by what I've heard of him I don't think he was really the sharpest tool in the shed which I think would have a lot to do with him being a tag along and being easily influenced by others. I remember there was a story about him in Bret's book that I think sums him up pretty well. When he was really young and had just started in Stampede and had just started dating Diana Hart they were doing some sort of Charity Baseball game with a lot of the wrestlers participating. Davey Boy struck out badly in his first three at bats. Bruce Hart in a sarcastic attempt to cheer him up told Davey that it must be the bat. Davey Boy not wanting to strike out in front of Diana again started looking at all the bats before picking a different one. Next time up he hit a home run. While running around the bases he shouted to Bruce "You were right Bruce it was the bat! It was the fooking bat!". He must have got the Wonderbat. I know your referring more to the Simpsons episode that was a parody of the Natural but your post now makes me wish that they remade The Natural with British Bulldog as Roy Hobbs. Him hitting a home run and smashing a light tower and running around the bases yelling "It's the bat! It's the fooking bat!" while this song played would be hilarious.

The Boogeyman- originally was to be a scary heel character Becomes a funny face character Jim Cornette, champion of "f*** sports entertainment, wrasslin' is serious business" diatribes, killed his career by being outraged that his trainees were not treating the Boogeyman gimmick with sufficient respect. And the guy he slapped goes on to become the most successful comedy wrestler ever.

If you ever see Boogeyman in person or just check his facebook, you can see he uses the character to connect with fans in a kind and positive way. He treats everyone kindly but especially loves the kids. I'm glad he took the character in a direction that allows him to do such great things.

Is it ironic that smarks dont think they are marks or is it just coincidence? About as ironic as someone using the term smark and thinking it somehow doesn’t also apply to them.

Despite Honky Tonk Man playing an Elvis Impersonator, he fully admitted in shoot interviews he dosen't know how to play the guitar.
Chief Jay Strongbow was really Italian.
Even though Nikolai Volkoff was playing a Russian communist sympathizer, he was actually from Yugoslavia and emigrated to the U.S. to escape communism.
Another irony with the Nikolai Volkoff character was despite teaming with The Iron Sheik to denounce America, Russia and Iran hated each other. He later teamed with Boris Zhukov, who was American(born in Virginia).
Despite the inferno match being Kane's speciality, the Big Red Monster only won once(against MVP) out of the four times he was in one. Five, if you wanna count against Bray Wyatt at Summerslam 2013(it was billed as a "ring of fire" match, the difference being it was decided by pinfall or submission, not setting your opponent on fire).

A song called Ironic that does not talk about actual irony is in and of itself... ironic.

Despite coming off as meatheads at various times(at least in kayfabe), The Steiner Brothers come from a highly prestigious university - the University of Michigan.

Simon Gotch seriously buries Enzo Amore, especially at 9:28... What's the irony here? Because even though he calls himself "the realist guy in the room" he's pretending to be something he's not.

Even though he was billed as the leader of the Triangle of Terror stable, Sgt. Slaughter was the lowest ranking member. Behind General Adnan, and Colonel Mustafa.
