So given this I'm assuming we are just going to head straight to a Charlotte/Sasha feud again but also given that I really hope the writers don't write into a promo that Charlotte has to say she sent her outta the company. A shot is a shot but nah that's lame and we need to move on from stuff like that. Was Toni Storm her name coming into the company or does WWE have the rights for it? She literally wrestled last night so this must have been done super super quick. That's quicker than about every other release I can remember. Looks like it’s a situation similar to Adam Cole: she let WWE trademark it but can use it now that she’s no longer there. Word Mark TONI STORM Goods and Services IC 041. US 100 101 107. Might as well just scrap the Women's Royal Rumble Match cause the match at this point is going to have nobody

So after all the cuts and whatnot, it really does seem like WWE should be considering consolidating their women's division.
I know the argument against that would be "the Horsewomen would just dominate the show even more!", but honestly, is it really like anyone else is getting over in this format, either? They've cut so many and they basically have these nothing feuds that don't indicate that they have any plans for anyone new (with Bianca potentially being the one exception).

I think if they did it, the move would be to just finally get the horsewomen four way out of the way at Mania if Bayley’s healthy.

I mean unlike a few years ago, I just don't think they have the depth to sustain a brand split at all right now. I get why it's there but both rosters are just thin in a lot of places.

Pretty much what I predicted as soon as the news broke. Glad to see Meltz confirming it. She got other things on her mind. This was the right step for her to get that mental right.

Feels like the entire Women's division is going to end up being the Horsewomen, Asuka, Nattie and Carmella very soon It's gonna boil down to Becky, Charolette, Rhea and Ziggler in drag

And like I said, look at Impact. They gave a brand new title to one of their most decorated talents and at least opens the door to a wide range of competitors to face, before you even get to the women’s division. And that’s before you get into AEW, NWA, GCW, even the returning ROH if Rok-C signs with WWE will want a void filled.

OK, just saw the update a few posts up that she quit. Gotta wonder how much the Charlotte feud demoralized her, then. And no, not just pie-gate, but the half-assed, lackluster nature of the whole thing, which basically boiled down to "I want a title shot!" "Who are you?" "Give me a title shot!" "Do you even work here?" "Seriously, I want a title shot" "*sigh* OK, fine" *Charlotte wins lol*
Or maybe she just decided there were better options for her. Regardless, this is a loss for WWE, even if they don't feel the same way.

I mean unlike a few years ago, I just don't think they have the depth to sustain a brand split at all right now. I get why it's there but both rosters are just thin in a lot of places. Yeah, the problem with where they are right now is that they clearly have enormous gaps between the "tiers" their various women are booked on (e.g. Horesewomen on top, only a couple of women like Asuka and Bianca the next step down, then a huge gulf down to nearly everyone else), and you can't sustain that when you've only got like 8 women on each show to make an entire division around. It leads to stuff like Becky vs. Liv where Liv is made to just look totally outclassed but you need to put her in a title feud because you can't just keep booking Becky against the one or two only other top names you might have in that division without it getting old very quickly. If they're going to continue with the way they have it now then they must start booking divisions that are much more balanced, where it genuinely feels like any of the women have a legitimate chance of being champion. Otherwise, if you want to have main event, midcard, and lower card women then you need to consolidate just so you can have enough bodies to make a big enough roster.

There's many promotions out there that'll love to have her, that she'll get better exposure and most importantly other promotions that she'll be happier with. Given WWE let her go that quick they didn't mind it much. So it's best for all parties involved. They're all happy with it it seems. Honestly, Toni wrestling last night and immediately being released that quickly, that quick decision and quick release, is what we'd all expect all talent go through when asking for releases. If you wanna be released then hey, that's how you do it. No bullshitting on either side. She said she wanted to be let go and less than 24hrs later she's good. That's amazing.

Also I think that Toni on the main roster was another victim of WWE's mindset that a story line can work for anybody.
During the last round of releases Lance Storm made a comment about how towards the end of his time on the active roster he noticed rather than coming up with new ideas creative would rather try the same idea with a new call up until it works.
They don't realize that not everybody can do the same thing to the same result

I can't even be surprised at this point at someone leaving WWE. Least this time it was the choice of a talent and not a "budget cut." So since she was released, does that mean she still has a no-compete or is that thrown out with them granting the release? I'm always so confused by contract stuff so I'm never sure the ruling lol.
