1 - Death's Door 2 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan ------------ 3 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
No huge departures to how the game plays compared to the first game, just minor improvements in controls and whatnot. The second game's setting is the town of Little Hope. It gives off a bit of a Silent Hill vibe as it's less jump-scarey than the first (although there are some) and more atmosphere based horror. I think I preferred this story more than Man of Medan, but the ending could do with more build up.
I know this style of game isn't for everybody, but I'm enjoying the series. Onto the third (unless I replay this one with the advantage of knowing things so I get a different ending).

Decided to jump in on this thread this year.
1. Assassins Creed Black Flag: Played it when it first came out years ago and easily thought it was the best AC game. $10 over the Holidays on on the PS4 and it still holds up 100%.
Undecided if I'll do Fire Emblem Three Houses (I've beaten the Crimson Flower and Azure Moon routes, next would be Verdant Wind) or download Paper Mario and the Origami King (never played any Paper Mario, but I think I would like it.)

1. Fallout New Vegas. For DLCs, Lonesome Road was done first a month ago, then Dead Money, followed by Honest Hearts and finishing the DLCs off with Old World Blues. After the last DLC there were a few available missions left to do, but a lot of time was spent just loitering around gathering caps and junk to fill the Old World Blues safe. Wild Card ending.
Before playing, thanks to free nights reading through tvtropes, I ended up knowing some stuff about the game so it really wasn't a blind playthrough. All the same, had enjoyed the game. Maybe after some time I'll play the game again. Maybe try some of the mods.
Just started doing a replay of FFX, followed by X-2. Still got Darkest Dungeon waiting for me. Already at the late game for that one.

I knew I had been lurking on the forum for a long time but wasn't expecting my last post to be in 2008.
1. Ghost of Tsushima director cut. Never played the PS4 edition but what a game, cracking story and the fighting and scenery are just mesmerizing. Beautiful game.

1 - Death's Door 2 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan 3 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope ------------- 4 - Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
This one felt more 'action with a horror twist', kind of in the style of Aliens. It's even more like Aliens since the plot involves a bunch of military people trapped somewhere with things hunting them.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the last one. It wasn't because of the story or the characters or anything like that. it was that the balance between watching stuff and actually doing stuff felt way off. You accept with this style of game that there's going to be a fair amount where you're essentially just watching a movie, but at times it felt like I had control for a few seconds in between several minutes long bits of doing nothing. There were plenty of parts where I was sat thinking, "why am I watching them walking through this bit instead of controlling them?".
Now to have a look through my backlog and see what's next.

13. Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Black Eagles route
First time playing through the game in a couple of years, and my second time doing that specific route (first time being the first time I played through the game). Was a lot of fun to get back to and to kind of see how much the New Game Plus perks, the added DLC characters, and just better familiarity with the game changed how my playthrough went compared to the first time. I imagine there's going to be a decent break before I do the other routes again, might maybe do one or two of them later on in the year, if only since even on that route (which is handily the shortest one) the game still kind of grows a bit long in the tooth by the end and kind of makes you want to just sort of speed through the side activities and jump to the end. Spent most of the last couple chapters kind of just prepping stuff for whenever my next New Game Plus playthrough will be rather than really focusing on the current game.
I do kind of want to do another Fire Emblem playthrough soon, but if I do it'll probably be one of the Fates routes or Echoes, maaaybe one of the older ones. Definitely want to do more Three Houses but for the moment kind of tapped on it and I've done every route (including Cindered Shadows) before anyway.

2. Completed final fantasy VII remake.
Although I'm old enough to have played the original when it came out, I never got around to complete it so everything was new to me and I really enjoyed it. Sure, it started off slow but it really found its feet after a few chapters imo (I'm not an FF guy so they all might start like this).

1. Assassins Creed Black Flag
---------------------------------
2. Pokémon Shining Pearl. Downloaded Paper Mario & The Origami King to discover an infuriating combat system. Was neat at first to have a mix of puzzle and fighting I got sick of it pretty quick. Just after the second boss fight when I remembered I still had a my Shining Pearl Nuzloke to complete, and would much rather do that. Especially with the news that Legends Arceus being a smash hit. Final team was Torterra, Luxray, Clefable, Mismagius, Rapidash, and Altaria who sadly was my only death challenging the Elite 4 and Champon, being slain by Cynthia's Garchomp. Biggest death overall was my Whiscash who was going to be my the 6th member of my team but a rouge crit while training for the 8th gym ended their life.
I still do want to finish Paper Mario, but with Legends out that is most likely where I go next, but who knows

14. Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Hadn't been interested from the previews but I decided to take a gamble on it. Think it's pretty deeply flawed but still very enjoyable, glad I picked it up even if I definitely think there is a lot of room for improvement, especially with the often incredibly cheap combat system and the very meh boss fights. Note I'm only referring to the main story in saying I've beaten it because one of the flaws I mentioned is that this game is incredibly goddamn grindy to actually 100%, like ludicrously so, but probably going to take my time on that assuming I ever actually do. Only got like a sixth of the way through the Pokedex within my playthrough despite catching substantially more Pokemon than that.
Either way, I could probably go into detail weighing pros and cons on it but on the whole I'd certainly recommend giving it a look though I'd have to imagine it isn't for everyone and I would be rather annoyed if the series were more like this going forward. Some mechanics that absolutely should make the jump to the main games though, especially the catching mechanics, being able to shuffle moves in and out, and the smooth transitions in and out of battle.

15. Red Dead Redemption
Kept meaning to replay it for a long time and finally got around to going in heavy on it the past few days. Been a long time since I've done a complete playthrough but still love the game, even if some aspects of it do certainly show their age and the story has its down points. Made a thread about it so not a lot reason to really talk in detail about it.
Kind of wanting to do another Rockstar game after it but dunno if I want to do RDR2, Undead Nightmare, Lost & Damned, or Bully. Though probably do something else before any of those anyway.

1. Assassins Creed Black Flag 2. Pokémon Shining Pearl
--------------------------------- Crusader Kings 3. I love Paradox games like CK 2/3 & Europa Universalis 4. Not really games you “beat” but more have goals you meet or get bored. I did a fun run in Sicily becoming king of Sicily and North Africa (first time the terrible Crusade function worked in my favor). First batch of real DLC just dropped so that run is done and will see where the new content will take me.

3: medieval PS4 remake
Awesome game and beautifully done, it really does the PS1 game justice. The wee bonus at the end for getting the souls makes it all worth while.

2. Streets of Rage 4
I felt like going through story mode again, mainly for trophies. I also feel the need to do that instead of playing it just to do survival mode, which is addictive.

1. Dark Pictures House of Ashes (PS5, physical)
A really good one of these, let down by its instability. Originally tried playing it on the XB1, but the graphical glitches were unbearable. Now I've upgraded, got the PS5 version. It's still glitchy but the glitches correct much faster thanks to the faster storage. I'd say the game is almost unplayable on mechanical hard drives due to how slow the texture pop-in is. Story and scares really, really good once you get past the jankiness and hopefully patches will polish it up.
2. Lost Judgment (PS4, physical)
Have been playing this since October. Was 30 hours in when I got the PS5 so didn't upgrade to the PS5 version so as not to lose progress. Did play the PS4 version on PS5 though for the faster loading times. Also played it with the Japanese audio as I prefer it. Main story wise, it's the weaker of the two Judgments and gets downright nonsensical at the end, but side content wise, oh boy, blows Judgment out of the water. There are so many great school stories and the side games linked to these stories are so clean and polished. Tried the Amon fight but failed spectacularly. Finished it with 86 hours gameplay. Would absolutely recommend.

been a productive couple of weeks here >_> Spider-man Uncharted 4 Uncharted Lost Legacy.
Uncharted 4 really felt like a contractually obligated game... and the ending especially felt like a screw you Sony we're done with this.
Lost Legacy did make fun of a few of the timeline weirdness introduced in Uncharted 4 (like Chloe mentioning Sam appearing from literally nowhere all of a sudden) and while REALLY short...I probably enjoyed more... especially since they seemed to finally realize that the gun play is like... the worst aspect of the Uncharted Series... and stuck mostly to puzzles.

Finished the Mass Effect Legendary Edition Trilogy (Femshep mostly Paragon (can’t ignore that renegade prompt during the final fight with Leng)) .. such a trip… after all these years., still such a solid trilogy of games, story wise… for the most part. Will do a Renegade run as male shep, but first there are some other games I want to play.
And I see Mass Effect: Andromeda is on Game Pass. And I hear it’s some what decent now the bugs have been ironed out, so I might play that too.

5: Pokémon Legends: Arceus
LOVED IT
Okay, maybe just a *little* much. I LOVE the potential of the direction this game can take the series. It wasn’t perfect, there’s some rough edges. But this was such a fun departure from the Pokémon game I’ve known since the 90s. It’s been nearly 30 years of gym badges to the elite four, it was time for an evolution. I think this version of the game can be taken to greater heights, and for the first time in a while I’m absolutely pumped for what’s next in the PokeVerse.
Also, DLC maybe? Give a trainer battle arena. Maybe experiment with a co-op segment where you’re both on the map.
4/5

But I liked Andromeda for what it was. The interactions between Ryder and the crew also feel a lot more developed than they do in the Shepard trilogy outside of ME3 (especially the Citadel DLC).
It's better to think of it less as "Mass Effect 4" and more "Mass Effect: The Next Generation."
