1 - Death's Door 2 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan 3 - Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope 4 - Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes 5 - Days Gone -------------------------------------------------- 6 - Batman - The Telltale Series
Your usual Telltale gameplay going on here. I did like the story, it was also more violent than I was expecting. There were a few graphical oddities like cigarette smoke being rendered as a solid block and camera focus not changing properly leading to some scenes where everybody ended up blurry. I've already made a start on the sequel.

7. Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro (PS1, physical, played on the PS2 Bravia)
Another great Spiderman PS1 game, hampered by the limitations of its time. Hammerhead boss fight was infuriating because of the lack of a movable camera. Stopping the plane was infuriating. The Electro and Hyper-Electro boss fights were quite easy to be honest, thanks to the very generous health drops. My biggest complaint of this one is sometimes there'd be three or four levels with no save point, that's way too unforgiving. First one was stingy with only giving every two levels but at least it was consistent.

5. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare I had only started this right after completing regular RDR1. I already knew that this was DLC, and because it was included on the "Game of the Year Edition" disc, I figured I play it. It had been a long time since I did a run with it. I know that zombies haven't really gone out of fashion, but when this came out, zombies were everywhere, and I mean everywhere. With that being said, it was a fun game for what it was trying to do. This time around, I did more side-quests like try to look for certain horses and stuff. Man, I spent most of the day playing it, but it was mostly so that I could do the side stuff. But if you go through just the story, it could be knocked out in a matter of hours. Playing it now on PS3 and it's a buggy mess, don't know if I'll be able to finish it. Game-breaking glitches forcing multiple reloads (zombies headless, special zombies not spawning when they need to, zombies spawning as NPCs instead, killing zombies not affecting the town safety bar).

20. Grand Theft Auto V
I wasn't even really especially planning on playing it right now, but I ended up dropping the $10 on picking up the PS5 version and wound up doing a runthrough of it. First time in maybe a couple of years, maybe three? Not entirely sure but it's been a fair bit of time. Bit heavy on the Rockstar games of late I guess, doing this one, 3, 4, and RDR 1 and 2 in the past year or so, and I kind of want to get to Undead Nightmare, Lost & Damned, and Bully at some point, though probably overdue for a break from their stuff for awhile. Kind of the same opinion of GTA5 I've always had really, lot of fun with a lot to love about it but it does feel kind of hollow and I think it suffers for having a ton of backloaded big climactic setpieces while not really having all that much in the way of interesting stuff in the midgame. Still, great game, even if I do like 4 and RDR1 more.

More of the same as the first one (but without the graphical issues). Again, I liked the story and enjoyed the take on the characters.

8. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (PS3, physical)
Jesus, this was a broken buggy mess. Headless zombies spawning, kills not counting towards town safety, zombies spawning as headless NPCs, crashing while saving, crashing while dying. This has to be one of the worst releases QA-wise a major studio has put out, which is such a shame because underneath the jank there is a fun little game here but it's very difficult to enjoy it when the game just doesn't function (and why does no one talk about this?). Removed the patches to fix the headless glitch but the framerate then sank to such a level I felt motion-sick, so had to repatch. The game pretty much rushes you to the end once you hit Mexico as well, all of a sudden I'm doing the last level and it feels like I've suddenly skipped huge masses of content. Major letdown.

I've still only beaten one game this year, but that's just how long Elden Ring is lol. I've nearly finished Kirby though.

21. Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward
I'd been wanting to replay the Zero Escape games for awhile anyway, and then they put the Nonary Games up on Xbox which was all the motivation I needed to get around to it. I was going to play 999 first... buuuut I like VLR more so I figured I'd do it first instead despite it being the sequel since their connections are while not quite tenuous not really directly important to the broader scope of things anyway.
Still liked the game a lot on this second playthrough, even if a lot of the repeating scenes and contrivances of writing can be a bit annoying, plus there's kind of just the inherent problem of being the second entry in a trilogy that ultimately has an unsatisfying conclusion. But that's not its fault, and while I want to take a break from Zero Escape for a bit after finishing it I do kind of want to also play 999 and Zero Time Dilemma before too long. Granted I also need to finish an on-and-off replay I've been doing of AI: The Somnium Files, and the looming release of Nirvana Initiative is casting a pretty big shadow over the whole thing, so it might be a bit before I actually get to those ones.

4. Dying Light
Fun wee game but not perfect. Too much slog in the beginning with useless weapons but enjoyable non the less.

22. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
I've been kind of slooowly on and off replaying it for a long while now, and over the past day or two decided to just buckle down and finish it already. Kind of just was inclined to put it off since it's sort of a pain to play it on the 3DS but I was too far in to warrant restarting in some other form.
Still pretty of the opinion that it's the weakest mainline Ace Attorney game on replaying it, though I like it more than Investigations 1 (granted been a long time since I replayed it either) and Great Ace Attorney 1. The biggest issues with the game I think are a lack of particularly good cases, just having a lot of weak characters, and being very underwritten in a lot of respects, but I do think there are still things to enjoy about it and some aspects of it work better now than they did then due to some of the work Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice did on fleshing out aspects of it. The Trucy and Apollo twist is still dumb though.
Been kind of wanting to do an Ace Attorney deepdive for a bit, it might kick that off. Not entirely sure; I've been wanting to replay Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice for a loooong time, but it's not been as long since I played the original trilogy. If I were to do a big series run-through I'd probably prefer to do it mostly in order (though not playing Apollo again just yet, obviously, this run counts) but I don't really want to wait on going through AA1-3 before doing 5 and 6 again, plus I want to do the Investigations games and maaaaybe the Layton crossover while at it. I dunno, will have to see how it shakes out.

Standard Lego game stuff. I think I prefer ones that are based on films or the like rather than having a new story. I also miss when they had no voice acting; It's not that the voices are bad, just that having them tell a story silently had a certain charm to it.

6: Elden Ring
What a fxxxing amazing journey. Masterwork. Everything I wanted and maybe even more. Lived up to the massive levels of Skyrim level hype I had. Cannot wait for NG+ and ++ and the Platinum.
My GOTY, no contender will come close.

9. SpongeBob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated (PS4, digital, played on PS5)
Well, as I've been meaning to play it and it's free on PS Plus this month, seemed like the right time to start. Never played the original. After the broken slog that was Undead Nightmare, nice to play a fun short platformer. Didn't 100% but did most of it. The voices for Mr Krabs and Mermaidman are f***ing awful, could you really not get a better impressionist? Only really encountered glitches when trying to look for them. Final boss disappointly easy, especially after the small hell that was the Spongebob's Dream stage. Enjoyed the game thoroughly though, would recommend regardless if you played the original or not.

23. Kingdom Hearts 2
First time playing all the way through Final Mix, and subsequently first time in a long time I've really done a run of it; been meaning to for a long time but kind of just easy to put off, but wound up pretty quickly blitzing through it in the span of just a few days. I'm kind of mixed on the changes to Final Mix, a lot of nice bells and whistles were added and there's certainly a lot more side content, though I do feel like some things wound up pretty unbalanced, most of the new cutscenes are just obnoxious, and the Roxas fight is pretty actively shitty and ground my runthrough to a halt for a bit. Did do the other Organization fights other than Marluxia, but probably won't bother with the other bonus bosses or anything, I don't tend to really concern myself with that stuff in those games.
I'm kind of wondering about trying out Birth by Sleep? I've really only ever played a significant chunk of the first three games, and only actually beaten 1 and 2, but I'm in kind of a rhythm on these games now so it might be worth taking a crack at either BBS or 3. Though probably should focus on something or other else as a cooldown first, I dunno.

7: Hellpoint
A very very mediocre Soulslike. I stopped playing this one right at the end, and turns out the final boss is broken. Which is all the better because I didn’t really want to fight the clunky stiff combat and bad FPS rate in a challenging fight. Won’t be returning to this one to hunt trophies.

24. Way of the Samurai
Game I just love to death and wish there were some convenient modern ways to play. If they were to put it up on the PS4 or something I'd buy it in a heartbeat, it's a simple, very basic, rather cheap game with a poor translation but it just works.

Assassins Creed (PS3) - Stunning and vibrant recreations of the cities. However the game became repetitive and dull. 3/10
Infamous (PS3) - Enjoyable if a little clunky 6/10
Infamous 2 (PS3) - Improved in virtually every aspect on the original 8/10

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. I wish the story mode was a little less "visual novel with a fight here and there," but IIRC Guilty Gear XX and BlazBlue were the same way so that's just the way ASW did things at the time (still do? Haven't played GG Strive). Good story for a fighting game (and outright straightforward for an ASW storyline, though I guess Atlus handled things there) and I liked the original characters introduced. Really wanted to give Labrys a hug for all the shit she went through.

10. John Woo's Stranglehold (Xbox 360, physical)
Well, this was a fun mindless short shooter that I picked up for 50p from CeX. Even watched Hard Boiled on LaserDisc to prepare for it (completely unnecessary, the movie and the game are barely linked). Had to dig out the 360 as it's not supported on XB1. Some very mild bugs here and there, got stuck on normal difficulty in the museum so had to drop to casual (the coward's way out). Hitting people with Precision Aim in the nuts is way too addictive. Voice acting is pretty bad, Chow Yun-fat (Tequila) is quiet and accented and there's no subtitles either, so you have to turn the volume way up for cutscenes. I don't remember Xbox 360 looking quite so rectangular and low poly either.
