The Undertaker HIAC feud had a lot of weird hype to it, it was really out of nowhere when he showed up and the whole lockbox "You gotta face Undertaker" thing was a really out there fix to Cena being hurt (and it did sell a lot of tickets IIRC). It took until like five minutes into the actual match that I was like "Oh ok this match is for real happening huh" lol Nothing else captured that without having the big gap with Shane being gone so long, so the rest was pretty middling outside of some matches like the AJ one. Five minutes, huh? So...around the same time that both guys got winded, in that thirty minute match? Remember the part where they just sat across from each other and tried to throw garbage cans at each other? That felt like the entire middle twenty minutes.

Shane managed to go from a breath of fresh air against the perpetual misery of Stephanie and Triple H to being so much more invasive and terrible than they ever could be. And that's impressive.

The ONLY time I've ever enjoyed him was his GM run on Smackdown. Litdown was the best WWE period in the company in a long time.

Miz, as a heel, mostly wins matches or feuds by outsmarting his opponents rather than out-wrestling them. Miz, as a face, got outsmarted by heel Shane every week for like 5 months straight. I know people say Miz sucks as a face, but they gave him no chance to succeed at it with that horrible Shane feud.

I'm still shocked Shane hasn't said screw it, "I'm going to do a GCW show and face Nick Gage" or something crazy like that

Damn I loved Shane back in the atittude era, one of my favourite charachters and some great matches. Shane vs Undertaker HiaC would have been fantastic, in 2000-01. Even the Kane fued was bonkers fun.
Sadly it's been diminshing returns ever since, the whole point of his charachter has gone, he doesn't want to take down his Dad, he doesn't want to impress his Dad, doesn't want to take over. If there was something else that's fine but he's never going to win a world title, he's not got a protege. Biting off more he can handle and having to do crazy shit to make up for his lack of wrestling skills was good, what's he doing it for after the 'Taker match? A mid-life crisis?
He was OK as a co-GM with Bryan, even that was mostly saying "what's up <current city>" while sweating.

I didnt mind the idea of a face Shane returning wiser and more indepedent and basically more of a man.
But it went too far,he still shouldnt be out wrestling anyone

He was always a tough guy. Remember the interminable Shane/Kane feud from 2003? Totally killed Kane's aura. Shane trying to sound like a 90s movie action hero: "Burn in hell, you son of a bitch."

Yooooooo they really had us wondering what's in that lockbox I forgot all about this lol. Daffney😥 Shane really didn't need to have as many marquee feuds/matches. NO McMahon needed as many marquee feuds as they produced, and I don't care if it's their company.

As a teenager seeing that was hilarious lol. It was a classic horror film where the hero thought they killed the villain. Dude then popped up shortly after lol.

His match with Miz at Mania was hilarious. Shane kicking out of literally everything like he had the power of God and Inoki inside him until they fall off a platform and Shane rolls on top of Miz for the three. Can't imagine how it was decided "Shane McMahon is gonna break The Miz's will and spirit tonight" but I'm glad it was. SHANE O MAC BOMBA-YE SHANE O MAC BOMBA-YE SHANE O MAC BOMBA-YE Also someone must've ribbed/challenged Styles and told him he couldn't get a great match out of Shane.

At least when Vince/Stephanie wrestled actual wrestlers they would low blow, use weapons or any other dirty trick. It was always clear that they weren’t actually trained wrestlers and in a fair fight with one wouldn’t stand a chance. Shane though at times had the power level of a legit main event wrestler. He could go 30 minutes with Undertaker in hell in a cell and be competitive. He could beat up all of Legacy by himself. He could go toe to toe with Kane at his most dangerous after unmasking. There was that stacked Survivor Series elimination match in 2017 too, full of top guys. Shane seemed like the easy weak link in kayfabe but was actually eliminating people and made it to the very end, getting the heroic spot when he’s the last man standing on his team and valiantly fighting against the numbers game.
Does anyone remember the story after Survivor Series 2001? It took all the Team WWF guys hitting their finishes on Shane to eliminate him. He was supposed to come out the next night on Raw selling the beating and begging/crying for Vince to keep him employed only to get fired and kicked out of the building in humiliating fashion. Stephanie and Heyman went along with it but Shane got his part changed and instead he came out acting all cool, took the defeat like a man and left of his own accord. And he wasn’t selling any effects of the SS match which supposedly pissed off Undertaker and others.

The best Shane match was King of the Ring 01 against Kurt Angle because he was booked as he should have been.
A guy who was completely outclassed by Kurt and only stood a chance because Kurt had already wrestled twice that night and it was a hardcore match so Shane could use weapons and basically cheat. Even though Shane was the babyface they didn't try and tell the ludicrous story that Shane was anywhere close to Kurts level. And even with all the advantages, Kurt still absolutely kicked his ass, battered him bloody and beat him.
I think that's the last time Shane was booked like that, certainly babyface Shane anyway.

Now that he’s come back, when is CM Punk ever gonna find ol’ Shane O’Mac and try and get his Best In The World rights back? As far as I’m concerned, Punk’s reluctance to act on the matter and reclaim it is to essentially forfeit the title.

His promo where he challenged Shane for Mania was fantastic

I could go on and on with how much I dislike Shane McMahon and why, but this run in particular pissed me off almost from the get go...
Vince: (blah blah blah stupid lockbox plot that was stupid) You're gonna face...THE UNDERTAKER!
Shane: Oh okay cool.
Vince: And it's gonna be....HELL IN A CELL!!
Shane: Oh okay cool.
f*** off. Sell the match. Sell the opponent. It's the freaking UNDERTAKER inside HELL IN A GODDAM CELL!
But no Shane was just like "nah it ain't no big deal". I wanted to punch him in his sweaty thumb head.
