What's yall opinion on this? Oh you didn't know? (no Road Dogg pun) This was the era where Shane came back and suddenly he was a super tough guy. Man wasn't some spoon-fed rich kid from Greenwich anymore, oh no. He was that smooth-talking street-wise outcasted from the family man who didn't take shit from nobody. Gone are the days when he was bitched out, nah. He didn't take shit from his dad. His sister. He didn't take shit from the most ruthless heel of his era Triple H. Nah, he was tough now. He didn't even take shit from the wrestlers of this generation. Man was so tough he took on Taker and gained his respect. Somehow. Man put his foot down AJ Styles's throat. Yep. Man said "I don't care who you are f*** you" to Kevin Owens. The guy who Powerbombed MGK and said "f*** a lawsuit", he did it. He even took Strowman's onslaught multiple times and showed em who he was. Braun "get these hands" Strowman. Don't ask how he turned into this, doesn't matter. What matters is that he was this at the end of the day. So I ask you... What did you think about the Tough Shane Era? Also...did yall notice in each thumbnail Shane's on the offense? Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. So what yall think?

The only thing missing from this Era is if he brought back the European title and walked around calling himself the GOAT Euro.

Shane is terrible. Other than his initial return pop his post-hiatus run has sucked ass. Far and away the worst on-screen McMahon to me.

God awful.
So glad Brock nixed a match with Shane. Didn't wanna see him selling for those punches.
Also that hell in a cell with Taker was dreadful. And too competitive.

His 2019 heel run was the most I’ve hated him he was just completely insufferable. He has had some decent matches since coming back against Miz, Owens & Styles but his heel run made me never want him on tv again.

They completely missed the boat with not having a feud with Triple H. The McMahons are always over the shows, so may as well have the pretenders to the company throne throw down.

I've NEVER liked Shane - he was allowed to do things that got him over that dozens of guys on the roster could have done but weren't allowed to - and this is him at his absolute worst.
Terrible promo, terrible punches, looked like he was about to die every time he raised his voice.

Was he perfect? Hell no.
But gotta give him credit, up until he decided to stop putting people over *coughMizcough*, he did a fine job.
The Taker match helped that Mania feel like a Mania, and the next year he and Styles put on a really fun match.

I think you can describe that as any of Shane's eras. Dude who acts tough and can hang with all of these top legit wrestlers even though no one is buying it. They did the same thing his previous run in 2009 where he was beating up Orton with his horrible looking punches and Randy, their top heel at the time, acting afraid of him.

Now I know this thread was not created to disparage The Best (Wrestler) In The World.
That man won a tournament that definitely made sense.

The Undertaker HIAC feud had a lot of weird hype to it, it was really out of nowhere when he showed up and the whole lockbox "You gotta face Undertaker" thing was a really out there fix to Cena being hurt (and it did sell a lot of tickets IIRC). It took until like five minutes into the actual match that I was like "Oh ok this match is for real happening huh" lol
Nothing else captured that without having the big gap with Shane being gone so long, so the rest was pretty middling outside of some matches like the AJ one.

His match with Miz at Mania was hilarious. Shane kicking out of literally everything like he had the power of God and Inoki inside him until they fall off a platform and Shane rolls on top of Miz for the three. Can't imagine how it was decided "Shane McMahon is gonna break The Miz's will and spirit tonight" but I'm glad it was.

LMAO I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THE WORLD CUP The full name was The World Cup To Determine The Best In The World. And you could definitely tell how global the search for the best in the world was was when every participant was born in the United States.

He was always a tough guy. Remember the interminable Shane/Kane feud from 2003? Totally killed Kane's aura.

He was always a tough guy. Remember the interminable Shane/Kane feud from 2003? Totally killed Kane's aura. He was tough then but the presentation was a lil different. Back then they called him a crazy kid who had to be tough at the time, sorta like Gohan when he was forced to fight. Now this Shane? He was a hardened man who was always tough, smooth, always knew what to do and how to fight. He wasn't portrayed as a crazy kid who sometimes got tough anymore, he was portrayed as a hardened man who can compete with the best any time when needed.
Both sucked regardless. At least then you had him against one dude like Kane. Today's Shane almost beat Taker at WM which is nasty lol.

Five minutes, huh? So...around the same time that both guys got winded, in that thirty minute match?

Shane's run did more or less convince me he and Steph were basically two sides of the same coin. Steph will often bury people in promos, and Shane will often do so in matches.
