But didn't reach the heights you thought they would?
I remember thinking La Roux was going to be huge around the time "Bulletproof" was all over the radio. It didn't really pan out that way though.

La Roux's members have been on record as saying they didn't want to become massive so they pulled back a bit after that song became as big as it was. It's a weird stance in music as the fame and fortune motivates a lot of musicians/bands to make music, but an understandable stance when you factor in fans can be a bit crazy and paparazzi/media snooping about every tiny detail on your day 24/7.

Literally one of if not my favorite artist but absolutely true. Love all three of her albums, but, yeah. I thought Karmin would be a success. Thought Juvenile would be bigger. Kevin Rudolph is another.

"Big" is a bit much, but I thought Alien Ant Farm and Jimmy Eat World would be more than one-hit wonders. Same for Wheatus. Looking back, I think the turn of the millennium was just riddled with one-hit wonders that seemed to have more going for them.

Jimmy eat world had a few hits surely? Don't think they were a one hit wonder, where they?

I know they had one called movies, but the Smooth Criminal is pretty much everyone knows them by.

Jimmy Eat World had a few other big songs. Nothing as big as The Middle, but they were definitely not one hit wonders. "Sweetness" and "Pain" did really well.
Personally, I really liked the title track off Bleed American, too.

I absolutely adore everything off of ANThology and TruANT except for Smooth Criminal. And really I only dislike Smooth Criminal because most people never gave their original songs a shot.

I always loved "Hear You Me" off Bleed American. Wasn't a single or anything, just a track I dig.

Movies has an absurd amount of plays on my Spotify. Anyways, I thought the samples, melodeath riffs, and “so extreme they’re basically a parody of emo” lyrics of Killwhitneydead would have made them one of the most popular bands of the MySpace era, but they literally never seemed to have any popularity beyond that sphere and quit soon after.

Robbie Williams, at least stateside.
I thought Desiigner post "Panda" would be hotter because he's got amazing delivery, and has other bangers like "Price Tag" and "Diva" that are underrated.
The Hives were massive with "Walk Idiot Walk" and "Hate To Say I Told You So" and were kinda-sorta- part of the garage wave that the Strokes and White Stripes brought in. Then Franz Ferdinand arrived and everyone forgot them suddenly.

I figured Modest Mouse would have had a few other things get popular but I don't think I heard anything get radioplay other than Float On

I know it's a forum meme, and she's been trucking on, but I have kind of expected Tinashe to blow up more than she has as of yet. It's not like she's a nobody or anything, but still. Something something big get.

Thinking back to my teenage/nu-metal days, Nonpoint was always a band I thought would be massive. I saw them open for Sevendust and I was convinced they were definitely going to be the next big thing. Nothingface was another band I expected to get huge.

I was hoping that Cherri Bomb, an all female hard rock band that had a song on the Avengers soundtrack would become big. Instead they fire the lead singer, change their names to Hey Violet and become a Pop Punk band. The fired lead singer also changed her style to dance music. Talk about selling out on all accounts.
