I still have no idea who this woman is and I saw her sing at Mania. The reason it became a forum meme is because maybe, just maybe, her singing a song for WrestleMania was oversold somewhere between a little and a lot. The OP basically tried to argue her singing the national anthem would lead to a new boom period for WWE because she was such a giant star, non-fans would pour in to see the national anthem. And I know that OP is still here and posts regularly, so please, yell at me in Messages all you wish, I don't mind. The f***? I've never messaged you dude (and to insinuate I have regarding this is really uncalled for) and I said nothing in the original thread near her leading to a "new boom period." The point of that thread was because she was coming off of a very hot SXSW performance and the WWE, who this forum has (often rightfully) given shit for either booking way past their prime acts and genres had someone who was buzzed about in the moment. I stay quiet about it, I can accept that it's a forum meme, but I don't appreciate it. I don't even acknowledge it when it pops up because I get it that these things become running jokes and at some point the joke becomes on each and every one of us. What I take issue with is how your wording here is deliberately antagonistic and suggesting I'd harass someone on a messageboard forum when I have never, ever done anything of the sort. No, you haven’t. I meant in response to my post, I’m sorry that wasn’t clear.

I haven’t heard much from Macklemore lately. I figured he’d pick up a few more hits but he’s pretty much the Same Love/Thrift Shop guy now.

I still don't get why Powerman 5000 didn't become a huge band.
Whenever I have them on people dig it regardless of what type of music they usually listen to.
Not every song is a masterpiece but the singles are always good.

Jeff Jarrett. Also 3 colours red should have been bigger than they got. They were great. Of a similar vintage, Symposium. They're a band I've long imagined to be more famous than they actually were at the time because they popped up on stuff like The Chart Show and Top Of The Pops. Symposium! holy smokes, i've not thought about them in years! drink the sunshine, and fairweather friend?

I haven’t heard much from Macklemore lately. I figured he’d pick up a few more hits but he’s pretty much the Same Love/Thrift Shop guy now. I think he stalled due to some iffy material, and isn't like Eminem or Drake where he can just power through when they put out a weak album. Like, he's big, but not that big. Guessing if he can put together something decent enough, he can get more eyes on him again.

He recently came back with some new material that was popular enough to make it onto the New Year's eve shows >_>

"Big" is relative but I always expected Velvet Crush to have a string of alt-rock radio hits. They were sort of a better version of Better Than Ezra, but they never had anything more than a very small cult following. I love Velvet Crush. I don't even know remember how I discovered them, but "Teenage Symphonies to God" is a great album.

"Big" is a bit much, but I thought Alien Ant Farm and Jimmy Eat World would be more than one-hit wonders. S AAF got in a wicked Bus accident in '02 while touring. I've long suspected that they just weren't quite the same after

Then some of them went off and were in Hell Is For Heroes, who looked like they might blow up a bit when Hundred Reasons and Funeral For A Friend looked like taking British post-hardcore mainstream. Then they didn't.

I saw Hell Is For Heroes shortly before their first album came out and they were garnering a fair amount of hype and excitement, but yeah, it never seemed to quite happen for them. They had all the tools to be as big as Hundred Reasons because they were definitely on the accessible end of that whole wave of British rock bands and had a good live show.
I've now gone down a huge late nineties/early noughties Britrock rabbit hole and am drowning in nostalgia.

I figured Modest Mouse would have had a few other things get popular but I don't think I heard anything get radioplay other than Float On My local radio station likes them. They played the hell out of Lampshades on Fire a few years ago and We Are Between recently. Good stuff. For my own pick, I thought Dishwalla was going to be a bigger thing than they were. I loved every song on Pet your Friends. I also assumed Alanis Morissette would have had more long-term iconic status than she did. Every once in a while she pops up and reminds the world that she exists, but most miss it. Hanson deserves to be a big deal now that they are older. They are a damned good band. Instead, they're the MMM Bop kids forever.

There's a tragic story as to why not but back in 2008 Adele and Duffy both released their big debut albums and I swore blind she was going to be the bigger star.
