It was a fun gimmick that you could do all sorts with to get a laugh or a cringe, and fans generally seemed in to.
Do I want him regularly wrestling every week on TV? - No. Would I be interested in seeing him appears at fan events and popping up for jump scares and at Halloween Havok etc? - Yes.

Hey, if it gets him (and his finisher) into the games I'm not complaining.

I don't believe they are. But they do share a love of riding fluffy animals in empty shopping malls. Well, I mean... That's just lovely

Finally, Bobby Lashley will get revenge on The Boogeyman.

If only he comes back as the Boogie-man, wears a leisure suit and dances everywhere he goes.

Why? It’s not like he was any good 15 years ago, what could he possibly add now He's a name that will answer the phone. That's all you need now. WWE is having a crisis where people just don't care about their legends anymore. They have spent so much time making every single babyface look like a loser chump that people simply won't pay to see guys like Ownes, Styles, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to shit shitswoggle return and win the 24/7 title or the cruiserweight title again

The Hogan era Legends are too old, dead, or overused. The Attitude Legends are either retired (Auston, Foley), overused/wasted (Goldberg, Sting), or too big to return (Rock). So now they are going to have to rely on Legends from the Decline era. But how many can you find from that era given how they treated talent. Is anyone going to jump for Chris Masters or Carlito?

I may be giving too much credit here, but why do I have a feeling this is Vince capitalizing on the success of Danhausen's debut?
Like, who will be Boogeyman's Ass Boys? Ed Leslie?

It’s just a legends deal, most likely. The tweet announcing it has “this is how legends are made” as the soundtrack. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him on week-to-week television, save for maybe some 24/7 title shenanigans. I feel like at least one five second reign as WWE 24/7 is in his future, there's definitely at least one skit with him eating worms in front R-Truth happening on Raw. In a weird, awfully good way he's a WWE Legend and probably should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame one day. To be honest, I'd take the Hall of Fame so much more seriously if they started a wing of crappy gimmicks that included the likes of him, Giant Gonzales, the Gobbledy Gooker and the like.

Fire someone like Keith Lee and hire that 80yr old young blue chipper Boogeyman. Checks out. Vince: FINE, KEITHLY IS NOW THE BOOGEYMAN!!!!! I... I would watch the hell out of that. I may be giving too much credit here, but why do I have a feeling this is Vince capitalizing on the success of Danhausen's debut? I doubt that's the case, because Danhausen's whole shtick is a joke that the audience is in on. The Boogeyman took himself WAY too seriously and it only became comedic after the fact.

Honestly, I'd be amazed if Vince sees any difference in the two. I believe that Vince sees characters like Danhausen and Boogeyman to be cut from the same cloth. To Vince, all of these characters are either vampires or zombies. Like I said, I'm probably giving too much credit to the situation, but the timing of this signing is pretty coincidental.

You raise a good point. Vince is an amazing promoter and businessman (no matter what we think of him personally, his success is quantifiable and undeniable), but story/character/literary nuance is not and never has been his thing. He's the kind of guy who would think Once Upon a Time in America is just as good as The Godfather just because they're both mob movies.

Not going to lie, I would love to see The Boogeyman take on Dolph Ziggler or Baron Corbin at 'mania. Entrance, pumphandle slam then the worms.

Ye gods imagine what his knees must be like at this point. I'm assuming he's probably just going to be a character for skits and such and not wrestling much if at all.

Ye gods imagine what his knees must be like at this point. Probably no worse than Rey Mysterios. As long as he can do a pumphandle slam and all of his antics as part of skits, he'll be fine.

I mean most his last run I don't think he even had like a match... and just popped up in random segments to be weird.
