So I'm watching the December 23rd 2002 episode of RAW (it's almost a Christmas episode but not really) and suddenly we cut to this mall Santa asking kids what they want for Christmas. He's being a dickhead and then he tells a little girl that Santa isn't real. The little girl's mom is like "hey what's the deal dickhead" and suddenly Santa strips off everything above his waist to reveal HE'S SEAN O'HAIRE AND THE THING ABOUT THE TRUTH...IS THAT THE TRUTH HURTS... Bro *what* Give me more examples of wrestlers trying out new catchphrases that just did not stick at all. I love weird shit like this.

During his first few months in WWF, Big Show tried to get "And That's the last word" as a catchphrase to counter Austin's "That's the bottom line..." one.
It pretty much died on launch and wasn't used when he made his first heel to face turn in the company.

The WWE Network / Peacock version of this episode is interesting. It's the "live" edition of an episode that was taped on Saturday and aired on Monday. Test and D'Lo Brown had a match, then a quick rematch later in the night with a different finish, and the Network version has both of them even though only one aired.

Shawn tried to get “I don’t think so” over in the early months of his heel run.

Lmao which one of them didn't air? Cause the crowd was *not amused* having to see it a second time.

It pretty much died on launch and wasn't used when he made his first heel to face turn in the company. Big Show's first ever promo in the WWF where he called himself "The Big NastAYYY" Paul Wight ruined my life when I saw it. I genuinely wonder if someone nudged him to be more like Kevin Nash.

Sean O'Haire took a DNA test. Turns out, he was 100 percent that bitch.

Shawn tried to get “I don’t think so” over in the early months of his heel run. He was still saying it every now an then when he was running around with Diesel.

I remember when New Age Outlaws were first getting started, and Road Dog was using the whole "You didn't know" entrance opener. Well, Billy Gunn did it a couple times, but instead of "Your ass better call somebody!", Billy said "You better recognize!" and it was pretty cringey..
I hope I'm not the only one that remembers that. lol

They were in the early days of establishing themselves and thankfully realized Billy's little contribution wasn't working lol. Random memory: unless I'm mistaken, Road Warrior Hawk is the one that coined Billy Gunn as "Mr. Ass" around that time. It was at the DX PPV in December of '97. He addressed the NAO as "Mr. Dogg and Mr. Ass" and it was really funny at the time since he was just going by Bad Ass Billy Gunn. Billy took the moniker and made an ass fetish gimmick out of it, and it got over.

Anything they gave Benoit, he just was not someone a catchphrase worked with, always sounded forced and lame.

That period when Hogan kept saying “nWo-ites.”
Also, I remember Booker T trying to make “save the drama for your mama” a thing, but WCW still died.

Didn't he also do "Don't hate the playa, hate the game" for a short bit before WCW closed (and I think he did a call-back to it in the Mania 19 build-up)?

Even The Rock one of the greatest mic workers in the world couldn't get "Popcorn Fart" and "Watch Your Lips" successfully over.

Even The Rock one of the greatest mic workers in the world couldn't get "Popcorn Fart" and "Watch Your Lips" successfully over. John Cena’s IMO is one of the GOATs on the stick, but “CM Sucks” wasn’t happening. Part of me suspects it was a Vince idea because he looked annoyed when having to use it.
