I watched some old WCCW and was interested in who Armand Hussein was. Apparently the first thing I find when Googling this man is a story: "Top Ten wrestlers who strictly adhered to Kayfabe".
He was first. Nobody knows anything about this man.
And a legit Muslim; you can't get pictures of his graveside because there are specific laws in that particular sect.

Not even going to lie the thought of keeping kayfabe in perpetuity sounds exhausting Piper kept it up more or less until his dying day. He softened a lot before he passed, but since he started wrestling as a homeless teen, the road became his home and he took it very seriously. Check out his appearance on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. It’s on Youtube. He loses his mind when Maher says “the fans are in on the joke” and drops his pants to show the scar on his hip and says to ask Owen Hart about that.

Slam Wrestling did a pretty good article on him but still seems like no one really knew him personally. I posted on another site asking if there were wrestler's autographs that don't exist or are extremely rare. This guy may be one of them. I doubt the wrestlers really asked each other for autographs back in those days. It's been a while since I saw that Roddy/Bill Maher segment but I recall Roddy and Madusa were really embarrassing, IMO, with the kayfabe/protecting "this business" gimmick. Bobby Heenan and Sting were much more easy going. Bobby was obviously probably working because it was a means to provide for his family. Didn't he famously say, "if you aren't in this for the money, you're in it for the wrong reason" or something like that. Sting also probably had a lot going on then personally back then. But I recall Piper went too far. He just never knew when to turn the gimmick off. But then again, was it a gimmick? Part of me thinks he really did believe this was all real. A guy like Piper is not really a good guest for a guy like Maher who probably thinks wrestling is garbage and also seems like he has to be the smartest person in the room.

Bruno was absolutely exhausting in his interviews talking about how, essentially, any time he won the title or successfully defended it, it was a shoot. Any time he lost, it was a work.
My all time favorite story of this is Ron Wright and Whitey Caldwell. In real life, they started wrestling together and were close friends. In wrestling, they were bitter rivals in the southern US and drew huge money for those territories. Whitey Caldwell was killed by a drunk driver and Ron Wright had a private viewing at the funeral so as to not break kayfabe.

Yeah, in typical Bill Maher fashion he was being an ass and you can Piper basically "protected the business" to the delight of Sting on stage who couldn't stop smiling
