Possibly. I think they just want Breakker to have a setback before winning it back on WM weekend, because otherwise he's just the guy that wins literally every single time. I can see that in a sense, but I also see Vince seeing him at RAW, how good he looked, and how good he presented himself, and just being like "Yep, let's go!" Friendly reminder the initial window for NXT 2.0 wrestlers to start finding themselves to be potentially called up to the main roster was like... a 3-4 month edict. Well, that's clearly a bit of a rubbery timeframe since we're about six months into the reboot and I don't recall many NXT people if any getting fired (that weren't just contracts expiring like with O'Reilly and Gargano), nor there being that many callups (only Ridge Holland and Xia Li come to mind at a pinch).

Well so much for that whole developmental thing.
But seriously though this reeks of Vince absoloutley frothing at the f***ing mouth when he saw Bron and is getting the immediate call up.

I think the release purge is coming AFTER Mania, because they need bodies for it, but we'll see The callups, in turn, probably don't happen until then either. Just saying what was said about it initially. I personally didn't see Breakker lasting long in NXT anyway, I can see Vince fawning over him and this sudden title loss might reflect it, we'll see.

Dolph backstage tearfully thanking the only people who always had his back and believed in him, camera pans and we see he's talking to a just-opened crate containing a bunch of cobweb-covered skeletons in male cheerleader outfits.

Ryan Nemeth literally looked like he flattened his hair with grease tonight on DARK, and his hair still looks better than whatever the f*** is going on in this picture with Dolph's lmfao

By the way, 822 is the actual number of scored matches Dolph Ziggler has had according to my points ranking stats, as he wins the top belt of the developmental brand 17 years after his first match.

This is like the gym teacher winning prom king. Fun movie plot, who would he be played by? Paul Rudd? Kevin James written all over it.

Honestly I figured that Brom was going to get the callup before Mania so it's about what I expected. Don't know why we should care about Dolph winning the title though.

Well, this makes me even less likely to ever tune into NXT.
And that's not meant as a knock on Dolph. He's pretty awesome and always has been. He's just been booked into oblivion for so many years that it's impossible to take him seriously as a champ. From what I've read from you guys, WWE hasn't done a good job of rehabilitating him or making him champion material again, either.

Like hey lets just but Dolph in NXT title picture out of the blue and win. Not sure how this benefits NXT or anybody who beats him because the reasons you said.

Between all the times that Breakker has beaten the brakes off of him and the copious and plentiful outside interference tonight, I don’t think we’re meant to take Ziggler seriously as champion, but as an undeserving lucky prick that stole it from the rightful champion.

To me this is similar to how Miz won the WWE title last year Bron going to murder Roode & Ziggler

Yeah I expect releases after Wrestlemania. And depending on how Tiffany Stratton / Sarray goes next week...if Sarray loses, I think she's gone after Takeover. Otherwise I think she'll be sticking around. She's the only real name in NXT I can see being cut any time soon.
