I said the Briscoes. Weird how relevant that is this week as Fightful reported that an exec at WarnerMedia has blocked them from being used in AEW.
While I said back then that I agreed with WWE not using them, I believe the words of Ian Riccaboni and others who say that the Briscoes have grown as people. I wouldn't be opposed to them getting a chance in a major promotion.

Funny how the woman whose name was brought up first, as well as mentioned multiple times, has indeed enjoyed many years as a WWE superstar. I'm sure those who mentioned her were actually happy to be wrong.

Well... a lot of the people got signed or were almost signed by them Steen, Storm, AR Fox and Eddie Kingston from the first like 3 or so posts (King took part in a tryout decided he blew it and joined TNA... the next day WWE offered him a contract) >_> Quack was a guest trainer at the PC before all the allegations against him came out. Jimmy Jacobs was also hired and fired as a backstage dude Drake Younger - was a referee... until... yeah... my favorite part is someone calling basically everyone else unmarketable and then lists two people that I have never heard of.

In that giant thread about all of Younger’s controversy I posted an old link to the thread about him first getting signed to WWE. That thread was overwhelmingly positive. I mean there’s pissing away good will and there’s…well whatever Drake Younger did.

There's definitely some interesting notes in there. The ones that stand out are -Eddie being brought up by a bunch of people, both because WWE made an offer to him as a trainer, but also because Eddie got his head right and is now a very over guy elsewhere instead of a bridge-burning car crash who keeps crawling back to Quack -Drake Younger, because the poster was right about him in terms of matches, but he was very signed by WWE and his signing ended up being very relevant to some very unfortunate stuff in the end -The Briscoes, not for anything related to WWE, but because of the recent news that Jay's homophobic tweets have cost them ever seeing an AEW ring

I saw Eddie Kingstons name a lot. I know he didn’t get signed to wwe, but he still got signed to a major promotion on Prime time cable and Main Evented one of their 4 annual PPVs. If his contract ran out and he chose to go to wwe (which he obviously shouldn’t) he would without a doubt get signed atleast

I remember his name popping up a lot for years as a “talented but lost cause in the big leagues” type. I’m glad he really broke through in AEW and even has a good chance to hold gold there.

He went to one of their open calls thought he blew his chance and signed with TNA, only for the WWE to actually offer him a contract. I mean it worked out for him better in the end, but still.

Someone in that thread mentioned El Generico. When was he signed? Also…. Whatever happened to him?

They called him after he lost to Cody

(Also, does anyone else remember after the Briscoes blew their WWE chances, William Regal going on Twitter and outright telling Balor not to say anything about it as WWE were monitoring his tweets ahead of a signing?) Steen and Generico seemed like they'd fit WWE like a glove so I was always confused by the FAN consensus they'd never work out tbh. my favorite part is someone calling basically everyone else unmarketable and then lists two people that I have never heard of. According to cagematch, one of those guys retired in 2014, and the other one died about a year after that post. RIP wrestler I had never heard of before. Touching tribute on cagematch too: "This guy was terrible... Sad to see him die so young."

With Steen, it seems the big issue I got out of that post from others was the whole body image thing, which still seem to be a sticking point even recently when people are having issues with Keith Lee's weight and look.

It's funny how much of it is "WWE would never sign Kevin Steen".
The Drake Younger stuff is a bit collar-tugging in retrospect

I saw Jack Evans mentioned. I think in 2014-ish he and Angelico were offered WWE contracts. This would have been right before Lucha Underground.

Someone in that thread mentioned El Generico. When was he signed? Also…. Whatever happened to him? Unfortunately, he’s no longer with us. The orphanage he ran in Mexico was burned to the ground, presumably with him in it. RIP

I love that Freight Train reference in there.
Can't believe the $5 Wrestling show where he fought U-Gene will be ten years ago this summer. We should have an anniversary viewing party.

I saw the name Nikki Storm once or twice... isn't that Nikki ASH?
Also saw Drake Younger... aka. Drake Wuertz... boy that turned out fine, didn't it?
