I mean, plenty of stuff sounds like shit on paper that the performers wind up spinning into gold, or at the very least bronze.
With Hade here, it sounds like Hade didn't even get a chance to try. And this was a time when a program like that really could have been interesting. I wish it had happened.

Well that puts a bit of different spin on things then. Not a much better spin on it but different. Why would taker have a son ? Okay he has a brother but I don’t see how that would’ve worked at all. This is the company that made Jason Jordan Kurt Angle's son and Hornswaggle Vince's son. Undertaker having an English son who looks nothing like him is entirely plausible. I will give them that Jason Jordan and Kurt Angle do look somewhat similar, but still, the point stands.

That's not at all Vansen's story on it. This is from a book on British Wrestling from years back:
And it only ran for a week. I'm not saying Hunter couldn't have gotten involved but that is a completely different story.

I know we all love a good Triple H is a asshole story but he was right on the money here. That dude as Undertaker's son? Get the f*** outta here lol. That would have been terrible.

I guess I’m the only one thinking that sounds like shit and am glad Hunter prevented it? It does but as other mentioned, feels unfair to the guy to throw him under the bus like that. And Hade's career basically never recovered, especially coming at a time when British Wrestling wasn't that long before a renaissance of some kind he basically had no part of. This. The angle was bollocks, but Trips buried the worker involved who'd done nothing wrong other than be booked in a crap angle, and pretty much sabotaged his entire career. So it's become a bit of a battle of who was right, but neither of them exactly come out of it looking brilliant.

Yeah, Hunter, completely unbelievable for a smaller guy to compete with Taker. Nobody could have believable matches with Undertaker, right Trips? Definitely not your best friend, Shawn, especially. Not like Brock Lesnar, who’s a physical freak of nature, has sold his ass off for smaller guys repeatedly before and it’s been awesome either. My favorite Triple H story is when he said that it would “not be believable” for a guy like Kurt Angle to take him in a fight. And one of the old timers (It might have been Pat Patterson or Gerald Briscoe) said essentially “oh, then go try and shoot take him and see how that goes for you.” And Hunter sat down and shut up agates that. You know the Triple H/Angle feud in 2000 had such a damp squib of an ending? Because according to Kurt Angle, Triple H didn't think it was believable for his character to have Stephanie betray him for Angle.

Honestly? If this dude was really any good then he would've turned up elsewhere sometime between 2008 and now. He got an unfair shake of things, but that promo was rough and I can't imagine he would've found too much success

“He looks like he cuts my grass, man!” is such a stupid excuse not to push someone. We had a guy that used to mow our lawn when he was in high school that ended up in the NFL. Shit, Landscaper Hade Vansen would have totally been a thing in the 80s.

Even if the angle wasn’t great:
1. Triple H seemingly unilaterally killing it feels wrong.
2. Hunter burying the worker, who did nothing wrong himself, involved was just pointlessly douchey.

It wasn't and shouldn't have been his call to make, it had nothing to do with him and he buried the poor f***er in the angle. No doubt about it, Trips was a twat here.

Please note, Triple H didn't rag on the angle, or say that he thought the idea of Undertaker's son was stupid. He buried the guy's physique, which meant they weren't going to do anything with him. Trips didn't want the gimmick or storyline being tweaked, he wanted it thrown out totally. And who took Vansen's place against Undertaker at 'Mania 25? Why, none other than Hunter's bestest buddy Shawn Michaels.

If Hade Vansen was supposed to be Undertaker’s son, then was Sara supposed to be his mom?

Oh man, I'd love to see how a convo would go between the HHH of 20 years ago and Papa H over guys like Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole.

I for one am glad we got HBK vs The Undertaker at WM25, rather than whatever abomination this would've been.
It's never too late to save yourself from a bad idea, and Trips got this one bang on the money.
Sucks for Hade, but it seems like he has a reasonable perspective on it.

It wasn't the story that was the problem for Trips, it was the dude in it. He didn't say shit about the angle, just the dude (Hade) they were using and Trips took a massive shit all over the poor bastard.

Hade only had the one promo from my recollection.
I think Prinze maybe misremembering things slightly too...

Least they could have done for Hade after killing his angle and gimmick, was to at least see if he could make a Mr Arse gimmick work. "Hade Arse and the Arse Boys" sounds like a million-dollar idea to me.

I'm not saying Hunter couldn't have gotten involved but that is a completely different story. I don't know if Freddie is misremembering things or mixing up some events with others, but yeah, only one Hade Vansen promo ever aired. And it only aired one time, during Smackdown. They didn't air promos for 3 weeks. It was literally one time.
