Outside of Janela actually injuring people, I really can't think of a single upside either of them have over any of the guys whose contracts just ran out. Get what you can out of them putting people over on the web shows, and unless either of them shows a marked improvement, call it a day once their deals lapse. Nobody can argue with a straight face that talent as performers is why they're being used more than somebody like Sonny Kiss. Griff Garrison is like 23, and has drastically improved from the time he's been there to now You don't cut that guy, Pillman's up for debate, I'd argue he just needs a desperate change of direction more than anything, but Griff Garrison is someone who is quite literally on the same level as Sonny Kiss, very young, very athletic, and a great looking prospect.

I'd like to see Griff team back up with Marcus Kross and fight noted anime villains Chaos Project. Julia obviously is going to the House of Black. Pillman I actually really enjoy and I think has a mountain of potential, but goofy mulleted jock just isn't doing him any favors. I think he's about due to transition into his Loose Cannon phase. Like his father early in his career, he has athleticism, natural charisma, but a lame, undeveloped character. Let him turn heel and see what he makes of it.

They're the two nerds in a high school movie trying to belong to the cool kids by faking being on the football team. One day Pillman will be stuffed into the Gatorade barrell, and the next day he'll disguise himself as a French artist.

Send Pillman to LA Dojo, give him some time under Shibata and Rocky.

I really like Julia in-ring, so I'd have the eye-curse-thing manifest into something deeply evil with her and turn Pillman and Griff into a completely different entity heel wise. Maybe Abadon joins them as well.

Garrison seems like he's got a ton of potential, and I do think actually getting to establish himself beyond the bigger Jungle Boy label he got on BTE is low-key a big accomplishment. There are people that could have got hit with that bit and never recovered.
Pillman just isn't really good at all, and is not helped by his tendency to put his foot in his mouth on social media. Whether it's harassing the victim of Logan Stunt's sexual harassment within hours of her making the accusation at Logan or putting some very ill-informed world views on social media, I just don't like the glimpses of the real Brian Pillman Jr. I see every once in a while. It's a shame because I know the dude had a rough upbringing as was well documented on Dark Side of the Ring, but it can't be an excuse for everything either.
They need to do something with Julia already. I know it's wrestling, but Julia has been this way for months, and it's getting to the point where I can't even realistically buy a friendship/partnership lasting this long if she's like that all the time.

The answer is , y'know, something.
They seem to be stuck in purgatory, either having very short feuds where they job, no feuds at all, or this current storyline which is moving with the speed of a tectonic plate.
I actually liked this House of Black/Julia stuff, but there doesn't seem to be any progression. Would it kill them to have a storyline that goes week-to-week & has a beginning, middle & end?

There WAS progression this week, I just question what stalled it in the intermediate I think it was a combo of Pillman's real life situation, his house burning down, moving, mental burnout, and Griff also seemingly taking a hiatus for an undisclosed reason for a few weeks, that stopped it cold, and now that they're all actually back, and together, it's picked up again proper I think if they conclude it, it'll be at the PPV, but they can still progress it from here.

2 Jocks and a Cheerleader, they should have been heels from the start. It's total bizarro world with them and the House of Black: They're the jock babyfaces getting bullied and their ass handed by the goth kids. Like, what?

For what it's worth, although inconsistent, Brian has been getting better with promos now that he's beginning to add emotion to them.
What he needs is a total character change, From vanilla babyface to an outcast. He loses his tag partner and Julia and becomes unhinged riffing on his dad's loose cannon persona. His presentation would be him appearing at absolute random, throwing shit, attacking wrestlers, refs, whoever with his only motivation being chaos.

Whatever they do, I hope they donโt use the Loose Cannon gimmick. Let him be his own man instead of recycling what his dad did.

His dad barely got to use it as an actual active wrestler, though, so past a certain point he almost has to tread new ground. I don't think they want to dump Pillman because they keep spotlighting him despite his limitations, so it'd at least be good if they tried something more interesting with him.

If anyone seen the Hollywood Blondes back in WCW then Steve Austin would be as close to teaching Baby Pillman as Brian would because Steve was almost as good before he limited himself to a brawler when he became Stone Cold. I'm sure he still remembers the old style that he could show the kid if he was willing to train him. I mean it WOULD be a nice homage to his late tag partner to help the kid out.
Also I would absolutely LOVE to see Jr. achieve the success that his father was held back from achieving. Brian Pillman should have been world champion with that Loose Canon gimmick.

I don't think they want to dump Pillman because they keep spotlighting him despite his limitations, so it'd at least be good if they tried something more interesting with him. To be honest I agree. Loose Cannon was groundbreaking, but more for how it changed the game on a metatextual level rather than as an actual run in and of itself- Pillman worked the boys and Bischoff, pioneering the meta-kayfabe we'd see creep in more and more with Austin/McMahonn, coorporate favourites, "I'm the best in-ring wrestler but the office don't pick me" etc. Arguably even the nWo itself got a proof-of-concept in the early Loose Cannon material. Not to mention how it affected contractual issues. But it lasted less than 2 years, broken across 3 companies and a long injury layoff with, by Cagematch's count, barely 20 matches that weren't house-show or dark matches. How you achieve an emulation of that gimmick without a pure ripoff, in 2022, is another matter. I don't know the details on why people are saying he's an idiot IRL, so it might not work and just generate go-away heat, but in the social media age, playing off someone's alleged dickishness might be a way to generate a reaction. See Sammy & Tay, or Cody (or at least that's where I thought they were going with Cody). Maybe you play it the opposite way, that he ISN'T a loose cannon and doesn't want to follow his dad's footsteps/mistakes, and someone gets in his head about this, making it personal and causing him to ultimately snap but find the advantage in doing so. MJF would have been a good candidate for this with their back & forths, Malakai Black could possibly be a shout (although I am not a fan of his AEW work, it's just a possible gimmick option). Or alternatively Lance/Jake/Dan Lambert. Griff...I don't see a ton in. Very young, athletic, talented, but he's just bland to me. Can't say why, but even if Brian Jr is a long way off his father, he has more it factor to me.

Brian Jr. reminds me so much of Ted Dibiase Jr. that it's not even funny. Has the name but none of the charismatic energy their dad's had.
I was thinking last night a heel thing for Brian Jr. could be to be this by the rules and very mellow guy who vibes and goes with the flow, like a WwE lance storm thing. The complete opposite of what his dad was to "get out of his father's shadow".
I don't think Jr is a total bust, but yeah this Varsity Blondes gimmick is not working for him. Write him off, give him time and then rebook him under a new gimmick.
