But I thought Roman wasn’t a big star and wasn’t over. So why would him leaving be a big blow Regardless if he was over or not or a big star, WWE focuses 8 years of business all around roman. Not even saying he isnt ,currently he is pretty over, but in your hypothetical scenario, it is still obvious why. The theory I saw around is that WWE is gonna try introduce Roman to hollywood while charging a 10% Fee ,kinda like what Cena does,of his earnings.

Personally, I don't think it's a coincidence that this happened to be the weekend of a PLE.
The valid criticism I keep on hearing about is that no-one buys anybody beating Roman.
I think that this way, they can suddenly create doubt.

I don't think Roman needs WWE break into Hollywood if his contact expires.

Anyone knows what his acting is like outside of a wrestling context? If it's at least decent, I could see him in a Dave Bautista-like niche.

He would be absurd to sign a contract like that. Cena, gets money taken out because WWE trademarked his name and he said early in his career that he didn't mind it. But if they were taking 10% off his movies, he would have been sued to get out that contract. They're probably taking 2-3% if that these days. I think WWE wants to become a management company for their wrestlers especially as they age and can’t work the full-time commitment anymore. Less star in our shitty movies and more let us manage your career and use our connections in the industry(which they undoubtedly have. More Roc Nation but with wrestlers. I think this is a Nick Khan idea through & through. They were instrumental in Rock's early movie career. I feel like their trying to learn from their mistakes with Rock & Batista where they basically thought that they would fail without WWE's help. But now it's let's help these guys get movie roles as they age and they won't just ditch us and not come back to put new people over. Instead of doing the celebrity match every year, you could can have this pipeline of part-time talent that's willing to put over young stars & appear for you when they have time.

I kinda want him to show up in AEW just for how surreal it would be.

Bobby Heenan: I mean, who would ever want to go back to Trenton after being there once?

I'll eat my own beard if he ever left. He's a massive cash cow for them. On the plus side he put over a lot of people during this run, Here is a full list; . He put over Finn for the Universal title, who got injured, and I'd say he also put over Braun Strowman plenty. That WWE bungled the shit out of both of them isn't really on him. I won't count Finn since if I remember right, him losing to Finn was supposed to be punishment for failing the drug policy.

And beating Roman clean wasn't additional credibility on top of it? I mean, it was certainly nothing to sneeze at. Really one of the bigger what-ifs of the modern era, what happens if Finn doesn't get injured here.

I almost wish this was true just to see if WWE sinks or swims after putting all its marbles in its "One Guy" philosophy with this Roman super-mega push.

If Roman is in fact injured, I can see there being some concern about the leukemia returning _or_ the cancer showing up elsewhere (such as his bone marrow.)
WWE is probably shitting bricks right now because, if what I've said is true, they have to do _something_ to get the belt off Roman and/or, indeed, wind down the Bloodline angle and start building their main event scene. I don't know - have him lose his smile or something so a tournament is called.
But when someone like Roman is in a position of actual vulnerability (such as a potentially terminal illness), it is monumentally stupid not to have a Plan B/C/D in place. There are others who can take up the mantle if necessary; it makes sense to make at least a few of them credible threats to the title picture so that, if SHTF, WWE isn't scrambling to recover.

As stated in the PLE! thread he was holding his shoulder weird during the 6 man tonight and the only real spot he took was an awkward RKO... so I do wonder if he is working hurt...

If he is, he probably shouldn't be. Any injury with his medical history could be a disaster. WWE needs to come clean about this; I get that the champ's gone months without a defense, but with Roman apparently working light since Mania and now what he said last night at the house show, one has to wonder.

He's fine. He's literally been working house shows and working the main events against Drew this entire time lol. He's just selling.

WWE would miss him but you just have him do 2 jobs to put over Cody & Drew has mega faces and you're good to go with them as you bridge stars. You then start to push guys like Theory, Gable, Bron, & Melo as your next generation and see which one of those guys has what it takes to get really over. Then have Roman come back to put one of those guys over. Plus you have plenty of vets like Edge, Rollins, Sami, and Owens to work with upcoming guys.
Like I never understand the "WWE is f***ed mindset". WWE was f***ed in 2008 - 2011 when they weren't trying to build new stars whatsoever but that's not the case these days.

They have to many built in advantages to ever truly be f***ed. f***ed would be if they got their tv deals pulled and settled for 1/4 of what they get now, that's f***ed.
Roman leaving isn't f***ed, they survived losing Steve Austin and The Rock who mattered far more than anyone does today.
