Kinda muffled but yeah, I was actually surprised there wasn't a thread on this yet.
Given he's said for years that his time will be up sooner than people think, given he said he's gonna grind as hard as he can for 10 years and then dip and given the Hollywood bug stuff, I'm not gonna be surprised. He signed a new contract sometime in 2019 I'm guessing it's coming up. Makes sense to me that he'd wanna get in and get out.
Be happy Tribal Chief.
EDIT: Update from Fightful.

Nothing against Roman as a person but as a performer he's definitely in that same category as Cena for me where once he's gone I'm never going to miss him.

WWE has built this up as the unstoppable monster who has destroyed literally everyone in his path for over two years, and it's been insufferable to watch because it feels like there's no endgame in sight.
This would be the ultimate karma if he ended up dipping in say the span of the next year? You've top loaded your roster and this is the ultimate drawback to that, when the guy you put above everyone else gets hurt, or decided "You know what? I'm good!". Might be time to consider, y'know... actually leveling it out a little bit, even though they probably won't.
I got no sympathy for them, but if Roman decides his time's coming up? Good for him, dude beat cancer twice, in my book he's free and should be free to live his life however he f***ing wants. Get that Hollywood bag.

Given the leukemia bouts, I would imagine he can't take for granted that he'll have all the time in the world for his family. Beyond that, he's not exactly in a position where he's got much of anything left to prove outside of passing the baton. Once he's done that, why stick around? What's left in what, like it or not, is a hall of fame career as it is?

He's getting a haircut. Vince met the news with histrionic sobbing and threatened to demote Roman into Butch's littermate, but Roman's just tired of showers taking so long, man.
(Seriously, though, I hope it's not a health issue.)

Hopefully not health related and surely not a work as its a houseshow.
I reckon he just wants some time off to spend with his family. Cody, Seth, Edge, Sami, Drew, Lashley, Owens, Orton, Riddle, one last run for Cena, it ain't like there's a lack of candidates to carry the belts and if the end game is him fighting The Rock at WM does it really need to be for the title? (if Roman wins its same old hat, if Rock wins he has to drop it quickly due to Hollywood commitments) Roman v Rock is a main event even if a regular non title match.

I wouldn't blame Roman for not coming back after they decide someone else should be the focus...

He isn't going anywhere until they do whatever story they have planned with The Rock.
That's his big 'eyes on me' moment for Hollywood and casuals to recognise and follow him in any film career.

I’d be happy if he left or at least took some time off because Jesus h Christ is this stuff starting to get old. I love Heyman on the mic but even he can’t save this stuff.

He should be done by Mania 40. Might as well put over Theory or Breakker at that show for the title

This would be fantastic. Dude gets to get out and live hopefully healthy and happy, and selfishly for me my most disliked constant of the past decade would be gone. Win / win for everyone!

I don't think Roman is leaving where we won't see him again but I do think his full-time performer days are winding down and he's preparing for his next opportunity. 10 years as a full-time performer with 7 of those years as the guy? That's a long time for any performer. I think after the Rock match, he turns face and then puts over Bron & Theory at Wrestlemania 40.

Nick Khan said he is going to get Roman into Hollywood so that might be it.
all I can say is good luck with that.

At this point, the Rock/Roman match is a bit like Austin/Hogan - oft talked up, never happens.

I hope he does what is best for him
The wrestling side is not important like his health is and I can see him not taking his life for granted. People can say i'll be happy that he's gone but there is more to it than just the wrestling side

I recall a weird line in a promo a few months ago that was something like enjoy me while you can because I'm leaving sooner than you think.
I think next years Wrestlemania will be the end of him as a full-timer which makes sense. He'll basically be 37 which is the same age Cena stopped wrestling full-time and started focusing more on acting. He'll then be a part-timer going forward which is honestly for the best as he's booked so strong that him being around every week just stifles the rest of the roster.
It'll be a waste if the payoff to this 2 year dominant heel run is simply a Rock match and no one else gets a major rub. They can still do that AND put one or two others over quite easily. In an ideal world I'd have him drop the title to Drew at the UK show, regain the title early next year then drop it to Cody at Wrestlemania. If Rock is available then he beats him at Wrestlemania before dropping the title to Cody at one of the following PPVs then takes his break. Drew gets a historic moment, Cody gets his big win and they still get the big Rock/Roman match. Everybody wins.

Drew beats him for the Smackdown title at the UK show. Reigns can get the belt back from Drew at the Rumble and face Rock at Mania. Reigns eventually drops the title in 2023-2024 to Breaker.
