Good match, absolute masterclass finish, and the right call imo
Punk's been putting on the best work of his career, he earned this shit, and he deserves to be world champion at least one more time, and that time is now
Crazy how one year ago, Punk still hasn't even wrestled, we weren't even sure if we'd ever see him again... what a difference a year can make. Still one of the Best in the World, it's insane.

I’m just bummed we didn’t get Hangman vs Jericho with how the belt started off.

Very odd match with the crowd reaction, but it worked very well and I did like Hangman being tempted by the darkside and resisting only to end up losing because of it. Should open some interesting avenues with him... provided you don't just turn him back into a depressed drunk over it.

It was a good match but Punk is so unathletic lol. Those buckshot lariat botches were something else.

I wouldn't mind him going back tweener like he did when he was threatening to attack Kenny and Bucks Still keeps him a guy to cheer for but willing to do anything

Loved it, worts and all. Botches can be good avenues for good storytelling in the right hands and I thought the right two wrestlers were in the ring to cover them up.

...was anyone else expecting CM Punk to hit Hangman in the balls when countering that last Buckshot?

Only blemish was Punk botching the buckshot lariat twice

Only blemish was Punk botching the buckshot lariat twice I liked that commentary covered for it as Punk not perfecting the Buckshot technique yet.

I think they're doing heel Punk (HAVE EDDIE BEAT HIM), but the crowd was so 50/50 it could go either way. I don't want heel Hangman though, something feels so bleak about the hero so far finally overcoming his issues and defeating his ultimate rival only to go bad like half a year later.
Also my friend and I are children as we giggled at Paul Turner delicately pulling up CM Punk's trunks to hide his butt

The arc is basically perfect for Hangman's character development.

You guys watched a different match than I did. Punk just doesn't have it in ring anymore. He's several steps behind. The only good thing is that Hangman is no longer champ. Hopefully he goes back to the mid card.
AEW has all this talent and they just... idk man. I want to like AEW, but there's just something off.

Adam Page’s AEW World Championship reign stops at 197 days, 15 days longer than the current shortest reign for the belt (that isn’t the guy that literally just won it), the first reign in the belt’s history by Chris Jericho. This leaves the average reign length at a whopping 250.5 days (adding CM Punk’s just-started reign puts it at 200.4 days).
