How many times have former tag partners wrestled under completely different gimmicks with their pasts being completely ignored before, during and after the match?
Best and only example I can think of is Crush vs Repo Man at SS '92. Just a year and a half before this these two teamed at WM 7, yet no mention of their past together was ever mentioned and I don't think I even realized this fact until many years later.

In the same company or in general. There's been a lot of teamed in one company and face in another. But is a short list of same company two different gimmicks like this.

I swear at least once, when in WWF the Smoking Gunns broke up and it was during the "NWA invasion" storyline that the New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn) wrestled The Midnight Express (Bart Gunn). NAO win I believe

I don't know if this counts since it was basically Terry Funk bring Terry Funk just with a weird gimmick.
Terry Funk "debuted" on RAW as Chainsaw Charlie' a friend of Mankind (or was he going by Mick Foley at the time?). Anyway later on, again I don't remember if he was going by Foley or Mankind, he joined Vince & Corporation and Vince made him wrestle Funk on RAW who was just going by his regular name then, I think.
Anyway, don't know if counts since even with different & changing gimmicks it was Foley and Funk doing the same things
Weird wrestling time to keep things straight

While Rikishi was the same, Rico's gimmick was made to be ramped up, so when they faced off, Rico was very enthusiastic to get the Stinkface.

That Raw match Funk was just Terry Funk at that point and one night Foley was Foley. After "throwing" away Dude Love. After Foley won, he went back to Dude Love and Vince. But the announcers always kept saying Terry Funk while he was Chainsaw and brought up there pass. They even did that sit down interview talking about how they became friends and ext.

Stone Cold vs Brian Pillman happened on Raw once. I’d imagine JR alluded to their past but I don’t remember him out and out referencing The Hollywood Blondes.

Not partners, but I know Ryback and Darren Young had a match. Both were Nexus members.

This probably happens fairly commonly in Mexico if a luchador gets a new gimmick, particularly if their old mask and name weren't very notable.

Did Rockabilly and The Real Double J face each other before they joined forces and became The New Age Outlaws?

Did Rockabilly and The Real Double J face each other before they joined forces and became The New Age Outlaws? Yes, multiple times. In fact, they faced each other in Billy Gunn's very first match as Rockabilly.

Goldust and the Stalker faced off a couple times in 1996 in the WWF a few years removed from Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham holding WCW gold together.

In fact, they faced each other in Billy Gunn's very first match as Rockabilly. Yeah, that's likely more common than the reverse, like how Ricky Starks beat Will Hobbs in a singles match before the two ended up in Team Taz together, even before the short feud Hobbs had with the group before joining, I think.
