Yeah, they could've stretched out the Night King war a lot, considering this was an ancient threat looming over Westeros (if not the entire world) for millennia. Though the Night King getting killed by Arya was perfect and I'd 100% keep that.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but wasn't The Night King also a load bearing boss? Like, killing him destroying everything in his army was real anticlimactic. Though outside of ripping off Warcraft ("There must always be a Night King"), I guess mopping up unorganized zombies isn't that interesting.

Fans were def hoping Cersei got fried like Varys did I'm torn on that one. While I think she got off easy, there was something quite poetic about her being trapped, terrified and begging for her life to the only person who ever really loved her, and knowing they were both about to die anyway. Being executed by dragonfire is almost too noble an end for her.

The second Arya offed him, the rest of his army dropped like sacks of shit.

I think there could have been a much more satisfactory ending to the two big plot threads if some time had been devoted to it. The Night King and his army, which they spent seven seasons hyping up as a threat to all of Westeros, got wiped out by the first real organised resistance. Ultimately it felt like a huge anti-climax. How about having the defenders at Winterfell get routed and chased all the way to King's Landing, forcing Cersei's hand in having to help? Dany can still go crazy, after gradually losing all the people closest to her in the battle at Winterfell and the prolonged retreat, whereupon she finds the people fleeing with them along the way not only oppose another Targaryen ruler but openly blame her for the White Walkers' invasion. Maybe having to personally put down a reanimated Jorah or Missandei could tip her over the edge. Fans were def hoping Cersei got fried like Varys did She was to die because of Jaime killing her. He was the younger brother in the prophecy she was told.

On a related note: I've never watched a video for or about the new Lord of the Rings show. Yet YouTube constantly wants me to watch dudes apparently going off about how awful it is for various reasons. Thanks, YouTube.

I think whether you had her dying kicking and screaming or getting poisoned, crush, whatever way you can think of wouldn't have never really felt satisfying after all she has done. You would had to make her experience death over and over again like she was a JoJo Villain Ultimately, the ending and the characters fates all sort of fit in line of what you expect outside of maybe Bran or Jon Snow who probably could been killed off but makes sense to send him back to the Wall (and beyond) with his new show

Like you can say it's cause the forces of Westeros were decimated over all the fighting the war of the 5 kings and beyond but like all of her Dothraki get killed in Winterfell and the unsullied were 9k strong when she got them, so who knows how many are realistically left after dealing with the slavers, white walkers, and the siege of kings landing. Just felt like they sent him back so no one could question Tyrion wanting king Bran. And her forces just leave Westeros anyway couldn't they have been like sure Grey Worm, Snow will be banished and just not send him back beyond the wall?

It's not just the internet in this case George. It's gone from being ubiquitous to dropping out of public consciousness. How many GoT t-shirts do you see out and about these days?

It was a terrible ending, and if that is where the books are going, even with more room to breathe and flesh it out, he can keep them.

Sometimes it feels like I am the only person that watched season 1 of GoT and said "What is the fuss about?" and never bothered watching more.
I rather Martin focus more on more Wild Cards novels, than a series it seems like he is burnt out on.

This series would have been better without dragons or ice zombies.
Politics and intrigue was the best thing about it. The supernatural shit just bogs it down.

The fans would been more than happy if pace was same as prior seasons Anyone in the past decade who named their kids either Khaleesi or Daenerys would likely disagree. Those people weren't paying attention to the show they were watching Trigger warning for sexual violence {Spoiler} The first scene of the show is her brother selling her into sexual slavery, then Drogo rapes her a whole bunch She also absolutely was displaying villainous qualities well before the ending of the show, and I stopped watching after season 4 Anyway, I don't care if she was a mega face from that point on, if your kid sits down to watch that show and find out about their namesake they are going to have an Interesting Time from moment one, not just because she turns heel

As an aside note, I do find the cultures of Essos more interesting, since like almost all of Westeros has the same exact culture, with like the exception of The North and the Iron Isles.

Yeah, he will never finish the series. I’m not mad about it. But I am sad about it. I love those books. I’ve read each of them multiple times. They connect with me like no fantasy series ever has. And it pains me to think that its creator will never finish the story. I hope I’m wrong. But it’s just impossible to be optimistic about this at this point.
