I was watching Survivor Series 1988 and Gorilla Monsoon made a comment about not being alive in 1936 as a response to a joke by Jesse Ventura. I was curious so I looked it up and sure enough, he was born in 1937. That means at Survivor Series 1988 he was 51 years old.
Currently Chris Jericho is 51 years old. Is there a person in the world who would watch Survivor Series 1988 and think that Monsoon is the same age as Jericho? Even Jesse was only 37, which is the same age as Happy Corbin, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens.
What other guys and girls were deceptively young/old? I'll take the obvious one, Michael Hayes is currently 63. That means when Dok Hendrix was running around in 1997 he was only 38 years old. Roughly the same age as present day Corey Graves.

Hulk Hogan was only forty when he jumped to WCW in the nineties.
In general I think people stay younger for longer now and the age boundaries have shifted a lot in the past couple of decades, Hogan seemed so old then but forty is pretty young now. But a lot of it is that someone like Jericho continued to evolve and stay relevant, he wasn't still trying to be a fiery 25-year-old and ironically that makes him seem younger. You see it a lot with musicians too, the ones still trying to do what they did forty or fifty years ago seem older than the ones who tried to stay fresh.

Earthquake was 27 during his biggest feud against Hulk Hogan. I would've guessed he was in his late 30s.
I'm surprised to learn Virgil was 40 when he broke away(and eventually feuded with) from Ted Dibiase. I always thought he was in his late 20s(and his bios always suggested that). It also meant that he started his wrestling career late(in his mid 30s). That was back at a time when most guys careers were winding down.

In terms of Hogan feuds, Bossman was only 25 during his heel run with him.

Ivory was 37 by the time she got to the WWF. Ironically, while she did look older than most of the women, she's honestly aged very well and in returning appearances like at the Royal Rumble, she looks damn near the same as she ever did.

Yep, Colt Cabana told a story of how he assumed Gallows was some veteran who must've been a job guy in WCW or something until finding out how young Luke actually was. He was only 22 as Fake Kane, I believe.

Superstar Billy Graham at 44/45 in 1988 looked to be about 65+ Mr. Fuji with the bald head and robe looked in his 70s and he could barely move by then either. He looked better when he grew his hair out, put on some weight and worked at the movie theater. Sable in 1997 looked to be about 50 to me. She also had these veins popping out of her feet and her skin seems scaly much like your grandmother. To read she was only in her late 20s, early 30s in WWF was shocking.

When Regal was first in WCW I thought he was pushing 40 when he was only 25. He always looked older than he was during his active period, it’s only recently where I’d say he looks like his actual age.

Another comparison for Michael Hayes. He was the retired, old looking commentator.. who was only 2 years older than in his prime world champion Bret Hart.

Which is crazy given his health issues, you'd think he'd have lost it all through stress.

Paul Heyman was only 35 when ECW died and he joined WWE in 2001.
His current age (57) is probably close to what I'd have guessed he was if you asked me back then.

You don't age well in wrestling.
I don't expect people looking at Ralph Macchio in their 50s, but some look very rough. The stress and lifestyle alone can age a person and make a 30 year old look mid 40s.

Rick Rude always felt like he was around 40 to me. That's how old he was when he died. When he debuted in the WWF, he was only 28. He won the IC belt at 30.
Jake Roberts is another I have trouble wrapping my head around. He was 31 at WrestleMania III and only 36 when he left the WWF in 1992. During his return in 1996, they said (correctly) that he was 41, but Owen on commentary said that was a lie and that he was 51, and I believed Owen.

I was surprised by Lashley's age recently. I legit thought he was about 5-10 years younger, because in my (faulty) memory he debuted on Smackdown really young.
