Bruce Prichard is only 59. That to me is insane given he seems to have been around forever. If i’ve done my maths correctly he was only 27 when he started managing The Undertaker. Managers and fat guys (Earthquake, Boss Man, Akeem) seem to be the most common for guys who seemed way older then what they were. Jim Cornette, Paul E. Dangerously, and Harvey Wippleman are other examples of managers who were deceptively very young. Wippleman was only 26 when he managed Sid at Wretlemania VIII and I'm pretty sure was the youngest on screen talent they had at that point. Yup, the 4 youngest there were: Harvey: October 27, 1965 HBK: July 22, 1965 Owen: May 7, 1965 Taker: March 24, 1965

people, in wrestling especially, also just seemed to look older at a younger age in the past. Developments in just general wellness help... but a lot of the really hard life grind of wrestling being gone helps the wrestlers too. They aren't wrestling like 2 times a day and 3 on sundays... which lead to a lot of the pills and booze to get through it. (not that the travel schedule isn't still rough but it's not really comparable) Looking back I really don't know how those guys did it. Especially the guys who were there like five years plus. The constant traveling and then getting dropped on planks of wood probably on average twenty times a day. It takes a super tough person both physically and mentally to go through that. Unfortunately it also makes it no surprise when you watch a PPV from the 80's or early 90's and like half the guys on it are deceased.

Steroid use is another reason wrestlers from previous generations looked older.

I think there's also something to be said for the prevailing hairstyles of the 70s, 80s, and early to mid 90s for the most part. Hogan might be the star example of iconic-yet-unflattering hair making someone look considerably older, but scraggly mullets and bushy moustaches had that effect for plenty of guys over that time period, and not just in wrestling; you look at the majority of NASCAR drivers through around 1998 or so and suddenly it's easy to see why Kyle Petty and Jason Keller didn't look substantially out of place when they cameoed on Nitro.

Judy Martin at Royal Rumble 89 ? She was like 35 and looked at least 70. This is a great one. I watched more of the 88 Survivor Series and thought she was like Moolah's age only to find out she was 33 years old at the time, and had just turned 33 a month before.

Also, still using NASCAR as an example, but re: scraggly mullets and bushy moustaches and the difference a flattering haircut can make, I give you trading cards of Dale Jarrett in 1996 at age 40 and then Dale Jarrett in 2000 at age 44: It's almost exactly the transformation Bob Holly made, though admittedly Bobcore had considerably more mullet and less 'stache to start with.

Or in a non sports example, when Weird Al had a shave and a haircut (2 bits!) Suddenly it was like... wait he was hot under all that?

When Regal was first in WCW I thought he was pushing 40 when he was only 25. He always looked older than he was during his active period, it’s only recently where I’d say he looks like his actual age. Even today I think he looks younger than he did in the '90s to mid-'00s. Once he stopped slicking back his hair and growing it out a little he de-aged by 20 years.

I always thought Molly Holly during her prude run was older than she was. Turns out she would have been in her early to mid 20s so around the same age as the other women.
I think it was an OSW episode that pointed it out that Randy Savage during his last WWF match at Mania 10 he was 42 and deemed too old. The current WWE Champion at the time was AJ Styles who was also 42 years old.

Leilani didn't look AS old as Judy but 1985 Leilani looked maybe 5-10 years older. 1994 Leilani at Wrestlemania looked 15-20 years older.

Earthquake was 27 during his biggest feud against Hulk Hogan. I would've guessed he was in his late 30s. I'm surprised to learn Virgil was 40 when he broke away(and eventually feuded with) from Ted Dibiase. I always thought he was in his late 20s(and his bios always suggested that). It also meant that he started his wrestling career late(in his mid 30s). That was back at a time when most guys careers were winding down. In terms of Hogan feuds, Bossman was only 25 during his heel run with him. Which means he was 21-22 as Big Bubba in NWA. When I became an adult and looked back on the 80s,I was shocked by how many of the wrestlers were only in their early-mid 20s. They were practically kids themselves. A few months ago I was watching some early 80s Mid South-Mid Atlantic and seeing Cornette as a 22-23 year old learning his craft blew my mind.

Teddy Long was in his mid 60's during his last run as Smackdown general manager. He looked 10-15 years younger.
Also it's insane that The Rock was pretty much done as a full time guy at 30.
Stone Cold was 38 when he retired which is the age a lot of wrestlers these days start to hit their prime.

He was plucked from being a jobber after only a match or two because Dusty Rhodes saw money in him. He definitely did alright for himself, but when Hogan came calling, it was a pretty easy decision.

Regal's already been mentioned, but I was really surprised to find out that Fit Finlay and Dave Taylor are respectively 10 and 11 years older than Regal.

It always blows my mind that Kerry Von Erich was only 33 when he died. WCCW had been on ESPN for years and he was all over every Apter mag constantly so it made him seem older to me as a kid.
If Kerry could have cleaned himself up(not likely in 90s wrestling, with Fritz around, or just Kerry in general) he could have been a top star during the nWo/Attitude era and beyond.
