Granted, Click was pretty much a "we have to hire a guy with some respect in the league" hire for GM after Luhnow got fired and practically blacklisted for the cheating. But it's still freakin' weird.

Here's where I expect the top free agents in this off-season's class to land (ranking according to MLB.com):
1. Aaron Judge: Giants - San Francisco has already hinted that they're not going to be outspent for Judge's services, and I tend to believe them. He means more than dollars and cents to the Yankees organization and fan base, but I think the Giants are willing to go to a price and length that even New York is unwilling to meet.
2. Jacob deGrom: Rangers - The reports are out that he wants to play in Texas, and given the way they handed out money last off-season, I don't see any reason why the Rangers wouldn't meet his demands.
3. Trea Turner: Cardinals - St. Louis needs someone like Turner, who can bat lead-off or in the middle of the order and can play four different positions. A hint was that video that circulated on social media last week, narrated by noted St. Louis sports fan Jon Hamm.
4. Carlos Correa: Dodgers - This will help take the sting out of losing Turner. I think Los Angeles would like to have Correa's bat and glove, but how much would Dodgers fans accept him after all he's said in the aftermath of the 2017 World Series?
5. Xander Bogaerts: Phillies - I don't see the Red Sox being serious suitors for Bogaerts, and I think Philadelphia - and particularly GM Dave Dombrowski - would be enamored with his services and adding another bat to their potent lineup.
6. Justin Verlander: Astros - The Yankees are a dark horse contender here, but I just don't see him leaving the Astros after turning his career around in Houston and just winning a World Series ring.
7. Dansby Swanson: Mariners - I can't lie, I'm pulling this one out of thin air. But the Mariners feel like a team that is a piece or two away, and one of those pieces they're missing is a reliable middle infielder with some pop in his bat.
8. Carlos Rodon: Yankees - The Yankees will need to land a quality free agent to satiate a furious fan base after Judge walks, so Rodon will be the consolation prize.
9. Chris Bassitt: Padres - The Padres need depth pieces to get over the hump, and Bassitt should give them just that, as a solid starter behind Darvish, Musgrove, and Snell.
10. Brandon Nimmo: Mets - I just don't envision any other team paying for his services what the Mets will be willing to pay, and much like their fellow New York squad, if they lose their star (deGrom), they'll need to do something to keep fans sane.

I don’t see Yankees letting Judge walk away
They will pay the premium knowing the last 2 seasons are most likely trash

The Giants always say they’re going to make a splash and never do. They’ll end up signing David Peralta, Joc Pederson, and a bunch of AAAA level reclamation projects (while also letting Rodon walk) and call it a successful offseason. And I’m okay with it. They aren’t a horrible Judge contract away from competent with LA or SD anyways. Also being so “in” on Judge just pisses me off they couldn’t up their offer to Harper a couple seasons back. That’s the kind of guy you spend infinity money on. Not the 30+ year old huge man who’s had injury issues his entire career until his contract year.

Giants gave a $20 million qualifying offer to Joc Pederson of all people. Either they're going to just laugh off the Steve Cohen Tax or they're going to overspend to the point where all they can really afford is a few nice players and have to settle for AAAA players everywhere else. Basically the Angels of the NL.

I can't see him having some type of deal in place already

Yankees fans may want to look away. Ehhh Love Rizzo and what he has done with Yanks but 1B is a position they can replace but the LHB is something they will need

Yankees fans may want to look away. Ehhh Love Rizzo and what he has done with Yanks but 1B is a position they can replace but the LHB is something they will need Yeah first base isn't a high priority spot, so if the Yankees had to get someone else then it shouldn't be a huge issue, but Rizzo fit the Yanks and the stadium perfectly and is often named when talking about players who will benefit from the rule changes (no more extreme shifts). I still think he ends up back with the Yankees, the QO should be a good deterrent for other teams, but didn't really think of the Astros before for Rizzo. They are in such a good spot that losing a pick for him probably won't even hurt them.

Depends on whoever is charge wants to handle it tho as far as giving up picks but they have been top tier in regards to keeping the system moving with players so they have done a really good job of a mix of young and stop gap players

I don’t see Yankees letting Judge walk away They will pay the premium knowing the last 2 seasons are most likely trash That one will depend on what Judge decides, but as for the Yankees, you're right. They're not letting him walk without offering up the premium. Even if the back end of the contract is questionable, there's the optics of Judge being the guy who developed within the system, rose through the ranks, made a name for himself after being called up, and over the years, come to establish himself as a team leader. Letting him walk would be bad publicity for the team. They'd be ripped to shreds for it. Not a Yankees fan, but what irks me most is how management publicized the negotiations. I don't agree with how they handled it.
