Ugh way to kill the surprise. He’s definitely winning.

If he does win (most likely but still up in the air with potential Rock), they better call his journey "Rhodes to WrestleMania".

I'm kind of starting to suspect they're going to do a thing of him and Seth going to a draw and that being what leads to the belts being split.

If they announced him it gets me thinking Rock wins.

If they announced him it gets me thinking Rock wins. The biggest thing that gives me pause on that is that if Cody isn't winning then bringing him back to be in the Rumble is entirely pointless and basically just serves to immediately derail his return. They could easily just put some comments out that he's not ready to come back yet and wait a month on it to avoid doing that.

Yea, whatever it is going to happen seems like a set up for Mania We are either getting him and Seth or him and Roman but it all depends. I wouldn't put it past them to do a Big Show/Rock type situation for a "double winner" or Cody wins and Seth tries to steal his shot at the title

The Usos now having two challengers for the tag belts points more to Roman having the main event in each night, which is another feather in his cap. If the Bloodline break up is happening at Mania and it kinda looks like it will, two title matches between the Usos and Roman makes sense, with the Rumble being the catalyst to start breaking them apart. Depends what happens with Sami and KO though.

I like them announcing it. Now it builds anticipation for someone in the Rumble that isn’t a mystery entrant. For so long, the only exciting things in the rumble were the mystery entrants. Stretching so hard for names that they brought back Carlito like he was some conquering legend returning for one more bite at the Apple.

Hopefully, he draws an early number, lasts a long time, looks impressive, and gets screwed to set up a non-title Wrestlemania match. He can fulfil his destiny anytime. With the reactions Sami's getting at the moment, and the way the Bloodline story is going, they'd be daft to waste Sami v Roman at the February PPV.

Given the Bloodline Acknowledgement Ceremony next week, I’m starting to think they may have Rock for Mania.

Even if they hadn't announced it I feel like Stevie Wonder could have seen a Rumble return coming

Ugh way to kill the surprise. He’s definitely winning. Maybe but I think giving him a "Beautiful Day" type build and return is something we haven't gotten in awhile so it's a nice touch. Maybe further the Sami tension by having him be the one that gets Rock to appear to acknowledge Roman only for it to backfire and embarrass Roman?

They've been running HHH 2002 comeback videos for him for weeks. There was no surprise.
However I did notice that a relatively dead crowd roared when it was announced on the titantron.

Based on how my fandom has gone previously, I think I'd normally be on the "Sami should beat Roman" train, but I'm just fully in on Cody winning and beating Roman clean at Mania. The Rhodes family vs. The Anoai family is just a cool wrestling story they can tell and Cody is hyper talented.
Dude took Stardust, which was likely a death sentence, and turned it into one of the more popular parts of the company for awhile. All of his media interviews in camera were a blast, he got to do all the celeb stuff, etc. Then, he went out, had an indie run that anybody would kill for, helped jumpstart the WWE's only major competition in two decades and is now back like "Yeah, you've got no choice but to make me champ."
That's badass. Cody for champ.

Like, I get the logic of people saying the surprise is ruined but also... he's literally on the poster as well as the commercials. And I know WWE doesn't have a great history with advertising people for the show but it was clearly obvious they expected him to be there and if they didn't, Cody was going to force the issue himself and shoot enter the thing.
