Cody must have this written in his contract for them to not be pivoting to Sami/Roman here. To not look at how fondly 30 and KofiMania are remembered because of the payoff to the unexpected babyface getting his win like that are and not doing that here is baffling to me.
Cody isn't going anywhere, hell have him and Sami run back the Neville/Sami storyline for later in the year.

That’s never something that WWE puts in contracts, from all we’ve ever heard about them. They probably just feel like Cody is the guy they’d build a world title run around, and Zayn may get it eventually but later on. Plus the KO/Usos story is such a big aspect of it.

Those arms look very Photoshopped in. Surprised one of them don’t have three of them.

If they used Limp Biskit My Way to these guys recap video, I'd be SO DOWN.

Cody is fortunate he missed all that time with the injury. If he had just been around being protected for this title shot people would Batista his ass for Sami so fast his head would spin that life mistake right off his neck.
Might still happen tbh.

F***s sake, we actually have two crazy over babyfaces for once and the potential to elevate the tag belts to a level it hasn’t been at in years if not ever, and we’re so f***ed in the head about it that we’re trying to misery book our way into there just being one babyface and the world title being the only thing of substance.

The tag title match should absolutely main event night one, no question about it. If there's a time where you want to elevate the tag team division, now's the time to strike while the iron's hot. Setting up a tag match of this caliber in the main event of night one (a match that features one of the company's top babyfaces, and with one of the most compelling stories going right now might I add) would go quite a way towards making the belts feel important again. It's been a long time since they last felt important.
EDITOR'S NOTE: And while we're at it, I'd like for the tag division to have a proper set of belts. The current ones are garbage.

It’s crazy, isn’t it? After so many years of not having many viable supported babyface stars, we’re in a position where they actually have two of them and are using them in huge spots. It can’t be that we’re finally seeing the tag team division elevated to be as important as the world title scene. The thing people have wanted for DECADES. Now it’s a “waste” to put a guy in there. Twisting the narrative that one guy is being screwed and the other is being protected. Give me a break.

f*** all y’all jey should be in cody/sami’s spot I do think a babyface Jey should be the one to finally finish off heel Roman. Maybe not for the belts but to end the Tribal Chief evil dictator character for good.

Yeah I’m down for a Roman and Jey feud in the next few months. For me, the big thing is that they’ve built up Cody enough to where if he doesn’t take the belts from Roman at Mania then he’s going to look Lugerish.
He could technically chase Reigns for a bit before winning it, but right now WWE could use another “pillar”. and Cody can be that pillar for a period if he’s healthy and they’ve got some faith in his drawing power.
Sami can stay hot if they’re careful with him and I think he can keep contending for the world title this year assuming Roman escapes Montreal. IMO he still needs more rebuilding after Knoxville decimated him.

He can rebuild his cred in-ring for a solid few months before getting the shot at Summerslam or winning MITB.

It shouldn't be Cody, it shouldn't be Sami
True wrestling fans know it should be Madcap Moss, he was never eliminated from the Rumble, Cody jumped over the rope at the end, he was eliminated, Madcap was never eliminated

Not like penny-titles trash but dookie nonetheless. I don’t even think AEWs tag titles are all that great looking, but better than the current WWE ones.

And in an interesting bit of history, Starrcade '83, the event that inspired Wrestlemania, got inspiration from The Final Conflict. The draw of said Conflict: a World Tag Team Title match! So yeah, give me KO/Zayn vs. The Usos.

Twisting the narrative that one guy is being screwed and the other is being protected. Give me a break. There was a guy on Wrestling Observer, I forget his name, one of Bryan and Vinny's friends on reviewing RR with them, who said that management must be fuming about Sami's overness and framing it like Sami is over in spite of booking, not because of it. Like it's some accident that Sami was booked in major angles at War Games/Royal Rumble and upcoming big matches at EC/WM. It's mind boggling that they couldn't see that if HHH had no interest in Sami he could have simply had Roman kick him out and beat him in a 10 minute match on Smackdown months and months ago. The WO crew in general have been really trying to push the Bryan/Batista narrative hard. They spent weeks fear-mongering that if Sami didn't win the Rumble fans would turn on the match. When that didn't happen Meltzer still tried to say he heard boos for Cody and even Alvarez had to shut him down and say literally no one else heard that. Alvarez's RR review for SI was less a review and more propaganda for Cody to be pushed aside and Sami to get the title shot somehow. Then yesterday Meltzer reported that Cody, Bray and Roman were the top 3 merch sellers in the company and made sure to add that Sami is "probably" doing well too, like anything that could be seen as praising Cody has to be followed with something about Sami to keep the narrative going. I think the most annoying thing is the ones who when you listen to the glee in their voice talking about it, they're less predicting and more hoping that Roman/Cody gets shit on. Like if that's what you want to happen just say it and stop dancing around the idea that it's simply what you "fear" might happen.
