Itâs crazy, isnât it? After so many years of not having many viable supported babyface stars, weâre in a position where they actually have two of them and are using them in huge spots. It canât be that weâre finally seeing the tag team division elevated to be as important as the world title scene. The thing people have wanted for DECADES. Now itâs a âwasteâ to put a guy in there. Twisting the narrative that one guy is being screwed and the other is being protected. Give me a break. There was a guy on Wrestling Observer, I forget his name, one of Bryan and Vinny's friends on reviewing RR with them, who said that management must be fuming about Sami's overness and framing it like Sami is over in spite of booking, not because of it. Like it's some accident that Sami was booked in major angles at War Games/Royal Rumble and upcoming big matches at EC/WM. It's mind boggling that they couldn't see that if HHH had no interest in Sami he could have simply had Roman kick him out and beat him in a 10 minute match on Smackdown months and months ago. The WO crew in general have been really trying to push the Bryan/Batista narrative hard. They spent weeks fear-mongering that if Sami didn't win the Rumble fans would turn on the match. When that didn't happen Meltzer still tried to say he heard boos for Cody and even Alvarez had to shut him down and say literally no one else heard that. Alvarez's RR review for SI was less a review and more propaganda for Cody to be pushed aside and Sami to get the title shot somehow. Then yesterday Meltzer reported that Cody, Bray and Roman were the top 3 merch sellers in the company and made sure to add that Sami is "probably" doing well too, like anything that could be seen as praising Cody has to be followed with something about Sami to keep the narrative going. I think the most annoying thing is the ones who when you listen to the glee in their voice talking about it, they're less predicting and more hoping that Roman/Cody gets shit on. Like if that's what you want to happen just say it and stop dancing around the idea that it's simply what you "fear" might happen. Gee I wonder why they would push that narrative. Itâs almost like theyâre negativity peddlers that know their revenue goes up when thereâs turmoil in WWE specifically. Itâs gross and it honestly makes me upset because weâre finally on a roll with WWEâs booking and theyâre getting a number of people over, FINALLY. And we have people that would rather bring back crowds being upset with everything and grumbling through shows because talking about that sells more than âShow was great, crowd loved itâ

I love Sami/Jey/Cody pretty evenly and as it stands, i would have Cody beat roman for all the marbles right now. What finally changed my mind was the thought of KO not having a big mania moment when he so clearly deserves one and honestly, as clash said, Sami really needs some time to be rehabilitated in-ring wise.
Yes he was IC champ a billion times and we all know he's a S+ wrestler but most fans nowadays wouldn't know that. They treated him like a joke for the longest time and I think it would be much sweeter if a bit from now, Sami does win the big one but after he's proven he's not the man to f*** with. Cut his hair, give him worlds apart or some big ska theme, give it time.
However, what do we think of a triple threat with 2 falls deciding each title like that IC/European title match at Mania 2000?
I go back and forth on there being a way to put over both Sami/Cody in a situation like that but it is intriguing. It also leaves KO with little to do unless you wanna have Jey/KO take on Jimmy/Solo after the latter keeps the titles as part of the bloodline.

As much as it frustrates me that itâs like this, at the end of the day itâs a rod theyâve created for their own backs. You canât spend literally years putting individual wrestlers, the world titles and the WrestleMania main event on such a pedestal and not expect some kind of push back when one of the hottest angles in the sport looks like ending without ticking all those boxes.
At the same time, building the reputation of the mid-level belts can be done. Theyâve done a stellar job of rebuilding the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship in the last six months with how theyâve booked Gunther and people are so invested in Sheamusâs chase for that belt. But I donât know what they couldâve done to do that with the tag belts, especially with so much of the recent run for them mirroring the world titles with the all-time long Usos reign. Like, they havenât been having bad matches as champions, theyâre as good as theyâve ever been as wrestlers, but there was always going to be those walls of âThis is a stale actâ or âItâs too much like the Reigns stuffâ or âThey should both be in jailâ and such.
Funnily enough, Zayn and Owens could be the kind of guys who could do that rehab job for the tag belts. Itâs almost forgotten how good they are as a team because just about all the times theyâve been paired up in WWE theyâve been limited by being the heels of the match. Their work as a tag team in ROH is what put them on the map, and got people invested in their subsequent blood feud.

As much as I loved Kofi and Bryanâs Mania moments neither lead to them being a company carrying baby face. Thereâs arguments for why thatâs the case, but IMO itâs because as good as they are, especially Bryan, neither are company carrying baby faces.
I think Sami is in that same boat. The moment in Montreal is going to be epic though. Itâs going to be an insane atmosphere and when Jey costs him the match itâs going to be extremely emotional.
I think Cody is a carry the company baby face and you crown him by firing the biggest bullet you can, which is him being the one to finally dethrone Roman on WrestleMania Sunday.

I'm in kind of a weird position on it where I think Roman / Sami makes for the substantially better story but I like Cody way more than I like Sami so really more than anything I'm just on the side of, "I hope Roman finally loses the f***ing belt." Doesn't really help that Roman / Cody kind of doesn't sound like a good match at all to me, guessing it's just going to be a bunch of finisher spamming until eventually one of them, probably Cody, doesn't get up.

The difference here is that you could make the argument for either one of Cody or Sami winning the Rumble. They both had their own unique stories laid out going into the match, both were among the company's top babyfaces, and both were options that the majority of fans are more than happy to get behind. Add to the fact that both are full-time wrestlers. The same can't be said for the other.

f*** all yâall jey should be in cody/samiâs spot I do think a babyface Jey should be the one to finally finish off heel Roman. Maybe not for the belts but to end the Tribal Chief evil dictator character for good. Jey vs. Roman at one of the post-Mania PLEs where Jey wins a d sends Roman on his way to a well-earned vacation.

I could see the following happening:
At Elimination Chamber, Roman and Sami fight to an unsatisfactory finish. Something where Sami HAS to get a rematch at WrestleMania. As the holder of two titles, Roman agrees to give Cody his guaranteed opportunity at one of the titles on Night 1. He'll defend the other title against Sami on Night 2 IF Sami agrees to have a tag match against the Bloodline on Night 1 (the exact combination of Sami/Owens/Jey/Jimmy/Solo is TBD). This is the equivalent of Bret Hart having to sign on for a match against Owen at WrestleMania X before he could get his title opportunity against Yokozuna. Of course, the Bloodline will give Sami such a beating on Night 1 (regardless of the outcome of the match) that he'll be at a disadvantage going into Night 2.
Night 1 of WrestleMania: Sami vs. Bloodline tag match, Roman vs. Cody for one title Night 2 of WrestleMania: Roman vs. Sami for the other title.

Great card, hope most of it shakes out that way. Especially like the US Title ladder match. I would try to have Paul and Rollins in a one-on-one match, though. Not sure what to do with Becky and Bayley then unless itâs a 6 person tag with Damage CTRL, Trish and Lita.

If they do Kross Vs Bray I hope they do it in two parts.
The first is an unannounced cinematic match (taking place in Boyle Heights because of course) that serves as an interlude between live matches and then do the actual announced match the next night.
As for Bayley and Becky my guess is.
Bayley and IYO Vs Becky and Lita at EC..where Trish shows up to keep Dakota in line and leads to a six woman tag at Mania.

Well of two and a half matches announced we know the night for one of them. Not a bad start I guess. ... And really we can probably safely assume both Bianca and Roman's defenses will be on night two.

Charlotte looks like a completely different person in that graphic. Seriously if not for the title belt and Rhea being in the graphic with her I don't think I would've been able to identify her. It's starting to get scary at this point.

Anyone think Damage CTRL might lose the titles to Liv and Raquel before Mania and we get Liv and Raquel vs. Shayna and Ronda? That leaves Damage CTRL to face Becky, Lita and Trish.
