Wonder how much of the “bullshit” chants were for heel heat and not chanting about bad booking.

Yeah this was the wrong decision IMO, but even more questionable was ending the show with that. The Gunns are over in the sense that the crowd will react to them as heels, but they aren't championship level over, even if they are transitional champs. I know people will interpret the "bullshit" chants at the end in different ways, but that seemed like a legit deflated crowd chanting that, and not fans booing cheating heels. If the Acclaimed win it back at the PPV, then that's cool, but not a decision I would have made.

I'm kind of trying to think of one single notable thing to say about the Gunns as talents. They exist, that's the best I can give them.

You can keep pushing the "this sets up the rubber match!" stuff for the PPV but The Acclaimed have far less chemistry with the Gunns than they did with Swerve/Keith Lee or FTR or even Jarrett/Lethal. It's also just a really boring story since they already did this in the fall. I'd rather them just face a returning FTR or Top Flight. It just feels like such a waste of a PPV tag title match. Maybe the worst PPV tag title match since the first one with SCU having the tag belts. So you give them a match stip so it isn't a straight up match? Street Fight, Cage Match, likely this is what's gonna happen And their Dumpster Match together was a lot of fun imo Their dumpster match was fun in a one off blowoff match but their chemistry has gotten worse since then because they have nothing left to do together. And even if you add a stip, it isn't really going to make things any more interesting. There's probably 8-10 tag teams that could have better matches with the Acclaimed on a story that is months past its expiration point. Plus they JUST did a trade back and forth angle with titles where it actually worked/made sense because they had insane chemistry in Joe/Darby. To do it again with two teams that don't really is just annoying.

Idk I don't vibe with the "These guys don't deserve to be champion, look at the BETTER talent that could have been before them" and it's like... cowardly heel champs who don't deserve the straps have ALWAYS been a thing in wrestling, that's what this is. Commentary was literally putting over how disgusting this was and how they didn't deserve the belts, they couldn't have screamed it at people any more prominently than they were, that The Ass Boys stole the belts and shouldn't have them, and deserve to get their asses kicked
Like other teams that haven't been champs yet don't deserve to have a reign like this, they deserve to have a legit one, which may come in time. This is an instance where the belts are being used to drive a storyline. They're paper champs, you want them to get slaughtered, it's essentially what people think MJF as world champ is, but he actually backs it up with his wrestling, when he does wrestle. Ass Boys can't win without hitting someone with a belt and taking the cowards way out
I think it works, if they don't lose them at Revolution I'm gonna say different, but the trajectory here makes perfect sense, and it also breaks up the monotony of long title reigns for belts too.

Match sucked, not really interested in seeing it continue Exactly. The Ass boys are jokes in my opinion so I hate this result. Hopefully AEW won't Wardlow The Acclaimed, They're the most over act in AEW. The whole point is they're jokes, they took the cowards way out to win, commentary screamed that it was a travesty and they didn't deserve them Acclaimed aren't gonna be "Wardlow'd" they're gonna kill the Ass Boys and get the belts back, I'd be stunned if it was any other direction

I’m not a fan but if it’s to get a pop at Revolution, where there may not be a ton of title changes, I get it.
I also love FTR, but if you want to talk rejection, I think people would be pissed if they got the PPV tag title match over The Acclaimed.

I guess I'll give it this, it's not the dumbest tag title change that happened this week, though I do think even if you want to do a very short undeserving chickenshit heel reign you could've probably picked any two random dudes in the back and so long neither of them was named Brian Pillman Jr. you'd probably find a more entertaining team.

Crowd seemed legitimately stunned, I don't think they're just gonna outright reject this storyline now that the Gunn's stole the belts, they're gonna wanna see Acclaimed win them back, and that's how you sell a match for your PPV, plus a likely stipulation. It's risky but they can pay it off well

It feels sometimes that TK is afraid to do long face runs and I wonder if it's out of fear that fans will grow sick of them. It's a valid concern since that has happened, but nobody was close to tired of The Acclaimed. They're literally at their peak.

It more feels like he wanted Acclaimed to face an obstacle, and Billy's sons are the perfect short term challenge for that

I watch AEW to get away from tired-ass tropes like that. What you're describing was old hat during The Miz's first WWE title reign, and that was well over a decade ago.

But the point here specifically is AEW normally goes to a good length to have the best possible matches they can for PPVs because they only do 5 PPVs a year. This isn't the WWE where it's a "well a one off nothing match at Elimination Chamber is fine, the big tag title match will be at WrestleMania" this is their last PPV until late May/early June. And the Gunns are flat out not good enough for a PPV tag title match.

The whole "they don't deserve it and the fact these really good teams never got even a meaningful sniff at it" thing makes sense, yes, but the problem there is that acknowledgment of that and the utilization of it for heat kinda does nothing to help the teams who got raw deals. Like, using one of your biggest writing weaknesses to make your audience madder at dudes has some pretty big pratfalls. Two teams with significant pre-AEW buzz and years of history have broken up due to just the friction fo their teams never getting meaningful shots and the members of them ending up splitting because of different wants, and that's not "AEW forced Stu and Uno apart" or "AEW broke up P&P", but it is the reality of what some of the biggest teams with buzz coming into the company has had to deal with. Intellectually, yeah, I think everyone grasps the idea that f***ing Gunn Club being undeserving champions is the point, but ahving one of a show's biggest flaws rubbed in your face like that doesn't actually make for compelling television. P&P never got a meaningful push as a tag team and now they never will because of how long they spent being Jericho goons but the Ass Boys can luck into a title situation where they aren't even really good enough to be the drama feud undeserving cheater heel champs spot just because their dad is tied to the tag champs. They are literally beneath the station of "guys who suck and shouldn't have the titles".

This reign lasts a month at best, unless they even lose the belts before the PPV, so for me, it's nothing serious and meant for them to lose to a big pop It makes sense in storyline, Miz's world title reign didn't, and amounted to nothing, which I think is a big difference

And the Gunns are flat out not good enough for a PPV tag title match. And even if they were this feud's dragged on for six months and is well past the point of having any novelty whatsoever. Everything about this is just dumb.

Like if you had dudes lacking in actual push credibility but who had an actual talent to put on enjoyable matches. You don't wanna do this thing with guys who are undeserving in kayfabe but just also literally do not belong halfway up the card.
