It was a really good match and atmosphere. The ending and after match stuff wasn’t really that great especially after the super quality content we’ve been getting recently.
Wasn’t really expecting him to win because WWE going to WWE(especially so close to WM) but I would have personally just had Sami win because everything aligning like that is an absolute rarity and there will likely never be another shot for something like that for a long time. Cody is going to get the title anyways who cares if he’s the one to end Roman’s long-assed reign? Sami had the story. I’d almost bet for one reason or another in retrospect the general consensus will be that they should have pulled the trigger in Montreal.
Like it will be cool for Sami and KO to win the tag titles at Mania but not nearly as cool as what we could have had tonight. 🤷🏻♂️

Great match, but I couldn’t help but feel so annoyed when KO showed up like five mins later than would have actually been useful. What a dick. I think Sami should have got the win even if he lost it straight back tomorrow night. KO had no reason to help Sami win the title since Sami didn't help him He didn't want his friend to get hurt I think the way they got Owens involved was perfect. They have a lot to sort out before Wrestlemania. I saved him from destruction, because he saved me from destruction, but he still has alot to answer for. Tonight was perfect. Sami still has lots of explaining to do. I’m not sure the Sami Zayn character as he exists today deserved a happy ending yet. By Wrestlemania he will.

Great match but I feel the same as I did after the CATC main event: I'll forget it ever happened by tomorrow. At least Sami didn't sing like a bitch.

Amazing atmosphere, and they did do a good job milking that crowd for all it was worth, but it was essentially the same bullshit Roman match we’ve been getting

This could have been the MITB 2011 for this generation. Unfortunately it wasn't. I really don't accept the argument that Zayn/Owens vs the Usos at Wrestlemania is going to be a good substitute and, even if it is, what tag division is there afterwards that won't be a slide down the card?
To be clear, I am not saying Sami Zayn had to win. But it is certainly a mistake to move him out of the main event feud, which seems to be what they're doing. The Sami/Cody segment on RAW established what could have been a compelling dynamic for the storyline and the match.

Sami was happily helping Roman screw KO at the last few PPVs and then took FOREVER to step in at the Rumble. Him and KO shouldn't be all buddy buddy overnight. I'm sure they'll eventually work things out and be hugging and crying at Wrestlemania but there's a month and a half and some story beats to go before they fully trust each other again.

I feel like I’m being gaslit to hell when people say this wasn’t a massively missed opportunity. Like…it just wasn’t going to happen. I’m seeing a lot of people annoyed by it and I have no idea why because Cody winning at WrestleMania was the plan for various reasons that we’ve gone into enough times. The crowd was into it, though, and having the match be in Montreal was the right move. But we know this company at this point, you have to literally hijack the entire show for its entirety to get them to change their minds about anything and I mean, the tag title match isn’t the worst idea in the world either. The match itself, besides the crowd, was…fine. Like, this is my second Roman match of this new persona and honestly, the Drew match at Clash at the Castle felt more packed with action and stuff going on and made me believe more that Drew would win. Also, Kevin coming out after the match ends when there was ample opportunity for him to do so felt…weird. Like, you could have Jimmy or Jey take him out to keep the tag match setup but Jimmy was kicking his ass for a good minute, Owens should have brawled with him to the back considering he wasn’t a factor for the rest of it.

I definitely think they should've just let shit happen in a month that isn't April for once and put Sami over, but I'm not really too bothered by it if if Cody wins at Mania and Sami subsequently gets his proper revenge later. If it ends up just being LOLBLOODLINEWINS as usual though then I'm looking back on this as completely braindead.

I feel like if anyone says it would be stupid to have Sami beat the long term champion and go face vs face at Mania, I need to point out one of the best liked events ever was WrestleMania X7, which followed Kurt Angle dropping the belt at No Way Out.

Yeah he finally got something worked out with Canadian border people like a week ago it was mentioned. No clue how that process works (even tho I'm the Canadian) and I imagine it's somewhat of a nightmare but he's allowed in as of now.

I mean, that was an entire different circumstance. Rock and Austin at that point were the two biggest stars in the company, the two biggest faces and it was in Austin’s home state. There wasn’t another match you could do that made sense than that one. If anything, Cody/Roman has more in common right now.

That said, we all know how Mania X7 turned out with Rock/Austin being not truly face vs. face. (Even if WWE’s attempts to turn Austin heel in his home state kinda got borked)

But he still has problems with the Usos so even if you’re not helping Sami, you’re sorting out the two men who helped screw you from your title win last month.
