The obsession with people trying to act like Cody is 2014 Batista is f***ing wild. There is an absolutely unhinged “comedy skit” that’s attached to the opening of Wrestling Observer live today that’s talking about WWE fans having to go on anti-depressants because Triple H jerked them around and is forcing another one of his friends down your throat. I love Dave and he does says questionable stuff every now and then but the past month or so in particular he and the Observer crew have been really annoying. Like pretending to hear boos for Cody at the Rumble or saying Sami losing could kill business like Austin turning heel in 2001. Just absurd takes because they seem to really want another 2014 with Sami/Cody as the Bryan/Batista. They'll never say it outright because of how toxic/petty it would make them sound but from listening to them I honestly think they'd love it if crowds started hijacking shows and ruined Wrestlemania. And they're trying to do their part to make that narrative reality but the IWC doesn't have the same hold on WWE as it did a few years ago so I don't think it's going to happen. The angry, embittered fans who used to hijack shows seemed to have migrated to AEW leaving the WWE crowds with people who actually enjoy the product now.

It's kind of exposed that they're often bad faith actors that try and manipulate the masses to get them to think how they think. I think guys like Sean Ross Sapp, while maybe he spends too much time on attacking trolls, encourage independent thinking while presenting news.

Negativity sells more than optimism or just reviewing a thing. I just don’t understand the saying Triple H is favoring one of his guys over Sami. Like, Sami is more of a Triple H guy than f***ing Cody who spent the better part of three years talking shit about Triple H. Lol

Lol The idea that Cody “I smashed a Triple H throne with a sledgehammer at AEW’s first show” Rhodes being a Triple H guy is hilarious.

Lol I think people call him a HHH guy just because of his father and Dusty basically being the grandfather of NXT. If there is anything between HHH/Cody just a ton of respect. Both of them are of a similar mold and historians of the game but we all know how HHH feels about his "army" He loves Sami Zayn as he was the major cornerstone of NXT and its rise to what it became. He's not going to forget Sami. Hell, imagine if he still had Adam Cole

Honestly the match wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Very anti climactic ending. I was expecting more with Jey Uso.

The match and atmosphere was fantastic, but it just bummed me out that they had the most magical crowd in years and didn’t give them that huge pop and moment with the win. I know all the logical reasons why Cody should be the guy and I’m sure it’ll go well, but in my heart I just wish we could have had one of the greatest moments in company history.

Could've had Sami won and then Roman wins it back on a Smackdown in a couple weeks so they can still do Cody/Roman.
But that would've cheapened the win and ended Roman's streak just to pop a crowd.

Wonder how many more years the WWE will waste on the Roman Era

Wonder how many more years the WWE will waste on the Roman Era I'm hoping for more, even after the Bloodline is dissolved by force of Sami. Not a waste for those of us who love it.

I think post-Mania, you can afford to give Roman consecutive losses to sell the idea that his world has crumbled after the Bloodline’s implosion.

Just felt like Clash at the Castle's match layout but in Canada. The talent is there, but the booking lets them down so much. It's a bummer ending like every WWE PPV on a bummer note for the past XX years

Wonder how many more years the WWE will waste on the Roman Era Yeah, he’s a great character right now, but it took 6 years of trash to get here. I don’t know that he could be good enough for me to get past the major waste of time his forced face run was. His matches also still bore me 🤷🏻♂️

I think things are good now but gonna get even better once we get back to the title being passed around a bit as the next generation comes up. There’s a lot of talent. Last night’s US title chamber was a taste.

It's a bummer ending like every WWE PPV on a bummer note for the past XX years This ideally should be the last PPV that ends with Roman retaining or winning. Mania should end with him losing versus Cody, which starts a downard spiral angle for him. He challenges Sami at Backlash, only to lose clean, then we cap off at Summerslam with Jey beating Roman to officially end the Bloodline for good. Roman's won so much and has been protected to a ridiculous degree that him losing on consecutive PLEs wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

This match proved again for the 821st time that Kevin Owens is the worst friend or ally anyone could hope for. Him only coming out to help Sami after he already lost was because he could not stomach the thought of Sami and not him removing Roman Reigns from the Island of Relevancy. Don't forget at the Royal Rumble, even if it was a big moment, Kevin suffered a very long post match beat down before Sami stepped up. Last night Kevin didn't even wait half that long after the bell.

I think some of the Sami/KO stuff is us making up a story the company ain’t going to tell. I mean, they might, but their track record isn’t great for that. And I get people saying he has to earn it but, well, the people think he has. They were quick to start cheering him again. Weirdly, that’s sort of how wrestling characters mostly worked. Going back to the 2001 example, November 2001 Stone Cold was cheered again even after spending most of it being the biggest turd the world had ever seen. That’s just wrestling. I have no idea what they'll do from this point. But the intention last night was 1000% to suggest that KO still has heat with Sami, but would stop short of wanting to see him get murdered. The way KO wanted absolutely nothing to do with Sami afterwards was fairly un-subtle. That's not people on here making up a story. KO is historically one of the most self-aware characters on the roster, so I bet that it will be covered off. Yeah, there is a lot of water under the Zowens bridge. It's going to take a couple of in ring and backstage segments to clear it up. There is also how Sami is still friends with Jey who Kevin holds personally responsible for Kevin losing his title shot against Roman.

I really hope Jey Uso doesn't turn on Sami like:
"Roman may have gaslighted me for the last 3 years but you accidently speared me Uce"

This was the first PPV (sorry, PLE) that I watched in full and live as it happened since WrestleMania 35, and it's only the third one I watched in full and live as it happened since 2002. I watched WrestleManis 35 for Bryan vs. Kofi. I watched Elimination Chamber for Sami Zayn, and for this crowd that I knew was going to be out of its mind for him. It takes a lot to get me to watch the current product, but a well-booked, emotionally charged underdog story will do it. WWE had all the ingredients here for a once-in-a-decade moment.
The match itself did not disappoint, up to the finish. And I think Roman is absolutely brilliant as a heel.
But I do think WWE failed to catch the wave on this one.
Here's what I want to see now, although I don't think it'll happen:
1. Sami somehow is added to the Roman-Cody match at WrestleMania to make it a triple threat. Could be a one-fall match for both belts, or a two-fall match with one fall for each belt (like the Angle-Benoit-Jericho match at WM2000). 2. Cody says he's agreeable to this and happy for Sami but is clearly not 100% cool with it. 3. If it's a one-fall match, Jey turns on Roman at the climax, allowing Sami to win the match and the unified titles. If it's a two-fall match, Cody wins the first fall and belt, and Jey's turn on Roman allows Sami to win the second. 4. Roman vs. Jey is a given, with Jey finally getting his justice and sending Roman off to Hollywood. 5. And Cody Rhodes, whose big crowning WrestleMania moment has been either watered down or outright swiped from him because of Sami's involvement, loses his ever-loving shit on Sami and goes full American Nightmare heel.
