Wardlow is champ again but did the title win really do anything for him?

The TNT title has sort of been the reverse of all other titles where there is mini quick runs but nothing to really give you momentum. It is not really an IC level title but more European range 

Assuming Hobbs takes an L to Wardlow, I would like to see Swerve get it and hold it for a while

Nah, one of the belts has to change hands a frequent amount and the TNT Titles a workrate ironman kind of belt, I think that's what it should be, it makes longer reigns or reigns with a ton of successful defenses mean more

Potentially yes, but I do think AEW plays too safe with their titles changing hands a lot overall so it's nice to have one that *is* the regular changey change one

You could make an argument for that. But I don’t really mind the hot potato on a mid card belt that is defended a lot. They definitely should either give Wardlow a longish reign or Hobbs long one if he wins. But I don’t mind it too much as long as the feud is good. And Joe/Wardlow was vastly better than the Cody/Sammy/Sky stuff.

Since the TNT belt had been built up as the fighting champ's belt I think it's fine provided that the belt is treated like a prize and not a prop. THe Sammy/Scorp stuff didn't help it aside from the ladder match. Wardlow's first reign was a disaster too for the belt. So as long as the matches are good and again it's seen as a prize tis cool.

I dont think its necessarily bad, but boy did Sammy and Scorpion hurt the belt a lot.

I would guess my follow up question would be is does winning the title again help Wardlow

It has sort of been damaged goods and I have no problem with it changing hands but it does feel like a flat title. Samoa Joe was doing some great work tho

Normally, no. I don't mind it changing hands every couple of weeks or so. It's nice to have a title that does and as many champs run the open challenge angle, it only makes sense that they'll burn out quickly.

But, I think the match on Wednesday is a really tough one to call. I'd give the win to Hobbs, but it'd make Wardlow's run too short.

I think it does more to stop Wardlows momentum, I agree just winning the title and dropping would be odd.They definitely wanted Wardlow to get his revenge on Joe.

But I'm willing to bet that if he drops they gonna do some sort of pre-match injury angle.

I've been fine with most title changes outside of the Sky/Sammy stuff. You need a title that feels like it can change hands often and the recent ones have made sense to me.

I really like the way the TNT title moves around in contrast to the very glacial pace of other titles. Mostly because it does an amazing job of establishing the TNT champion as someone with a target on their back. The world title gets earmarked for big feuds, the women's champ is typically portrayed (rightly) as an ace of the division, TBS title is obviously Jade's, Orange's All-Atlantic run is really great but it's built as a showcase for Orange specifically, and the trios title doesn't yet have a defined identity on that front beyond "chaos match". But you really feel like the guy with the TNT title has everyone out for him and he has to fight to keep his belt around his waist, and it creates a sort of chaos to it that feels like it has a great contrast to everything else. In any other promotion it might feel a bit sloppy to me, but its contrast and structure in AEW makes me love its movement.

Honestly? I wouldn't have had Wardlow win it and just have Hobbs beat Joe for the belt on Wednesday.

I think in a way it’s more realistic for a belt like this to change hands frequently, considering how much it’s defended. Plus doing short reigns makes these matches a little more unpredictable and it makes the longer ones mean more.

I just want Joe to win everything so I was like "awwww" when he lost but I get Wardlow winning here. He feels like he still needs that spark that was lost after the MJF DoN incident and his aimless summer.

Ideally, if everything had worked out perfectly, Wardlow would been having a shit ton of high momentum and people would had been anticipating the match and a real challenge to MJF considering he squashed him when they faced off last 

But that whole debacle really did Wardlow no favors and they had no real positive follow up for him

now just for discussion sake, one scenario I played in my head was Christian beating JB tonight beating OC for the All Atlantic title and then JB finally getting his singles title vs Christian in the summer.

With how things played out and how JB has been booked? Have Hobbs win the TNT title and build up Jungle Boy to beat him in the summer and transition Swerve to win the All Atlantic title

AEW did fumble the ball when it came to Wardlow's momentum after winning the TNT title.

It’s essentially the TV title, so I don’t really think it can be defended or change hands too much, personally.

I don't know what the point of the Wardlow to Joe to Allen to Joe back to Wardlow was about unless Wardlow was injured cause we could have cut the middle out there

I legit think they wanted to do something similar to what WWE is doing with Brock Lesnar where they wanted the visual of Wardlow powerbombing Satnam at All Out, but either the reactions werent there or they realized Satnam wasn't ready (or both) so they nixed that on the fly
