Mine was Scream. The crispness of the picture blew me away.

Mine was Wrestlemania: The official inside story. It was a DVD that was packaged with the book of the same name. I got that book as a birthday present. Two months later, my family got its first DVD player in 2001. We needed a DVD to try it on and that was the only one we had. I was amazed at how clear everything (for the time) looked. A friend of mine who was a causal fan watched and got a kick out of Roddy Piper hosing down Morton Downey Jr with a fire extinguisher.

It was a double-sided disc, as I recall. One side had the movie in anamorphic widescreen, the other in 4:3 with the bonus features. The box art was absolute garbage, though.

When my dad and step-mom first got a DVD player they started out with Wild Wild West and Bad Boys. When I got one of my own the first one was the Hey Arnold movie.

Aliens (The Directors Cut) Hard to forget. Just bought a PS2 in late 2001. Has I was leaving the Target I got it from there was a music and entertainment store called Sanity with a standee for $20 DVDs which were cheap at the time. Just bought a ps2 which was also my first DVD player. Aliens is my favorite movie.. how could I not?

Linkin Park’s Frat Party at the Pankake Festival DVD. I was a massive Linkin Park fan at the time and just got a PS2 and the DVD had a PS2 compatible sticker on it, so I had to grab it.

Embarrassing thing, not knowing any better (being like 10) and having money to burn at the time I bought a DVD player and a PS2 at the same time. I actually still have the DVD player, no clue whether it still works.

think I bought 2 at the same time once I got a ps2, Blade 2 and one of the first two Austin Powers films.
It's hard to remember as I ended up working in a dvd shop and ended up buying a lot of dvds in the two years I worked there.

Remember printing off a list from some website that told what dvds worked and in what region. And I remember I can’t if it was Sony that released it or a third party but a program that you install onto a memory card so that more DVD titles would work. Edit: wait it’s come back to me the software disc came with the official PS2 DVD remote .

I think it was Man on the Moon. Blockbuster was selling a used one for the same price as renting it so I bought it. I hadn’t bought the DVD player yet…but knew I was getting one sooner or later.

The first ones our family got were Braveheart and Terminator 2 (sadly, it was only the vanilla version, luckily, I eventually got the ultimate edition). First one I bought for myself was Beyond the Mat, still own it too.

Boogeymen: The Killer Compilation. A series of clips featuring slasher/horror movie killers like Jason, Freddy, and the Leprechaun. First time I experienced a commentary track, with Robert Englund confirming that we WOULD be getting Freddy vs. Jason in the near future! Also the DVD had an easter egg featuring another killer (Jack Frost the mutant killer snowman)!
