A severely cut version of Zombie / Dawn of the Dead. I'm not sure if it had the Goblin OST. If not that'd be the real deal breaker.

I'm guessing The Matrix but maybe that's because I thought that was everyone's first dvd. Judging by this thread maybe it wasn't.

I'm guessing The Matrix but maybe that's because I thought that was everyone's first dvd. Judging by this thread maybe it wasn't. Out of curiosity, I looked up what were the first commercially available DVDs in the west. 29 titles were released in test markets in March 1997 ahead of the national rollout that August. - Batman (1989) - The Birdcage (1996) - Blade Runner: Director's Cut (1982) - The Bodyguard (1992) - Bonnie & Clyde (1967) - The Bridges of Madison County (1995) - The Color Purple (1985) - Eraser (1996) - The Exorcist (1973) - The Fugitive (1993) - The Glimmer Man (1996) - Goodfellas (1990) - Interview with the Vampire (1994) - Lethal Weapon (1987) - Mad Max II: The Road Warrior (1981) - The Mask (1995) - Midnight Cowboy (1969) - Mortal Kombat (1995) - Rocky (1976) - Se7en (1995) - Singin' in the Rain (1961) - Species (1995) - A Streetcar Named Desire: Director's Cut (1951) - A Time to Kill (1995) - Twister (1996) - Unforgiven (1992) - Woodstock: Director's Cut (1970) With the exception of Species, all were single-layer discs that required flipping the disc from side A to side B to either watch the entire movie (if the movie was over 120 minutes long) or to watch either the widescreen (letterboxed, not anamorphic) or full screen (4:3) versions. As is almost always the case with a brand new format most of these versions had poor transfer quality, though they were no doubt impressive for the time. I definitely owned Blade Runner, Lethal Weapon, and Se7en from this batch of releases, though not until at least 1999-2000.

I grabbed a couple of those 100 public domain horror/sci-fi movies for $20 compilations to watch on my PS2. The poor video quality kind of defeated the whole purpose of having DVDs, but I didn't care because I was getting 200 movies for about 2 dimes each.

Oh DVD's are a little older than I thought. I suppose my memory is skewed by the PS2 being most teenagers first DVD player.

It was Wrestlemania 15, which I still haven't ever fully watched, but it was the start of my WWE collection which is now massive.

I think I got four at the same time: Citizen Kane, The Third Man, Weird Al: The Videos, and Pearl Jam: Touring Band 2000.

I can't remember my first DVD that I have got. However, I do know the first WWE DVD I ever bought was Wrestlemania XV. That might've been the first event released on DVD, but I'm not sure.

Big Trouble in Little China - because it had all these behind the scenes bits and a John Carpenter/Kurt Russel commentary

Resident Evil and X-men. Bought both together with my first, and only, as it still works just fine, DVD-player in 2002, after I had gotten my first real paycheck.
