For me right now it's Jeff Jarrett.

For me it was the Hardy Boyz in 2017. It was exciting seeing them return but then I got tired of the retro thing very quickly. By the time they allowed Matt to do the "Broken" stuff again it felt like the moment was gone.
It was also annoying that we had to wait years for Jeff to use "No More Words" again only for him to screw it all up.

When Jericho first came back dressed as a disco hairdresser. This was before he pivoted to SRS Jericho, I think. Actually even his return pop in 2007 was kinda mediocre

For me right now it's Jeff Jarrett. And its funny cause I'm the opposite. I have NEVER liked Jarrett, throughout all his various runs and iterations over the years, but I am enjoying his AEW run so much.

Alberto Del Rio beats John Cena for the US title and within a month or so he's doing that Mexican America shit and then ruining the previously great League of Nations group just via his presence. To be fair, I don't think anyone said "yay he's back!." I'm gonna say Karrion Kross. Nobody cares about the guy then or now. With Kross, they tried making him a big deal by redeubting him and getting him somewhat involved in the Drew/Roman feud going into Clash. Then they had him beat Drew (ala screwey finish)...and people still didn't give a rats ass

So He's Mainstream (again) Now He Sucks? I did like meeting him and Scarlett on said indies though. I didn't know/forgot about the part of someone being racist to him. futureraven was talking about ADR. He was fired after hitting someone that made a racist comment, basically to cover the WWE's ass from an unsafe work enviornment claim because the person that was hit was an actual employee of the company. So ADR was fired and was playing up his I was fired because I beat up a racist and having a decent run in the indies from what I remember... until he came back now more coked up then ever <_< He had used up some of the good will on Lucha Underground, though I think people mostly heard about that, with him supposedly being a douchebag and not wanting to put people over, after he got back to WWE. Alberto is one of those guys where WWE had truthfully misused at various turns, but he also screwed up so many things for himself and made it very difficult to feel any sympathy for him in the long run, until the Paige/Saraya and related stuff basically killed any remaining sympathy dead.

Hogan returning to the red & yellow in WCW '99. The buildup to it was really good. When he finally came out, it was nostalgic and felt like a big deal. Then, within a short time it just felt stale and archaic.

Both Warrior and Jake in 1996. With Jake, the personal demons were just too much and he couldn’t sustain momentum or reliably perform. And with Warrior, he’d been exposed as extremely limited in the ring and unprofessional outside of it to where his aura was completely obliterated at the end.

His return to TNA once he stopped booking himself as world champ was a lot of fun. He made for a really sympathetic face after real life tragedy with his first wife's death. And MMA Jarrett was my favorite incarnation of his until his current AEW run. I also respect he went around the indies and just did his thing when he wasn't in WWE and now AEW. You don't really see a lot of "name" guys do that anymore.

Jake actually felt more out of place than Warrior. He looked 20 years older and that shirt was just damn awful. Warrior at least gave us the memory of him smoking a cigar while wearing Mantaur's fedora.

Scott Steiner’s 2002 return. It started with so much enthusiasm, but he was pretty much done after that first match with Triple H at Royal Rumble.

In terms of hype? Recently Johnny Gargano. For a lot of the people Triple H brought back I don't think there was much hype, but it seemed like there was was excitement to see where Johnny Wrestling would go. But man he's fallen so far.

Sid in WCW in 1999-2000s for me. He just talked and look like a goofball, ECW had it right with how they booked him. Whomever agented that match with his leg is a moron too He was over though, crowd were into him. When they turned him face the crowd loved it. Then he got badly injured, then injured even more badly when he came back.
