Coming from recent interviews, Undertaker. Rue McClanahan not sounding like Blanche takes a little adjustment too. Rose McIver's American accent is so natural, I have to adjust when I hear her (equally pleasant) natural New Zealand accent...which I did in spades this past weekend when we met ;-) :-) The only time Taker's Texan voice really shined through was when he would push a ppv match... "At No Mercy, this Sundee...."

Brad Dourif refused to drop his English accent during the production of The Lord of the Rings until he had wrapped filming. Bernard Hill, who played Théoden, assumed that Dourif was actually British and upon hearing him speak with his real accent laughed uproariously, thinking he was putting on a ludicrously phoney American accent as a joke.

in another direction of the thread... that Richard Steven Horvitz, actually just sounds like that and he's not really putting on a voice Also: Dante Basco perpetually sounds like he just hit puberty.

Not an actor specifically, but hearing Teller from Penn and Teller talk with such a polished and eloquent ‘radio voice’ was a shock to me.

Starts talking and I immediately go, “Oh, yep, she’s an Okie alright.”

Britney Spears when she's talking or singing in her real voice instead of that baby voice.

Finding out Idris Elba & Dominic West were British and did not sound AT ALL like the characters they played in the Wire (Stringer Bell for Elba, Jimmy McNulty for West)

Britney Spears when she's talking or singing in her real voice instead of that baby voice. I have heard her sing in her real voice. She is actually a better singer than a lot of people give her credit for.

If we bringing using their real singing voices into this, T-Pain, easily. Particularly because the guy is so naturally gifted as a singer, so you realize his heavy use of autotune was just a stylistic choice on his part. Unlike a lot of autotune users, he didn’t need it to actually correct his singing voice.

Retro example, but realizing Sterling Holloway's Pooh voice was essentially his own was surreal, as was seeing him in semi-villainous roles like the Twilight Zone: I’ll see you and raise you Frank Welker. For all of the various voices he has done, I’d have never guessed that Freddie Jones from Scooby Doo was the one he used his real voice for.

Also, Patrick Stewart's natural accent has a lot more Yorkshire in it than the voice he uses on camera. It's definitely faded over the decades, but it's still noticeable on the rare occasion you get to hear him talk informally. In the TNG vein, the first time I ever heard Marina Sirtis talk out of character she sounded less like the cultured Troi or even Demona, and much more like someone who would get into barfights on a regular basis.

I do like how Troi's accent has evolved over time. She starts off with Sirtis' approximation of a Mediterranean accent, then becomes more mid-Atlantic by the third season, gets a little more east London from First Contact onwards, and is now pretty much a slightly more clipped version of Sirtis' regular accent. As for Sirtis' regular accent, when she rips into somebody at a convention or goes on a rant about something she's passionate about she sounds exactly like she should be throwing somebody out of her pub in Eastenders. Example:

Idris Elba always f***s me up every time I hear him speak
Good mention on T-Pain. The man is a really good singer and people got it confused for a long time that he needed that to sing despite making it popular when in actuality it was just a stylistic choice

Fran Drescher still has that nasal New Yawk voice, but in The Nanny she exaggerates it after the first season.
