My "I came up with it in the pub" theory for the high number of British and Australian actors cast in superhero movies is that American higher education is so sports-mad that young Americans with the sort of physique necessary for a superhero role are more likely to spend their free time at college playing football, basketball, wrestling, and MMA rather than taking acting classes or getting involved in college theater. As a result, the number of adult actors who could fill the roles are fewer.

Since singers are mentioned, I remember reading about Michel'le and how she has a strong singing voice but has a high-pitched speaking voice. For those who don't know, here is what I mean.
While you can hear her speaking voice in some bits in the song, here is a good example when you hear her talk.

Not an actor specifically, but hearing Teller from Penn and Teller talk with such a polished and eloquent ‘radio voice’ was a shock to me. Penn has told a story about being hired for the X-Files to do some part. They sit down with everyone and get to arguing over plot points and what not. Finally, the X-Files guys lose their patience and say to Teller "No wonder you don't speak, Penn never lets anyone get a word in" and Penn notes in the story, that was their fatal mistake, assuming Teller doesn't speak because Penn has bullied him into silence or some such other shit. Teller goes into some angry monologue about how he isn't speaking because he can't suffer fools like Penn can and references to literary shit no has ever heard of. The joke of it is, getting Teller to shut up is the real challenge. He talks constantly.

Only tangentially related, but Penn has said that he only shouts when he's going for humor, because a big dude shouting to him is inherently humorous. If he's actually angry, he tries to not raise his voice in order to be taken more seriously.

One of my best friends, I’m positive he’s the loudest and most aggressive people on Earth. He loses his mind screaming over shit that wouldn’t even register to normal people. What was that old thread? Funniest thing ever at work? I know my tales dominated it and I wasn’t even close to done.

Finding out Idris Elba & Dominic West were British and did not sound AT ALL like the characters they played in the Wire (Stringer Bell for Elba, Jimmy McNulty for West) My favorite bit of behind the scenes trivia about The Wire is that in the handful of scenes Elba and West have, their British accents kept creeping out. It only happened when these two actors were talking to each other.

I just watched Jumanji and I have to say, it took me a bit to recognize the Aunt as Bebe neworth from cheers. I knew she was actually attractive because it was a plot line in cheers, but this is the e first time I ever heard her speak and move like a normal person. She’s way more attractive than I thought she was.

Gilbert Gottfried shocked the hell out of me when I heard his real voice That Stern clip on YouTube isn’t his real voice. His real voice can be heard on his season of SNL and some commercials he did around that time. I don’t know the full context of that Stern thing, but to me, it’s clearly not Gilbert.

I grew up hearing Timothy Spall with a "Brummie" accent as he did it throughout Auf Wiedersehen Pet and as Andy in one episode of Red Dwarf. To hear him speak in his normal accent was surprising.
