Sometimes, what brings you to the big time, or becomes part of your legacy, is not what you'd expect, or perhaps even want. What are some examples of this happening to creators, where they express a level of contempt for one of their noted works? I'm keeping it fairly loose here what does and does not count, as will be evidenced by my examples.
First, I am unsure if Harley Race outright invented the diving headbutt, or merely popularized it, but he expressed remorse for doing so, given the level of injuries incurred by people using the move heavily. Certainly not everyone who did it has had neck or head injuries, but it's certainly a non-zero amount of damage it caused.
A funnier example: In 1987, Seal recorded a tape for a song. Unhappy with it, he tossed it aside and did not turn it over to his producer for the use of his first album. However, for his second one, his producer cleaned it up, and "Kiss From a Rose" was born. It'd be modestly successful before exploding years later when it was on the Batman Forever soundtrack, and it has since become Seal's signature song, almost inarguably. That has not endeared it to Seal entirely, though, who still openly isn't satisfied with the song and has made self-deprecating comments about it, while still acknowledging it has been very fruitful for him.
Wikipedia puts it best.
"The song's cryptic lyrics have been the subject of debate since its release. In 2015, Seal provided verified commentary on the "Kiss from a Rose" entry on the website Genius, stating simply: "I have avoided explaining these lyrics for over 25 years. I am not going to start doing it now."

Alan Moore seems to eventually resent everything he's ever written. I half expect his final will and testament to include a lengthy rant about how League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is actually complete dog shit and its readers were idiots for buying it.

Thom Yorke used to despise Creep but has softened in recent years like he knows it's a dorky song but is happy to play it from time to time to be in on the joke. Pablo Honey's sales were disappointing and the success of Creep (it was a smash on US college radio which was the best way to get international exposure pre-internet) helped secure the band's future with EMI.
A similar case is a Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, who is famed for his surrealist novels with abstract plots but Norwegian Wood a very conventional nostalgic love story was his first major financial success and gave him the freedom to write what he wanted to after that similar to the freedom Creep gave Radiohead. No idea what Murakami thinks about Norwegian Wood these days but he probably doesn't consider it to be one of his notable works.

Vince seemed like that towards parts of the WWE itself (mainly SmackDown and NXT).

Kurt Cobain hated Smells Like Teen Spirit to the point where he’d refuse to play it live, and would storm offstage when the fans started calling for it.
Jim Morrison I think was the same way with Light My Fire.

Clive Cussler absolutely hated the film version of “Raise the Titanic” and vowed to never let another of his stories to be turned into a movie.
Twenty years later someone convinced him to give it another shot with “Sahara”. This time he insisted on a writing credit and creative control. Rumor has it he was a complete and utter prick on the set and he fought with the producers constantly. He hated this movie so much that he sued the producers for “intentionally sabotaging” the film just to make him look bad. Not only did Clive lose his case but he ended up having to pay the other side’s legal fees.

Gary Oldman hated doing The Fifth Element. Which is nuts, because he's one of the best parts of a very good sci-fi movie.

But it's fun.

With how much he got screwed around by comic companies it's not surprising how much he doesn't want anyone to remind him of his works. It's also why I wish people would stop asking him about them... he's made his stance known... bothering the grumpy old wizard isn't going to change anything.

Was coming in to say Alan Moore HATES the Killing Joke. He's flat out said it wasn't a good book, a lot of stuff he was trying in the book didn't work, and that he wishes DC would have reined him in more on that book. When he floated the idea of paralyzing Barbara (which he says was a stupid idea), he was told "Yeah, okay cripple the bitch."

Tyle the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt of Odd Future both seem thoroughly repulsed by their early work, and understandably so.

Alan Moore has Bret Hart syndrome, people ask him about things they know he's unhappy about at times old wounds have been reopened to get the angriest reaction to report on, and since all people read are headlines, he's bitter and angry. He's a passionate guy who cares deeply about the art form, and still works in it despite having every right to walk away and become a Ditko-esque recluse.

The La's disowned their first and only album immediately after its release, despite critical acclaim and spending three years and an absolute fortune making it.

-Mark Millar leaves The Unfunnies off his bibilography and anecdotally told a story about how his wife read the script and threw it at him when he was taking a bath and he should have listened to her.
-Joel Schumacher's commentary for Batman and Robin is mostly just him apologizing for making it.
-Lars Ulrich frequently makes fun of how the drums sounded on St. Anger.
